Jennifer sat at work, writing a resignation letter. She didn't want to resign, but she kind of had to. She was still trying her best to warm up to the idea of going home and not coming back to Fandom.

So far, it wasn't happening.

She knew that she should start telling people she was leaving. But that would make the leaving more real and she didn't want that, either. It was petty and childish to deny the inevitable. But Jennifer Walters wanted to cling to childish hopes, at least today.

Jennifer had grabbed her mail on the way to work today, not looking at the envelopes until she actually got seated at her desk. When she saw one was from her father, she opened it and read it.

It was an apology for sending her away. And it was a letter informing her that after the semester, she was coming home to stay.

She frowned at it. Nothing like being told what you were doing, instead of being asked your opinion.

She'd happily distract herself if anyone came in needing legal assistance.

Jennifer was a little fidgety at work today. Even though she didn't have a date, she had to go to Prom tomorrow as a member of Student Council.

She was wondering whether she should get a dress that fit her as normal, or if she should 'go green' for the formal.

She was writing down a list of pros and cons instead of working. Oops.

She was having trouble deciding. And running a Topeka search for ideas wasn't helping her at all...

There was a bull-size wolf moving through town. The fact that some people might end up thinking he was a monster had occurred to Jacob, but his sense of self preservation was very much skewed. Besides, how many monsters did you know that walked around with a cut off pair of jeans attached to his hind leg by a gas mask. Luckily there was no droid baby, Sedna had been dumped with Morgana which seemed better for everyone involved. Except perhaps Morgana.

It left Jacob free to wander the island, trying to pick up a scent of the wolves that had taken the principal. He couldn't help wondering if the one he'd met on Thursday had anything to do with it. He didn't want to believe it, she'd been... He didn't know what it had been, but he'd been comfortable with her almost as if she'd been one of his pack despite all the differences.

The fog was still thick and while Jake's bulk gave him at least some time before he started hallucinating, he wasn't immune. It forced him to retreat regularly when the vampire scents became more poignant and he could see things moving that weren't really there. He'd find a spot, turn back and breath through the gas mask until he was certain his head was clear enough. Then he'd be back out, looking for real monsters and the wolves. Because somehow that was personal.

Tyler and Ghanima were both there early today, waiting for everyone to arrive.

"Good evening," she started, looking around the space. "Welcome back, and we're back to our randomly assigned pairs."

"Miss Dinah Lance and Miss Claire Bennet. Mr. Jono Starsmore and Miss Lulu. Jedi Tahiri and Miss Fa Mulan. If you do not already know each other, please introduce yourselves. You are partners for your fights this evening."

Tyler just rolled his eyes at Ghani's formality. "Jen, grab Blysse. Katarn and Hathaway, Mayor Summers and Blue Girl. Go to it."

Jennifer busied herself with her duties at work again, at least looking like she wasn't deep in thought again. And indeed, she wasn't. Jennifer was very quiet at work today. She was finally starting to deal with what happened, in her own special way. She was reading very specific case histories, ones she felt were... at least spiritually similar to some of her own circumstances.

It was helping. Little by little. She'd soon be able to actually confront Alice or Zack about it all. Soon, but not today.

Jennifer was more than happy to settle back into work after a week off. Filing done, she took to doing more basic legal research of her own. But what she used to do just fine, getting lost in a big old book of law, the same action now made her a bit antsy. Like she should be doing something bigger, grander.

She did her best to ignore that feeling and instead focused on the pages. However, anyone who came in was bound to have Jen's full attention, as she'd be way more interested in them than her book.

"I hope that you all aren't hungover or overtired from the dating event last night," Ghanima began cheerfully once everyone had assembled. "Because we're going to work you today."

Tyler glanced at her lazily. Was three-minute dates that big a deal with this crowd? The things he missed being all monogamous. He scratched his chin before speaking. "Right," he said. "And ... you with you, you with you, you with you ... Ghanima, other three?"

"You, with her. You two. And you and you," she continued, pointing people out. "Now go to it."

A lazy smile spread across Tyler's face, and he made a shoo'ing gesture before going off to find his own match.

No announcement had been made concerning the cancellation of Fight Club, so as members fought their way to Atlas Gym, snow continued to come down around them. Huge drifts of it, starting to reach astronomical heights.

Once people got the gym, however, they'd find their fearless leaders outside, one large pile of snowballs already sculpted and stacked in the middle of the road. "Time to put theory into practice," Ghanima called out, not looking the least bit cold or uncomfortable. Someone was cheating and already manipulating her body in the Bene Gesserit fashion; not feeling the weather was fantastic. "No quarter, and no mercy."

Tyler, meanwhile, was cold, borderline miserable, and warmed only a bit by his thoughts of dropping snow down Ghanima's collar. Yeah, he fought dirty. "Which means a snowball fight," he explained, and gestured to divide the crowd. "You guys here are red team, you guys there are blue team. Group with the most people standing in an hour wins."

He glanced over to Ghanima, and, reluctantly, added, "Rocks with a little bit of snow on them are not appropriate artillery."

"And if someone does yield, go find another target," she continued. "There's no honor in putting a defeated foe into a snowbank."

Off hours, Tyler might have argued that it could be funny. In front of the club ... "Right," he said. "Let's get to it."

So, Zack was possibly a little on the twitchy and awkward side today at work, and finally, the dishes got around to asking him why.

After a long, hesitant sort of silence, Zack finally piped up and asked a very important question.

It was a literal case of not knowing her own strength. And that was starting to bother her. And not just because it was costing her most of her salary in replacing things.

"Right," Tyler said, once most of the fighters seemed to be there. "I don't know where Ghanima went. Maybe she has some chick thing I don't want to know about."

Yes, Tyler, that was exactly what you wanted to say about a woman who could kick your ass. Especially when she had relatives who came to Fight Club and could also kick your ass.

"Anyhow, you're stuck with me. Rejoice. Um, matches today are -- blondie, fight dark hair. Other blondie, you're with him. Third blondie, with her." He paused to draw his breath and look the crowd over. "Anakin with Steve, the Mayor with him, and Rose with the green girl. Everyone else, you're on your own."

"Welcome back," he said, pacing as usual. "It's been a while, but we haven't forgotten you and I hope you haven't forgotten us. If you need a refresher, rules are on the gym door."

"And if you need a refresher after one week, you are most likely still hungover, and have no place on the mats," Ghanima replied. "Which is why we'll hit you anyway, so that you learn."

"Most weeks," Tyler said, "we do assigned matches. This week is different. This week is introductions -- because you haven't said your names enough yet this week -- and some level testing. Introductions don't have to be fancy. Fight Club is not about your life story. Tell us what you like to be called and how long you've been at this and we'll call it good."

"After which, those of you that are new or trying to move from beginner to advanced can show us your moves, while the rest of you grab a friend to beat up," Ghanima continued cheerfully. "Once we've seen you in action, then our new friends can also hit the mats, and proceed to learn how we make friends and influence people here at Fight Club. I'll give you a hint; it usually involves bruises."

"But first, you all have to listen to the rules."

Tyler pulled out a sheet of paper and read them off. "Hopefully those are all clear, if you do not understand ask somebody. If you still do not understand, consider the possible tragedy of head damage and don't fight."

He glanced to Ghanima. "Anything else?"

"These rules are posted on the door for every Fight Club meeting," she said pleasantly. "Anyone who willfully ignores these rules gets bounced out that door. We are here to fight, not babysit you."

Today's Very Special Edition of Fight Club was being brought to you by two things; Ghanima was running late so Tyler was in charge on his own, and Anakin had offered a dare.

Figuring he might not get the chance again, Tyler had quickly curtained off a segment of the gym area and set a few things up behind it. "Hi," he said laconically. "I'm back, and Ghanima will be here a little later. Before the fighting, I wanted to talk to you about the next phase of fight club."

He was not catching Anakin's eye if he was there for this. He'd laugh if he did.

"In Phase 2, we start trying to look good while we fight. Neat hair, nice workout clothes, manicured nails. if you're ready for that, go behind the curtain and get ready. Don't forget the hair gel."
