The Gig, Tuesday [9/29]

Ellie was glad she had to work today so she could avoid the assembly. Certain things in her life were confusing enough. She'd much rather deal with the horses. Kally stuck her head over the fence, seeming to sense Ellie's thoughtfulness. Instinctively, she pet her, already feeling a little more at ease.

The Gig was open.

Jennifer came in, a little sheepish.

"Ummm, hi Ellie."

Ellie glanced over, equally sheepish.

"Hey."

Jennifer hemmed and hawed for a moment, and then just spoke. "I really don't want to be awkward with you.'

Ellie was actually relieved to hear that. "I don't want things to be awkward either. I'm sorry I've been kind of avoidy."

Jen smiled a little. "Well, I can't exactly be upset, since I've been doing the same."

Ellie smiled a little as well. "I guess it was kind of silly to be hiding, huh?"

"Especially when everyone I talked to kept telling me we should just talk," Jennifer said.

"Talking, right," Ellie said. "Probably would be a good idea."

"Yeah," Jennifer said. She took a deep breath.

"You're still my best friend. I mean, there's nothing that can take that away."

"That is definitely good to know," Ellie said, looking relieved once again. "I wouldn't want that to change."

"Me either," Jennifer said. "So... maybe we can just put this behind us and just move on?"

"Yeah, sure. That seems for the best," Ellie replied, though there was still a part of her that was feeling confused.

There was part of Jennifer that was still confused, too. But she was planning to repress that, for now.

"Awesome," Jennifer said. "Hug on it?"

Ellie smiled. "Hugs are good."

She then went over to do just that.

"It's going to take a lot more than glitter to mess up our friendship," Jennifer said, holding her friend tight.

"You are so right about that," Ellie agreed.

"Besides, not like it wasn't fun, right?" Jennifer said.

Ohhh, way to say the wrong thing.

Ellie blinked. "Uh..yeah, the party was fun."

Not just the party, but Ellie didn't say it out loud. She didn't want to add to the confusion.

"Yeah," Jennifer said. "The party." She smiled, just to move past this all, for now. "Oh, I finally met your roommate, by the way."

"Oh good," Ellie said. "She's pretty cool."
