Evan... didn't want to go back.

He'd kind of forgotten just how easily this place could become home, and he'd known but he'd never fully realized just how much people hated... not just him, but everyone like him, back in his own world. He hadn't lasted long there before, when he'd been sent here to give him a chance to sort of breathe, and then he'd been called back, and...

He reached for a stick and threw it, and a dog and a small dinosaur both went racing off after it.

It wasn't just that he was hated, though. He was lonely. He missed his friends. He missed... he missed a lot of people.

Maybe if he just played here a little longer, and pretended as though everything was going to stay just like this forever, and ignored it, it would go away on its own.

"It's not, is it? Going to just fix itself?"

That was meant to be kind of rhetorical.

Mike was aware there was some kind of a school-related shindig happening in town. He also knew there was a ton of people on the island so he figured this was not a work shift to miss. Maybe it'd get a little more interesting than most weeks.

He hung up the specials board and settled behind the bar.

Buffy had showed up at the dance, but then decided to skip out early and hang out in the cemetery like the olden days. She doubted there'd be anything worth staking tonight- hopefully- but given how event weekends had gone in her day, better safe than sorry.

So there she was, sitting on top of a gravestone, waiting for something to happen.

The door was shut, the lights were out. But the door was unlocked. At the counter, Red the Puppet sat silent, inanimate guard over a plate of brownies wrapped in cellophane, three envelopes, labeled Jack, Johnny, and Mary, containing the recipe for the brownies and a Christmas card for Mary, cards each for Johnny and Jack, as well as a months pay, with a raise, and a Holiday bonus, and a photo Album labeled "FOR ANNETTE". It contained pictures from their adventures in Ghost Hunting. In Red's lap was a short note:

Gunther figured that Mary would want the hotel open today even if she wasn't here. Besides, he had been testing out Thanksgiving meal ideas for nearly a month now so he wasn't about to skip on the big day.

The sous chef was busy bringing out platters of food to the buffet table while Gunther was taking an urgent phone call at the front desk. It seemed that back in Las Vegas, a very pregnant, very hormonal Delinda Deline was trying to cook her first Thanksgiving turkey. "Please stop crying, Deelinda," begged Gunther. "Gunther? What the heck is that?" asked Mary, staring at the platter Gunther was carrying out from the kitchen.

"Turducken!" said Gunther enthusiastically. "I vatch Food Network last night. You take the chicken and stuff it in the duck, then stuff the duck inside the turkey with stuffing and sausage and roast it all together." The sous chef came running out of the kitchen with a carving knife, and Gunther started carving up his masterpiece.

The memorial service was held on the flat hilltop overlooking the ocean, and at its edge rested an old-fashioned wooden boat, worn and weathered. There were chairs for those still too weak to stand and four torches, burning steadily, set in the ground at the four cardinal points. The day was bright and clear, a light breeze blowing out to sea, but despite that, the torches never flickered.

Karal, dressed in formal robes of black and gold, stood in front of the boat, waiting patiently while people arrived.

Christian was upset when he found out one of the kids had died the day before and was pissed at himself for taking the day off. The island had been through a lot while he'd been here, but one of the kids dying was unacceptable. He was frustrated by his inability to reach anyone outside the island. No ordering more supplies, no consulting with contagious disease experts. If it had only been the adults sick he might have been trying to head for the hills to save his own ass, but he wasn't about to abandon the kids. They had to find a way to stop this. Especially because now a baby was sick.

Leo sat on a bench, brooding. He wanted to help, but he wasn't sure an old man like him wouldn't just get in the way. He had only the basic first aid training and that had been back in the war. It wasn't too long after the meeting at the school that the troopers and the school's security moved around the island. Two checkpoints were set up; one at the docks and one at the causeway to keep people from leaving that way. Troopers and school security were moving through the streets to keep an eye on things and to help a hand if necessary.

Roy himself seemed to be covering all the points at once. He was worried, but right now at least he had something tangible to do and he was intent on making sure no one would get to the mainland.

Jolee had officially discovered the game of darts. This troubled Tino. Not the fact that he was playing, but the fact fact that the dartboard was in the lounge, Jolee was behind the bar, and he wasn't touching the darts.

Still, this was Fandom, even that wasn't too bad. But every now and then one of the mysteriously thrown darts would go way off target. It was bad when the bass player took a dart to the forehead. It was worse when the glass Tino was drinking something very strong out of shattered as a dart flew through it. If Tino didn't know better - and he didn't, actually - he'd think Jolee was doing that on purpose. The laughter the accompanied the occasional wild throws didn't help that thinking.

Jolee would probably stop when a customer entered. Just to keep messing with Tino.

When GOB opened up the bar tonight, the he was met by a man who looked, for lack of a better term, Swayze-ish. "Are you the new bouncer? Dalton?" GOB asked him.

There was a strange lump in the grass; the lump was a girl, a young woman, with crooked limbs bent comfortably uncomfortably, looking up at the sky and thinking about how she was never going to get used to the sun not setting at six o'clock exactly. Sunsets were old fashioned, thought Adah, thought Adah's good friend Oscar. Denoihsaf dlo erew stesnus. She was waiting for the sunset; she was waiting for her body to catch up from her day's traveling around the small down, marveling at its strange stone building, stone streets, as much a wonder to her as Atlanta had been when she'd stepped off the noisy, crowded, jolting bus and onto ground strangely, unnaturally solid. No red dust on her once-white sneakers, but there was now doing to be grass stains on her skirt from the cool blades beneath her. She ran the fingers on her left had idly through them.

The backwards of a sunset was a sunrise, but poetry of sunsets, backwards, were not, and she recited them in her head.

Past long things than more rememberance in writ,
Last sweetest is sweet, of taste, last as the
close, the at music and sun setting the.

It would be a while before Adah would feel herself ready to return to the dorms, to brave those stairs again. After her class, she chose to explore than return right away. She'd have to return soon. Soon. Not yet. Just soon.

It was dark by the time Wilson reached Fandom, quite dark and quite late but he wasn't really aware of the time.

He'd spent most of the drive remember the good times with House and quietly mourning the loss of what had been a very important friendship in his life. Wilson tried to tell himself that he shouldn't think in terms of absolutes but he had to accept the fact that it was going to be awhile before he could even think of speaking to House again.

These thoughts stuck with him as he pulled his luggage out of the boot of the Aston Martin and began to make his way through the streets of Fandom. He made it as far as the park before being distracted by a certain park bench.

For some strange reason, he'd remembered that tonight was supposed to be the most active night for the Perseid Meteors and it seemed a good idea to sit down on the bench and perhaps search the night sky for the bright streaks of atmospheric fireworks. Setting his luggage behind the bench, Wilson settled down and looked up towards the night sky in an attempt to remind himself that the week's past events were actually quite small in the grand scheme of things.

There was a sign posted at the front door:

G.O.B. Bluth Presents:
The Third Annual
Three Minute Dates @ Caritas

hosted by A Matchmaker Named G.O.B.

However, the sign fell over because GOB had bought really cheap sign-making materials. But if people didn't know about the event, that wouldn't necessarily stop GOB from roping them in.

On the stage at precisely 5:55 PM, the familiar opening of "The Final Countdown" blared and GOB strutted out onto the stage to set the mood. With illusions. There was the standard prancing and hankies and brandishing of knives, and it ended after a couple minutes with GOB wheeling a heart-shaped ring of fire out onto stage and releasing a flock of doves to fly through it.

After Tino got the resulting minor fire under control, GOB stepped up to the microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen, it doesn't matter who you are. If you're a dateless wonder or a complete slut, this night is for you. You'll get to meet several people of some gender and maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to convince them to come home with you. And that, my friends, is the magic--" a large blast of smoke went off behind GOB and a banner that looked much like the sign up from - aside from the fact that the banner had yet to fall apart - dropped down behind GOB, "-- of Three Minute Dates at Caritas. My name is GOB Bluth and I'll be your host."

"When I call your name and the name of someone else, you will find each other, look longingly into each others' eyes, and figure out whether or not you give a damn about whatever they're talking about. If you do, remember that for later because you'll have to do the same thing four more times and then it's a battle of trying to figure out who you want to do more! And if everything goes!"

"Oh, and we had way too many guys again so enjoy your gay dates. Oh, and Round 4 is the gay round so everyone have fun, especially the ladies!"

[OOC: Three minutes equals ten comments for our purposes. That's five comments per person. Try your very best to get it wrapped up in that time. You do NOT have to do these in chronological order. Do them as people are available. Just try not to Joss yourself.

Remember, if you slap someone, you will be teleported out of the club and will have to make your way back.

Somewhere not far from Fandom, a bus full of very smart people was broken down. One decided to continue on the path to the island and tell them what was going on (he didn't have a cell phone, unfortunately) while the others attempted to fix the bus. Unfortunately, not a one of them had a degree in bus repair.

In Fandom, Dean Drax was disappointed that it was the day of the Academic Fair and none of his guests had shown up yet. Only one of them had even sent anything, some guy named Dex. Apparently he was going to lecture on aeronautics and robotics so he sent a model airplane. Of course. Because that was very scholarly.

Nevertheless, Drax put the airplane up at a stand in the park under a sign reading "Airplane. Feel smarter yet?" He feared that this was probably going to be considered to be the peak of his deanship.

After the model had been in place for about twenty minutes, Drax noticed something odd. There was a slight hissing sound throughout the park. He looked around and noticed that there were some very large snakes lurking. They seemed friendly enough, though. Drax sought one out and picked it up. It stared at him for a moment before its eyes glowed blue. Just then, Drax heard fanfare that lasted about half a minute. With a feeling of dread at the way this was going to turn out, Drax looked up. All he managed to say was, "It's--!"

And then a giant foot came from the sky and squished Drax into the ground with an inappropriate farty noise. When he would come to much later, Drax would truly hate today.

[OOC: Due to a lack of guest stars for the academic fair, the plan has changed a tiny bit, barely noticeable. There are moddable pythons in the park. They're friendly, if a little odd, and if they touch you (which they will certainly be trying to do) you will participate in a Monty Python sketch/scene. Feel free to pair up or go solo and rip off Flying Circus or the movies for this. Go nuts but remember, it's a comm, no NSFW.

The snakes will only be appearing in the park, but you're free to wander out into town after being Pythonized and interact with bewildered people there. Please note that once you've roughly completed the sketch/scene, you will be back to normal and remember what you just did.

Please note that while it may be clear to anyone really paying attention that the model airplane is in fact a cursed object that has brought this silly fate upon the park, the pythons will prevent anyone from getting to it. If you try, you will make a python go all glowy eyes and you will be turned into a Gumby. There is a plan for getting it all taken care of, I swear.

Oh, and Monty Python itself should probably be metaed if you feel you must compare these events to the acts of the comedy troupe, but I'd prefer it if you didn't touch on that at all, pretty please.

So, have fun! YouTube, Wikipedia, and Googling online transcripts are your friends! The sketches listed in the OCD threads are merely suggestions. You can go with any Python sketch you want. Doubling up on the same sketch is fine.

Dex is from Sky Captain, btw. Done with OOC notes, I swear.]
