Mary has been distracted lately and hasn't seen Gunther around for a couple days. So she was freaked out when she got to the front desk and found a list of demands, not to mention hearing Gunther screaming for help from a locked room just down the hall from the reception area. At least, she assumed he was screaming for help since he was shouting in German. After she let him out and he told her in English what had happened, Mary was absolutely horrified. She really needed to have a talk with her staff.

Of course, Gunther may have left a few things out of his account of the coup.

Lana opened the bookstore after setting everything out for the customers and hanging up the "Help Wanted" sign.

After stopping at the Perk for coffee and a muffin, Isabel opened the store on time. Talking with Bel last night reminded her that Homecoming wasn't all that far off, so she pulled out some of the fashion magazines and started looking for a dress.

He had to do it. The Banana Costume of Doom. It wasn't too bad, he supposed. Just hot. Really hot. Good thing Maeby wasn't here to see him sweltering to death.

It finally happened. The hinge of the window gave in and the window fell to the floor. Glass and splintered wood shattered across the floor. Gabriel just sighed and looked in another direction.

[The church is open]

It had been too long since Charlie practiced, and while she was still nervous of doing so by herself, she decided that a quick and safe run-through of her abilities would do more good than harm. She started out with dispersing heat into the bay, and then settled in to work on controlling the direction of the fires she started on lengths of rope again. When she got bored with that, she dug the pit deeper, then experimented with pushing her telekinesis to the point of fire ignition. It seemed like her control was better than it had been, but not wanting to test her luck, she quit doing that when it started to give her a headache.

She settled in after her practice with her notebook, and amused herself writing a new officer onto the spaceship, one who could hang out with Officer A and interpret any language, and was possibly secretly married to the Captain.

[ooc: Just establishy, although if you're up *really* late or don't mind SP, I can get back to you around midnight EST. The beach is open for any other beach needs.]

The zombies wouldn't let Anders talk them into putting on baseball jerseys and doing a sports bar theme tonight. That was mildly disappointing, but at least he managed to wheedle them into playing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" when he opened up for the night.

He'd remembered to bring his laptop tonight, and was busy reading up on drink recipes so he wouldn't, hopefully, get caught too off guard.

Caritas is open, and the bartender? Making progress toward being less in over his head.

[OOC: Mod Tino for rapid service before 8:30 PM EST! Am around all night now (except for the 20 minutes or so when I'm driving home from the coffeeshop eventually), but if you really wanna mod Tino you still can!]

It was inventory day! That meant that nothing better show up to ruin Turtle's day. Nothing. She was armed with a clipboard, a red pen, and a bounce.

Nothing.

And she was trying something, eager to see how it would work.

Today's Squishy flavors: Mincemeat, Ink, NEW Red.

There was glitter to denote the newness of the red, but, in truth, it was just more of the bad red.

Turtle & Canary is open.

Since she was already out of the habit of holing up in her room on Thursdays thanks to visiting Yondaime-sensei and she really wanted to put off the matter of stairs whenever she could, Adah was sitting at the center of the park (or, at least, as close as she could estimate). Her good leg was tucked in, notebook laid on top of it. Her bad leg was doing...she had no idea what it was doing, as usual, but it didn't look very comfortable, she imagined. She was humming, lightly, a familiar song to a different tune. Anyone who would pay close enough attention would recognize it as "Amazing Grace," but it was done as a dirge more than anything else. Thus was how it was sung in Africa, without union of tune or pitch or even words. They wee a regular Tower of Babel there at the First Baptist Church of Kilanga...But Adah had her own words to it, and, as she hummed the slow, dredging song, she wrote them, in time.

Evil, all....its sin....is still....alive!
Do go....Tata.....to God!
Sugar don't....No, drag us,
drawn onward,
A, he rose...ye eyesore, ha!

It has been a while since she reveled in palindromes. Everything here seemed more like almost palindromes, not enough actual palindromes, and the urge to make them palindromes, she felt, left her faltering, scrambling, drowning in a sea of ants without a hand to grasp onto.

[[ open for all your parkly needs! Bit of this stolen from Kingsolver's original text. ]]

The HELP WANTED and NEW GREEN SCREEN STUDIO signs were still up in the window, and Leo was playing Monopoly with Red the Puppet. And losing.

Yitzhak wasn't, to the shock of his kitchen staff, menacing people into working today. Not in the miniskirt and fabulous new glittery nylons he was wearing along with his ripped-up t-shirt and leather motorcycle jacket. (He woke up in an ambiguous sort of mood.)

He didn't need to. The sheer power of WTF his presence gave off today was enough to do that.

Luke's is . . . open? Closed? Opelosed? Well, it's there and the door's unlocked and you can get food.

The Post Office was open. Given that it was Thursday, that wasn't particularly noteworthy.

What was noteworthy was that today it was dry, damp-free, practically dessicated.

That would be because it was completely Moist-less.

Postal services today will be provided by the ever helpful (and distressingly literal) Gladys.

[ooc: I AM NOT SORRY! Please mod Gladys if you need the post office today]

Neil skittered into the Nest a little late this evening.

He had a good reason for being late. It had something to do with the happy smile on his face. It was always a good day when he spent time with Andrew.

Johnny was at a folding table with a beat up voting box next to him as he snored the day away.

The squirrels entertained themselves by tossing nuts at his head and plotting the demise of the one called Jack.
