Like so many weekends before it, the calm of a September Saturday morning was interrupted by the unscheduled opening of a portal in the park. This one sprang to life in a blaze of blue and gold and a burst of glitter before settling into something more stable.

The first to flood out were a score of squirrels, followed by some alots, a few teal deer, and some gremlins who had left Fandom to seek their fortune through biting. Then humans, humanoids, and those we never asked about too closely came through the portal.

Welcome back to Fandom, alums! Even if you hadn't planned on being here this weekend!

[OOC: Feel free to establish your folks coming through if they aren't taking alternative methods to arrive! HAPPY TENTH ANNIVERSARY, FANDOM! Come hang out in the IM chatroom gogremlins if you have time to kill and want to catch up/squee/find out what people have done IRL over ten years...]

It'd been a fairly lazy weekend for the most part. Lazy wasn't bad but, come Sunday night, Alex kind of really wanted something to do. Sure, he had fun at the sex store (and even made some purchases) but that was just part of the day. He thought of just going to a campfire but that was technically on school grounds and Alex wasn't feeling very rule abiding.

So, he brought himself down to the beach after making a few stops on the way. With his rudimentary skills, he got a decent sized fire going but kept his cooler full of adult beverages away from it. No need for the alcohol to go warm because of the fire.

Hey, it was Sunday. There could be an impromptu night of getting trashed on the beach, right? Sure, there were classes tomorrow but that's why water and Tylenol were plentiful. And Sunday night just seemed like a good time to drink at the beach.

[idk, rilly. but, it's oooooooopen to all! talk to alex, talk to each other, spend sunday getting your driiiiiiiink on. byob, if you want. feel free to assume you heard in a handwavy fashion or you were just in the area!]

The picnic shelters were decorated with gold streamers, of both the crepe paper and shiny metallic sort, and the appetizing scent of breakfast foods grilled by NPC staff filled the air. Bright summer flowers were draped over anything you could drape bright summer flowers over, with far less subtlety than there'd been at the dance, since this was out in the open air and people could get away from them if they so chose.

The sounds of summer in musical form -- not chosen by the provider of the flowers, no -- played lightly in the background.

[OOC: OCD is up, post is open, plaaaaaaay!]

While the students had been completing their last finals, an NPC staff had been hard at work converting one of the empty warehouses into the site of tonight's dance. When the guests arrived this evening, they'd be greeted by a long yellow carpet, leading up to the open glass doors of the warehouse.

Once inside, they would find the space brightly decorated to celebrate the summer season. Gold drapes covered the walls, splashed liberally with glitter to make them sparkle in the low lights of the warehouse. Flowers were placed here and there, not overwhelming but definitely noticeable and fragrant. Images of beaches, palm trees, sunsets, sunrises, hammocks, and other various summer images were being projected on the walls randomly.

A long table consisting of food and drinks was along one wall, providing plenty of sustenance for everyone for their long night of fun. Dark corners could be found here and there, of course. There was music playing and a disco balls projecting light onto the dance floor.

It was time for the summer dance.

It wasn't his usual style -- and he had the cute t-shirt slogans to prove it -- but Priestly had spent the weekend eating bugs. So Luke's had gone vegetarian for the day.

Which, naturally, didn't stop the cook from trying to get Priestly to munch on ants on a log.

Today's Specials
Veggie burgers
Lentil salad
Banana pudding

Luke's was open.

Robin was not wearing her Robin Sparkles regalia longer than she needed to. Which was for the obligatory performance.

So, for right now, the wig and graffiti denim jacket were tucked away, and Robin herself, brunette and irritable-looking as ever, was behind the bar and eyeing a bottle of Johnnie Walker.

[hooooly crap, wait for this OCD. it's intense. OKAY IT'S ALL UP. For the sake of not collapsing the post from sheer OCD, there's no audience reactions threads -- just react right off the performances, please! Have fun! \m/]

Priestly came in to work with an important announcement. "We're making sushi today!"

The cook, dishwasher, and busboy exchanged looks. The cook looked back at Priestly. "I don't know how --"

"Sushi!"

"But I --"

"Sushi!"

"Fine." The cook threw his apron at Priestly. "You cook it."

Priestly decided he should have thought of this months ago.

Today's specials
Inexpertly made sushi
Hot dogs

KKG Meeting: The Beach

It was warm-ish. It was after classes. KKG was meeting on the beach.

Call it an excuse for lots of pretty boys to wear swim trunks in the presence of anyone who had handwavily heard about this completely open meeting of the minds.

Maybe some of the boys would even work up a nice sheen of sweat playing volleyball (but not in jeans, okay?) or running after a frisbee.

It was Earth Day after all.

The day seemed like it was going to be dreary, so Toby dressed himself in bright colors and chillaxed behind the counter with a fresh copy of the Fandom High Times. Reading Lee's article, Toby was a little concerned that perhaps he should hide from these knitting fiends. OH, but then his song came over the loudspeakers and he was singing along with Cher.

"Do you beliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieve in life after love? I can feel somethin' inside me say, I really don't think you're strong enough oooooh!"

Priestly came into work today just bursting with ideas about what to offer for specials.

Of course, the cooking staff wasted no time in reminding him that this was a diner, and as such they didn't serve pad thai or little ice cream balls covered in flour. They served diner food.

"You people," Priestly said, "have no imagination."

Today's Specials
Boring stuff
Chicken fingers
Macaroni and cheese
Pie ala mode

Luke's was open.

For the first time in what felt like forever, Robin was actually behind the bar, antagonizing Tino and serving up drinks herself.

It was weird how she'd actually missed it.

Priestly was a little bit late getting to the diner, today. He had about fifty different reasons for this, of varying creativity and epic nature, not a single one of which was true.

Sometimes, you're just late 'cause you're late.

Still, explaining those fifty reasons to the kitchen staff kept them distracted from teasing him or putting stuff in his hair, so, hey, upside!

Today's specials
Ten inch spicy Italian (not a euphemism)
Hotpot (also not a euphemism)
Frozen banana on a stick (still not a -- you get the point)

Even with the sun out, it was still fairly chilly on the causeway, creating a brisk reminder of what everyone would be leaving behind for the next week as they traveled through the Caribbean.

As the students, teachers, and guests gathered to wait for the portal to Florida, everyone was given a copy of their lodging information and a trip itinerary to peruse:

Eastern Caribbean Cruise Itinerary (7 Days)
Sunday: Portal to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Ship departs 5:00PM)
Monday: Princess Cays, Bahamas (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Tuesday: At Sea
Wednesday: St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Thursday: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Friday: Grand Turk (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Saturday: At Sea
Sunday: Portal back from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Portal opens 7AM)

[OOC: Up early for SP! The cruise posts are up now as well: rooms are here and the ship is here. Please check to make sure that you have a room assignment, and let us know if you were accidentally left off. Also, make sure you have [livejournal.com profile] fh_trips friended so you'll see the rest of the posts this week!]

So far disaster hadn't struck and it seems that the StuCo wasn't tempting fate with the choice of decor. Good thing. It would suck to have an invasion before everyone got lucky on Valentine's Day.

There was still plenty of food to eat, dances to be had and, hey, it looked like someone spiked the punch.

[You are some damn talky people. This is your mirror post (possibly not your last) for the dance. Wait for the OCD or you'll have me to deal with and I fight dirty up!]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

The kitchen crew was putting stuff in Priestly's hair again. And snickering about him getting called a "village idiot" on the radio.

Priestly outwardly ignored them while secretly plotting their demise and planning a specials board that would go well with his t-shirt du jour.

Today's Specials
Love is in the Angelhair spaghetti with meatballs
Some Enchanted Pizza (with lots of garlic)
Bad Religion-food cake (Devil's food with a cute name)

Luke's was open for business.

Upon his return from a slo-motion run down the beach, Jason made his way to the pool to set up for some party he was throwing for Buffy, Claudia, and Brooke. They sounded hot.

Filling the pool and setting out deck chairs and space heaters, Jason's tanned and tattoo-free skin and his thick, dark hair shone in the bright sunshine. He hummed to himself as he worked to erect the lifeguard stand, securing his red float to the side before climbing on top, his job complete.

"This is gonna be awesome," Jason announced, surveying the results of his hard work and flipping open his phone to order up some pizza.

The MHA Pool was ready for business and Detention was in session.

[Ronon is now Baywatch Hawaii's Jason, and Detention is now a Pool Party open to all!]
