After a day of hard work (not by Summer herself, of course, she had other people to do that for her while she mostly just lounged and got a good suntan and pregamed while directing the preparations), the beach was set up for her big birthday beach party, and she couldn't be happier. It had, of course, all the trappings one might expect from such a thing: tiki torches, bonfire, volleyball court, and so, so much more, but she'll get into that in the OCD threads!

Summer herself was, of course, feeling those beach vibes and at that point was pretty much just eager to have people show up, barely even worried anymore that people wouldn't, which, you know, was a nice thing to reflect on, because that showed character growth and maturity as she moved on into this, her twenty-fifth year of life.

Also, well, as you'll see, she pretty much hired about half the town to help her out, so she was already guaranteed a small crowd from that alone.

If you'd been on the beach this morning, you might've thought that the man dressed in linen and wearing a Tahitian black pearl on a cord around his neck sitting quietly in the sand as he dried off had arrived right from the ocean.

But that would be extremely extra, wouldn't it? And Poseidon, god of the sea, was never anything but low key. Ignore hurricanes. And floods. And tsunamis.

He sat there, letting the wind blow his hair around, and stared out at the water. If the waves were bigger than they should be for a beach in Maryland, well, sometimes that happened.

Anakin and his new best friend, Thor, had spent most of yesterday in the junkyard on a pastry-and-sugar fuelled engineering binge (with breaks for fake sword fights because there were a lot of cool metal poles in the junkyard, too, all right).

Now it was time for the testing portion of their new podracer! They'd dragged their probable deathtrap pride and joy down to the beach, along with the engines to make it work.

"It'll work," Anakin was assuring Thor with a nod. "I'm very good at this stuff."

And so modest!

Okay, so the stuff Dean had given her had tasted horrible but had worked wonders. She still wasn't up to snuff - she got tired and winded easily and she was still pretty pale and sore, but she was no longer alternating between chills and fever and that feeling of something off, something wrong had gone away, flushed out with the last of the bronze. She'd lost enough weight that it was noticeable and not in a good way, but she'd at least escaped looking gaunt. In short, she looked like someone who'd gone through some kind of dreadful wasting illness, but at least was now on the mend.

Which, you know, made sense. She wasn't exactly sure the difference between a severe poisoning and a severe illness in regards to toll on the body, but she guessed that they weren't too dissimilar?

Either way, she might look like she'd been dragged down a mile and a half of bad road, but that was still an improvement overall from looking like she'd been dragged down six miles of that very same road, and was celebrating by leaving the roof for a little while and heading down to the beach. She didn't get far before she had to stop and take a rest, but progress was still progress, dammit. She'd successfully made it here under her own power and she'd make it back up to her nest the same way.

...She might just be here for awhile resting up for that climb. Maybe she should let some folks know she was here since she was likely not going anywhere for a hot minute.

The sun had just dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the beach as the first notes of music from Arden’s playlist filled the air. The waves gently lapped at the shore, creating a soothing backdrop to the area. Tiki torches and string lights were set up around the party area, their flickering and colorful light adding to the atmosphere.

The aroma of North Carolina barbecue filled the air, with a long table set up with all the fixings—pulled pork, coleslaw, hush puppies, and more. For those with different tastes, vegetarian and vegan dishes were also thoughtfully provided. Sweet tea was the main beverage, but for those craving something colder, Squishies were lined up next to the drinks cooler. The centerpiece of it all was a giant cupcake that Graham had brought all the way from Daventry for the occasion.

Games were scattered around the beach: volleyball nets, cornhole, frisbees, and even a few board games for those who preferred to sit back and relax. A bonfire crackled nearby, with cozy spots to sit and chat, perfect for those who wanted to enjoy the evening at a slower pace.

It was set up for a perfect evening, filled with good food, great company, and the kind of fun that comes from being surrounded by people. Yes, it was another surprise party, the kind that shouldn’t be a surprise anymore, really. But that’s the point of parties—to celebrate the people you care about. And tonight, it was all about Arden.

Charlie didn't particularly want to throw herself a birthday party, but she thought it would be fun to have some sort of open gathering for anyone who might want to stop by for any reason - whether they knew her or not. So she sent out a general message to everyone she knew and headed down to the beach.

She'd brought back a ton of treats from the fair shed'd been to in class and ordered a variety of pizzas, Chinese food, and drinks to set out on the picnic tables. There were probably even some alcoholic beverages there - hey, some of her friends were old enough to drink!

The water was refreshing and there was a bonfire ready to be lit when it got dark, with fixings for s'mores if anyone wanted. Maybe she'd even play her guitar by the fire later.

So stop on by for some food and fun. If you think you would have gotten a text you did - even if it came to you mistakenly, Charlie's happy to have you.

And, of course, it's an open beach, so anyone's welcome.

It was the first day of break and Arden was going to spend it the way the goddess had intended it: out on the beach with the salt and the sea and the sun and the sand, sorry Anakin. She was sprawled out on a blanket with a towel or two next to her and a cooler of drinks and snacks. She had a book with her for later, but right now she was enjoying the warmth while sending out a text to all the usual suspects (and a few new ones for good measure) inviting them to come and spend the day out on the beach with her.

It was stupidly hot today and so rather than heading home after work, Steve detoured to the beach with the towel he kept in his desk for emergency beach situations. (You can take the man out of Hawai'i, but you can't take Hawai'i out of the man.)

Dropping his shirt and work pants onto the towel, Steve dove into the water wearing the swim trunks he also kept on just in case. (In Honolulu, he ended up in the water because of a case at least once a month, a trend Fandom really needed to step up on.)

He'd head out for food later, but for now, the water and the longest day of sunlight was more of a temptation.

The lobsters, it seemed, were feeling a little restless that morning, causing all sorts of a ruckus around the apartment while Amaya was trying to do some work in her greenhouse. Normally, she generally encouraged that sort of behavior, especially if it meant they were training with their weapons, but she'd had a lot on her mind with Graham's visit and was sort of hoping some time gardening would sort of help her work through some of it. As a matter of fact, she was now almost wondering if Graham's visit didn't have to something to do with them being more excitable and rambunctious all of a sudden. The kid certainly seemed to have an....infectious personality, so she wouldn't be at all surprised.

But she did need to get them out of the house a little, and what better place to take a couple of lobsters than the beach? She might even dig her toes into the sand a little bit and enjoy the view, but they made sure to find a good stretch of beach that didn't necessitate getting too close to the Lobster Hut, because that would just awkward.

And while the lobsters worked off some of that energy on the surf and turf, Amaya brought with her a little spring mechanism that she'd been working on, something she could do a little bit idly without needed the forge to really piece together. She just hoped none of the parts got loose and got lost in the sand in the meantime, although it wasn't like she couldn't just get more parts (or make more) at the shop.

Arden hadn't really been sleeping well recently and had decided to go for a walk about it tonight rather than just stay in her room staring up at the ceiling. The weather was warm enough that she didn't even bother changing out of her nightshirt or put on shoes, just let herself out of the manor and walked along the beach for awhile, trying not to think, to just empty out her mind and be one with the air, just like she'd tried during medit--never mind.

Sadly, that had worked about as well as it had during meditation - though she hadn't kicked up a hurricane this time, so progress! - and so partway through her walk, she decided that if she couldn't shut up her whirling thoughts by will alone, she could at least tire herself out enough to sleep instead.

Maybe it was today's trip to the Falls and a reminder of how much she enjoyed swimming. Maybe it was how inviting the ocean looked, reflecting the stars. Maybe it was because running in sand sucked. Or maybe it was Irony having its way. Either way, Arden looked at the ocean, then down at her pjs, and then back at the ocean. Wearing wet clothes sucked but it was the middle of the night. Who was even going to be around this late?

Terrible decision made, she shucked off her nightshirt, leaving it right there on the beach, and waded into the water. It was cooler than she'd expected, but she dove under anyway and once she got actually swimming, she warmed right up. Huh. It turned out skinny dipping was fun. No wonder all her teachers had done it!

With Graham heading out to Daventry in a few days for the Knight Trials (and, if he won, staying there), they were running out of time to give him a proper sendoff. And so Arden had pulled a couple of late nights pulling a quick beach party together. There were tiki torches all around and a volleyball net, some hula hoops, some inflatable rafts and floats, a couple of beach balls...basically, she'd raided T&C's summer aisle for as much as she could scavenge and dragged it all back here and set it up around a bunch of blankets, beach towels, lounge chairs, and big umbrellas for folks who needed to hide from the sun. There were also plastic sand buckets full of sunscreen at various levels of SPF because she didn't want anyone getting sun poisoning at Graham's goodbye party. Seemed like a bad omen.

The most prominent aspect of the party was a hand-painted paper banner that said GOOD LUCK GRAHAM!! Arden was going to try to get everybody to sign it before Graham showed up, so he'd have a banner full of well-wishes from all his friends at Fandom. There were pens, markers, colored pencils, and even paints for people to use.

Okay, so decorations, food, activities, music, drinks, various kinds of sun protections...was she forgetting something? Arden had never once in her life thrown a party before, so she was probably forgetting something... Oh well, too late now. Hopefully if it was anything major, she could run into town and grab it. Or maybe ask someone else to. Were you allowed to ask people to help you with things if you were hosting?

Somebody needed to teach a class on how to throw a party. That was her takeaway from this endeavor.

But okay. This party was as ready as it was gonna be. Now just to wait until people arrived. Which they would. Right? Right.

Technically, Gray wasn't really supposed to fly unsupervised, but it was more of a guideline than a hard and fast rule. There might be an emergency that required he fly, after all, and what was the worst that could happen? He'd fall asleep and do an Icarus into the ocean? He couldn't drown, so he'd just wake up and self-rescue after a while. And Raiden was away across the causeway on some boring pizzeria business Gray hadn't really paid attention to, and he wanted to fly.

So he was, and anyone happening by the beach today might spot a shirtless Nephilim with black feathered wings, up there in the sky or possibly napping on the sand.

After a few days of spectacularly abusing the hell out of her room service priviledges while primarily binge watching some Britishs game shows, Harley had finally vacated Atton's hotel room for good. In part because she was pretty sure he was coming back soon-ish, sure, but mostly because she was more sure Bruce missed her when she only showed up a couple of times a day, and she didn't think she should bring him to the hotel, considering how quick Atton had been about choosing not to go to her place back on Saturday.

So that evening, Harley had taken her stuff back to Needful Things. And now that the rain appeared to have stopped, the girl and her hyena were having some quality time on one of the stretches of beach along Serendipity Place. Harley had picked up a couple of beers, and was sitting by a small picnic spread made up of her final room service order, while Bruce was stalking some nearby porgs.

Everything was... quiet and calm.

And for once, Harley found herself liking it.

After her blowout with Dean - she couldn't really call it a fight since he'd just stood there - Arden had fled Midnight, heading outside where the fresh air would calm her down and help settle her nerves. Yelling at him had been bad enough, but then he'd mentioned fairy law and all she'd been able to do was flee. She had no idea what the Otherside would think of her accidentally breaking the Dėtente with a human from another dimension, even if that human seemed to know about stuff already, but she didn't want to find out, either.

Of course, if Othersider enforcers showed up to collect her for breaking the Dėtente, she'd be dead anyway, just by virtue of what she was.

Between the pollen and the morning and the sheer fucking unfairness of being marked for execution for shit that had happened thousands of years before she was born, just standing outside wasn't helping her relax any. Maybe exhausting herself with a swim would help, but there was no way she was going into water that cold. She was a sylph, not an oread. Even kicking up sand wasn't really doing much for her--

Wait, she wasn't kicking at anything.

But the sand was still blowing around her, little dust devils getting bigger and bigger even as she watched. First they were up to her shins, then her hips, then her head, and finally several spurted up eight or nine feet in the air, like tornados made of sand whirling all around her. It was only when she caught the sharp scent of ozone in the air, felt the strength sapping from her limbs that she realized she was doing this. These dust devils had sprung up from her magic unconsciously spilling out of her and picking up the sand. Her curls whipped in the growing wind, sand stinging at her face.

"Oh no," she said, wide-eyed. "Oh shit. Fuck shit fuck!" How did she...?! Her training had been focused more on not using her powers at all, not stopping once she'd started! "Cut it out, cut it out, okay?" But her growing panic only made the dust devils bigger. "Please stop, please stop, just cut it out, okay?!" she begged, near tears.

Okay, okay, needed to calm down. Just caaaaaaalm the fuck down. She started by taking several deep breaths. And then did the in-for-four, out-for-eight thing she'd heard about. Just concentrated on her breathing, tried to shut out the panic, the fear, the anger, the horniness...everything that was making her anxious right now. "I can do this," she whispered, closing her eyes that were shining bright gold. "I can do this. Just...breathe."

In-for-four, out-for-eight. In-for-four, out-for-eight. In-for-four...

Slowly, the wind died. The scent of ozone and petrichor faded. Sand stopped blowing on her, the feeling of being a reservoir being drained lessened and then stopped completely. She opened one gritty eye to see that there was only a single dust devil left, barely ankle-height, and that disappeared into sand even as she watched. She'd done it. She'd stopped it.

Her legs suddenly gave out and she went toppling to the ground, tired and drained. That was fine. She'd just...stay right here for now. Maybe take a little nap.

Using your powers was exhausting, who knew?

It took Duke an embarrassingly long time to realize why the town seemed so quiet today. In his defense, it'd been a long time since he'd last taught a class and thus paid attention to things like the school vacations.

He wasn't complaining. The quiet suited him right now. It helped him keep what was so far a good day for him going. Which was why he was currently sprawled back on his hands on the sand to watch the waves rather than standing pensively.

He didn't even mind that the bottle at his side was full of birch beer and not something alcoholic. Progress!

The weather was starting to feel more like fall, at least in midatlantic terms, which never failed to make Duke think about Maine. Which was fraught enough normally, but this year. . . .

After everything that had happened this summer, reminders of Haven just ached.

He'd started taking his meds again (and stopped again, and started again, and he really probably should decide if he was going to really take them or not, because this vacillating couldn't be good for his system), so as much as he wanted to have a beer right now, he refrained, sipping from a thermos of coffee instead. At least caffeine was a vice he didn't need to feel vaguely guilty about. The heat of the coffee made a nice counter point to faint damp chill to the air as he watched the waves, a bit rougher than usual with the remnants of the weekend's storm surge.

He wondered what Audrey and Nathan were up to. If Haven had paused again after they'd left, or if they were fighting off more weird evil magic. How they were holding up without the Crocker curse to fall back on when things got especially fraught. He'd wandered down the beach away from the port when he started thinking about them, knowing that trying to tell his partners that he missed them would just get mixed looks of anger and pity.

They didn't get it. Duke couldn't explain it. He knew that Nathan and Audrey had been more than a little terrible to him over the years. He also knew exactly why, and couldn't help but feel on a certain level like he'd deserved it. And anyway, Lucifer and Octavia had never seen the good things Nathan and Audrey had done for him. The times they'd saved his life, or sat with him when he lost someone, or just laughed with him and teased instead of yelling at him. And none of them, not Lucifer or Octavia or Nathan or Audrey, had seen the good that Wade had done. Before he'd given over to the bloodlust of their trouble.

Duke hated these moods. He was pretty sure his meds were supposed to keep them at bay, but he supposed he was too screwed up for them to work perfectly. His therapist had mentioned that he could try a different option if he really felt the one he was on wasn't working, but the very idea of having to start a new med with new side effects and new adjustment periods just exhausted him.

So . . . he went for a walk. Watched the water. Pondered trying to meditate. Or get some weed gummies from town, now that they were legal. And waited for his thoughts and emotions to settle again into something he could actually work with, instead of against.

In the grand tradition of not rudely interrupting plans for parties and picnics, any rain that may or may not have been in the forecast seemed to have been holding off or at least avoiding the island until later that night, when all festivities were over, and could you blame it? Even weather patterns thought it wise not to incur the wrath of Summer Smith with an event on hand.

But, of course, there was no doubt that a section of the beach had been set up for such a party. In fact, it was set up for the baby shower of the year. Sure, it started in the afternoon, but, expecting it to go on a bit into the night, lights had been strung up around the designated party area, in the shape of stars, of course.

Underneath the scattering of pale, pastel beach umbrellas in muted tones of blue, pink, and yellow, were low tables surrounded by soft cushions for sitting, as well as a few taller tables for those who'd prefer standing, as well as beach chairs and blankets, too.

Of course, the theme translated into some seashell motifs scattered here and there, and especially on the food and gift tables, but the real focus of the set-up would be the large canopy which the parents themselves would sit, each with a beachy throne to sit in, and, for the mother-to-be especially, there was a nice little basin of cold water for her too keep her feet in, as well as several little portable AC units to help keep the space cooler.

But still, Summer had also hired over some of the waiters from that cat cafe that serves only pancakes staffed entirely by shirtless hunky dudes to also be shirtless here and walk around with palm fronds to help keep people cool, and also coming around with trays of drinks and snacks.

What? You're welcome?

When she was feeling a little bit restless, Eleanor found her way down to the beach, and she'd started to even pick out favorite spots or preferred little nooks along the shoreline, usually the ones with rocky bits so that when she sat there with her toes in the water, she could contemplate just climbing on top of them and throwing herself in, and swimming out as far as she could, or just watching the sun struggle up over the horizon, fat and red.

The nuns had always discouraged swimming. Too revealing, too dangerous. Currents and riptides and the rise of the two-piece swimsuit were their enemies. Eleanor had always imagined they'd be better at tit than they though, though: that if a nun fell over the side of a boat, her habit would spread like a manta ray, and she would jet through the water, made new. Eleanor moved out into the water a little further, but still not ready to dive in.

It wasn't quite the same, as the water back home; she felt like a different person, while at school, but not the same person here as she was at St. Brigid's. She hadn't realized, there, what she missed, or what she loved, but then she was home, and she remembered, and now home was gone and the sorrow was catching up with her again. Better to have loved and lost, they said, but was it really? It felt like having her heart restored to her only for it to break again, several times in the last year.

She thought, again, about just diving in, but something held her back. As if she knew if she did, she wouldn't bother coming back. So, for now, Eleanor just stood in the water, her toes digging into the sand, and watched the sun come up while contemplating her place under it.

And wishing she could have just slept in like a normal teenager would probably be doing on a Saturday morning. But what did that even mean, around here, really?

Teddy had wanted to go exploring and wanted to see if he could find any trilobites. This had definitely thrilled Cutter and so after breakfast that morning, which Tabby had made again, she was not trusting either Cutter or Connor with the kitchen while she was there.

So now they were all at the beach, carefully exploring the shore for any signs of trilobites, which they weren’t having much luck with even though Cutter was having fun pointing out other different fossils for Teddy and Tabby while they were trying to find said trilobites.

So after the Snake Incident, both Buck and Eddie were not exactly chomping at the bit to hang out back at the station. So a walk around the island it was, looking for sus things. The last time it happened they ran into a half-dead teenager, which had been an interesting change of pace.

What were the odds of that happening twice?

The weather wasn't the best, but Rey didn't mind it, and she didn't know of a tricked-out warehouse she could use instead. She'd be fine out here for a while as she ran drills. She was faster and doing more complicated things that anyone in Fandom might have seen, blue blade cutting through the air as she twisted and turned and cut down so many invisible enemies.

Plus with this bad feeling, it could be practice.

There was a beach here! The town looked weird, but a beach was familiar, and there were a lot less tourists on this one, so Jon could explore and toss shells in the water and nobody could tell him not to. And probably the police wouldn't come by and drag him back to Gran's, either. Probably.

So he was investigating the beach to find anything interesting, and sometimes just stopping to build a lopsided tower of sand, just because he could.

So, McGarrett had been an otter for almost a week now, and though his brain wasn't really firing like a human, he was pretty sure that it was incredibly awesome being an otter. He had a cool rock he was using to bash oysters and sometimes other rocks shhhh he wasn't amazing at being an otter yet okay, he was basically living in the ocean when Danny left a door unlocked and gave Steve three seconds unsupervised.

He was back in the water now, riding the waves and loving his life. Occassionally loving his life including yelling harassment at the porgs. They knew what they did.

"Breq, are you ok?"

Seivarden knelt next to her, leaning forward, a silhouette against the sky above, worry in her voice. Breq blinked.

"I'm fine."

She pushed herself up to sitting, her body involuntarily flinching as she put weight on her arm.

"Just hand me the medkit. The armor absorbed most of it."

Breq had survived worse things just during the past year, but she didn't think that would stop Seivarden from being excessively worried. There was no need to point that out though.

"The force of the shuttle could have crushed your arm," Seivarden pointed out, her gesture a little less dramatic than Breq would have expected. "Even with the armor."

"Or you," Breq observed. "If I hadn't pulled you out. I hope they didn't manage to breach the hull with that explosion, they wouldn't manage the evacuation.

Her arm really did hurt.

"Oh, Aatr's tits!" Reaching for the medkit, Seivarden had looked up, catching sight of the familiar outline of Fandom. "Fuck, I should have guessed."

Breq turned her head slightly, trying not to move her arm. "At least it will be easy to get a portal back to Athoek quickly."

Seivarden might have improved considerably since Breq had found her on Nilt, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to come across as anything other than a Radchaai from a prestigious family, which meant that there were plenty pf places she was a liability. Still, Breq had become used to her presence, to her sincere attempts at being useful and to what she had come to realise was being expressions of love.

"It's broken." Seivarden slowly pulled Breq's coat off her shoulder, then tugged one of the correctives out of the medkit. "We should get to Athoek as soon as possible and let Medic have a look at hit. You know what the medics here are like."

Breq didn't comment on that.

"And we can finally get some decent tea," Seivarden added.

[I'm making a random appearance today, post very open if you want to stop by and talk to Breq and Seivarden]

It was getting cooler every day it seemed and Billy knew it would be just a matter of time before it was too cold to really enjoy the water. It was already a bit too chilly for swimming or surfing as it was.

So, before he was forced to rely solely on the holosuit in the shop for his watery needs, Billy was going to enjoy a walk along the beach. Now that the island was mostly empty, seemed like a good time to enjoy some down time. An if one of the few souls who had been left behind for the week was about, they were welcome to join him as well.

Luke had enjoyed his time reconnecting with family over the weekend: responsibilities back home meant that he didn't have a lot of time to come and say hello. The relief on his father's face--and the unusually strong hug--made him think that he might need to make returning more often more of a priority.

Anakin had mentioned that Rey wanted to talk with him, too, although he'd left exactly why a bit more vague than Luke preferred. He supposed that old Jedi vagueness habits died hard. He left Rey a message and settled down on the beach to watch the weird little birds come close to him, freak right out and run away.

It was really odd.

So, yesterday had been a lot. Like really a lot, thanks to his old man showing up out of the blue. Things had not gone well and Dwight was trying to find a way to process and deal with it all that didn't involve strangling the man.... Who as far as he knew was still on the island somewhere.

With sleep basically impossible, as soon as it was light enough Dwight left the shop to go for his morning run. It quickly devolved into a jog, and then a walk, until finally, he just came to a stop. It wasn't long before Dwight found himself sitting on one of the rocks at the water's edge staring out at the slowly brightening sky.

After classes were over (or roughly, it wasn't like he kept track like some kind of creeper), he put on his favorite Hawaiian shirt from the Shenanigans--the Hot Dog Bigfoots--and headed down to the beach.

In a little while, there were four fires roaring merrily: three on different grills with a variety of meats, one sequestered just for pork products, and one for vegetarian options. Steve'd even sourced some fresh ahi again and was feeling particularly pleased with himself about that.

The fourth fire was a cute little bonfire with neatly stacked rejected Shenanigan shirts placed a safe distance from it, along with buckets of water and sand for fire safety (and because McGarrett had 100 percent been a Boy Scout).

There were coolers of drinks including one of beer with a sign--"If you are from the HS and take a beer at a cop party, you're dumber than we thought and are v sad for you"--as the only disincentive.

Come on down, Fandom! Say goodbye to the summer. Eat food, drink beer, get rid of polyblend if that's your thing...

Travis had said it wouldn't work, but he hadn't yet said it was dangerous, either, and Jon knew people sometimes did bonfires on the beach, so...here he was, on the beach. With an ever-growing pile of luggage, matches, and quite a bit of accelerant.

He'd let Summer know about what he was doing, and he'd planned it with Irene, after all, so he had no doubt word would get out.

Self-loathing was absolutely going to be the basis of this fire. The more it came back, the more tinder it could be.

Liz hadn’t felt the best yesterday and had only managed to get to class but today she felt well enough to go for a proper walk that morning and try and clear her head.

In her distraction, Liz had completely forgotten about it being world photography day yesterday and so she was making up for it by walking along the beach, taking as many different photos as she could.

Last week had definitely been a Thing, so Miguel was absolutely on the beach today with plenty of booze.

And a panther. And no, Rosa, panthers did not get whiskey.

Or beer.

There was a steak for the panther, and a twelve-pack of decent beer and a bottle of tequila for anyone who showed up. That was human or human-adjacent.

The Drunk and Bored club was in session!

It was a fairly decent morning and Billy was itching to do some surfing. REAL surfing. The holo simulations were great for a convenient and quick session, but there was just something about a natural wave that no simulation could ever full capture.

By early morning, Billy was down at the beach that morning, surfboard and cooler in hand, and a couple of Porgs following after him curiously. So, if anyone was around the beach they would likely catch a glimpse of Billy enjoying the cooler water and the happy sounding squawks of the Porgs whenever he managed to catch a particularly good wave.

Instead of spending his shift doing nothing at the station, Buck decided to go find a disaster himself. He took Eddie with him, since trying to find trouble alone was boring. Eventually they ended up at the beach. Maybe they'd find someone drowning, that'd be something to do. Oh, or a shark that needed help again! That was cool.

"I already have sand in my shoes."

[For myself, Eddie, and Eddie (who is also myself). Though it's a big ass beach so if you want to use it for something else, go for it. This here is where Stranger Things spoilers be, so head's up if you want to avoid it]

Though the morning had started with a mighty swim, a fresh catch for lunch, and a little bit of just basking in the pleasant (to a Zora, anyway) humidity, Sidon figured it was now time to move on to squeezing in a bit of land work. He'd managed to find an incredibly long (taller than even he was, so you know it was something to behold!) piece of driftwood that worked well for a practice trident, and then set to going through a variety of different forms and moves and flips and other various acrobatics, intent to keep at it until he was too tired and covered in sand, or perhaps a good reason for a break came along.

Certainly not a terrible way to spend an afternoon at all! It certainly beat just hanging around underneath the docks all day!

It was hot. And while staying inside was nice, Dwight was getting a bit stir crazy being cooped up in the shop and apartment. Snoopy was refusing to spend more than 10 minutes outside so Dwight decided to head down to the beach by the lighthouse and enjoy the water a bit.

It was still a refreshing cool change from the seemingly ever-increasing temperatures the last week or so, and he was also getting in a bit of a workout at the same time. So Dwight was gonna call it a win and win and enjoy the water for a bit. At least till i started to get too dark. But that was still a few good hours off.

After a visit to T&C the other day for some supplies, Billy had things set up and ready to go for that day's class if anyone showed up. The rain that morning had cooled things down a little but it was still good weather for a swim. And the waves would be especially good following the small storms too. There were a couple surfboards on the beach along with a cooler and few other odds and ends.

With everything set and ready, Billy decided to warm up with a quick swim and a couple practice runs with his own board. He was there, on the beach or in the water, if anyone needed him.

The beach was... well, it wasn't not a place Lucifer liked to come. He had many great beachside memories. Usually in a speedo, and surrounded by people in equally small clothing. But it wasn't his place the way it had been Duke's for quite some time.

Times had changed over the past few years, though, hadn't it?

And so it was nostalgia that sent Lucifer ambling towards the beach in a crisp white shirt and far too expansive tan trousers. He had a cooler in one hand, and a beach chair in the other.

With a flick of his wrist, he unfolded the chair and set it down on the sand. He set the cooler down beside him, and flicked it open.

It was full of rather expensive sodas and alcohol.

Was he here to throw a party? No. He was here to wallow happily in sun and nostalgia, however. So he stretched out his legs, grabbed a cocktail from his cooler, and stared out at the water.

Miguel still had beer with him tonight, but also a bottle of rosé and a big bottle of good gin.

Hey, it was a national holiday (or two).

There was a bonfire to hopefully keep the insects away, and there was drink. What else did you need for a Drunk and Bored club?

Anybody and everybody had been invited, and if nobody came, hey - Miguel would have a lot of gin.

Liz had agreed to meet Steven at the beach so that she should could show him how photography worked and take some photos with him, so she had her polaroid camera with her as well as her more modern camera that she liked to use for her more professional photos. Even though most of the photos she took were random moments, she did like nature photography and it was a nice day so she thought it would at least be a nice way to distract herself for a couple of hours at least.

She always enjoyed talking about photography and she was looking forward to being able to share her favourite and well really only hobby so while she waited for Steven, she took the opportunity to take some shots of the beach.

The time when the weather was warming was one of Sidon's favorite times of year here, and he was planning on taking full advantage of it today. Inspired by the excellent fare provided at the picnic (and the attention spared for his own delicate dietary sensibilities), he had spent the morning out scrounging up some fine catches from the Atlantic deep and, now well fed and well fueled, focused on the open water just off the beach to run a variety of speed trials for himself, working as well on his jumps and leaps and flips, both among the waves and from the waves to the sand. Often, he's swim out far, far, far in the distance and then jet himself for the shore at full speed to test how close he could get before launching himself out with a mighty spray of water and a ferocious jump, to see how many flips he could manage before crouching a perfect landing on the beach....without running aground first!

He liked to think he was doing very well for himself, really (and that it would be quite the show for anyone nearby!), but he was also sure he could do better, and so it frequent back again.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat! He'd certainly be sleeping well tonight from this excellent workout indeed!

[[ the odds that work is luring me into a false sense of security about not being too busy is HIGH, but open beach is totally open! ]]
