The Beach; Friday Evening [06/20] - Summer's Summer Beach Birthday Bash!

After a day of hard work (not by Summer herself, of course, she had other people to do that for her while she mostly just lounged and got a good suntan and pregamed while directing the preparations), the beach was set up for her big birthday beach party, and she couldn't be happier. It had, of course, all the trappings one might expect from such a thing: tiki torches, bonfire, volleyball court, and so, so much more, but she'll get into that in the OCD threads!

Summer herself was, of course, feeling those beach vibes and at that point was pretty much just eager to have people show up, barely even worried anymore that people wouldn't, which, you know, was a nice thing to reflect on, because that showed character growth and maturity as she moved on into this, her twenty-fifth year of life.

Also, well, as you'll see, she pretty much hired about half the town to help her out, so she was already guaranteed a small crowd from that alone.

Gladio was already there...and already shirtless...because he had helped Summer with some of the set-up, but once things got going for the party proper, he was definitely getting a drink and contemplating how long it would take for him to go bug Iggy at his grill until he was threatened with bamboo skewers.

Well, Tony couldn't be anywhere else with a party going on, so there he was. In a pair of sunglasses and beachwear that was possibly designer because, well, Tony Stark.

He was for sure grabbing a drink before going to tease Steve over at the grill.

Stark was there, having gone back and changed into clean clothes after helping lug heavy things around earlier in the day.

Prompto probably wasn't going to be here for long, probably just enough to have Noctra get out some energy running around so she'd go down easily for sleep once they did leave. Plus, it gave him the chance to say hi to people, wish Summer a happy birthday, and snag some good food while he was here, too.

But his eyes went wide as he set Noctra down and she immediately went running across the...

"Oh, no."

Sand.

Ohhh, he was going to be cleaning up sand in the apartment for at least a week now, wasn't he?

Liz wasn’t sure how much energy she was going to have for a party but she definitely wanted to stop by for a bit and she was looking forward to spending sometime outside.

Luma was pretty sure she didn't know who was throwing this party from a hole in the wall, but, as someone who'd never really been to parties (and the one big one she'd been to had been a disaster, besides), she couldn't help being incredibly curious. She wasn't really sure about a lot of the swimwear they had at the shop, but she wasn't planning on swimming anyway, so she figured something cute and doing her hair a little would suffice.

Once she got to the beach, though, she felt some of her confidence waning, unsure of what to do, and not realizing just how many people there were going to be. It still surprised her, being around groups of people she didn't know, but she figured, if anything, she could gravitate toward the smell of grilled meat and have something to eat before fleeing back to the safety of the dorms.

... well, he was showing up in a nice white henley and slightly tanner pants than usual, so that was something. He did not show up to mingle, mainly out of concern that the 'enemies' outranked the 'friends', but hey.

Harley had the cutest beach wear - at least if you asked Harley herself, which you should, because she considered herself the only person worth listening to on this matter. At least... out of the people likely to turn up for this party.

Anyway! It was all red and black and a little bit sparkly, and if people hadn't already been aware that she was ghoulishly pale and also had a bunch of tattoos along her upper back, the top of her chest, her arms and her thighs, well, they sure would be aware now!

She was also going to grab a drink, first thing. How else did you start a party?

Liliana was hardly one to miss a party, darling, and especially not for Summer. While she had not been part of the set up brigade (and would not be part of the clean up brigade, either, but could be persuaded to summon a few zombies to take care of things), she was still arrived on the early-ish side. All the better to settle into the sunshine, get something to eat and drink, and appreciate the view.

Boc didn't really have a phone to receive texts, nor would he be able to read them anyway, but there was somethng clearly going on at the beach that evening. The music made it sound like a party, but then his nose caught the scent of food, which continued to confirm that it was a party, but a party that he reasoned might be worth taking maybe a peek at, to see what food might be able to be snuck away without anyone noticing or being too offended by his presence.

Maybe if he just grabbed some snacks from the pavilion? A lot of the other stuff did smell like meat, after all, which he tried to avoid, but, oh, did it smell amazing...

There is a pavilion set to the side with some tables and coolers of drinks and a small buffet of the usual moddable beach party fare, but there are also...DUELING GRILLMASTERS!

Set around the party, there are three grilling stations for two of Summer's most culinary friends....and a Steeeeeeve. Because if you had the chance to have Captain America grilling at your beach birthday party, why wouldn't you take it??

Hopefully Steve wasn't too close to the bartenders because being too close to dueling Thors was the only way his biceps looked less impressive.

He was in a tight white t-shirt, jeans, and a "Kiss the Cook" apron that Tony told him was hilarious, and as long as you wanted your burgers cooked and maybe with cheese, he had you handled. Go to the other guys for the fancy stuff.

To suit the beach theme and to facilitate the sort of mobilization of Summer's particular socialization style, Ignis decided that his offers at the party would focus heavily on skewers.

There were his classic staples from his Hunter days, such as his three-mushroom kebabs, prairie-style skewers, and the lovingly nicknamed Krazy Kebobs, he was also going to be doing some seafood, barbecued tofu, grilled fruit, and even a nice caprese.

How he managed to find all the time for this while also planning for his own party next week was a great mystery.

Or simply an testament to his impeccable time-management.

Hannibal was always happy to help a friend, and always happy to cook, so clearly this was win/win!

He was dressed in a linen suit and had left off both waistcoat and tie, but had managed to find a hat he liked, and both said hat and his suit were a lovely shade of pink, in honor of the birthday celebrant.

Even one of the foods was pink! He started with cedar-planked salmon with juniper and wild berry glaze. It took up one corner of the giant gourmet grill he'd gotten Liliana's zombies to bring to the beach for him. Then there was sausage-stuffed calamari, and leg of lamb with lemon, garlic, and rosemary.

Off to the other side, he had grilled fruit skewers with watermelon, plantains, pineapple, and pears, and a section with mesh on it that would hopefully keep the s'mores sitting on it from dripping through too badly.

He was in his element and very happy!

And just as there are different grill stations around the party, there are also two bars for the DUELING BARTENDERS!

But not just any dueling bartenders, actually. Dueling Thor bartenders!

Because when you had two Norse gods of thunder who worked at the local watering holes, why wouldn't you want the serving your drinks at your birthday??

Have you noticed the theme yet? Well, if you hadn't, maybe the two different DJ booths at different spots at the party would be that final piece to the puzzle. And the nice things about DUELING DJs was that it meant more chances for a good variety of music and each of them could take a break every once in a while, because Summer didn't actually want them playing at the same time, that would be a mess.

Stewart (his usual staple of a sequined suit for his performances taking on a distinct nod to the woman of hte hour) had spent a lot of time curating a set-list for tonight. Probably too much, especially if it dissolved the way all of his past Letterkenny wedding DJ gigs did, which was people making requests for things like boogies based around boots or silly dances devoted to farm-standard birds. Maybe if the EDM in the meantime was putting him in a good mood, he might field suggestions without hissing at people when they came up to his booth, but, considering who the party was for, there were a lot more typical pop-centric staples in what he was playing, although he leaned mostly into where he knew there was some intersections between their tastes: Gaga, Marina, Yaosobi, sneaking in the occasional Electric Callboy to get some harder elements in, and so, so many Beach Boys trance-dance remixes...

Ooh, he should throw in some Beach Bunny while he was at it, too. Some Beaches? Oh, and the Beaches (Canada, represent). ...Nude Beach? Beach House, Wavves, LS Dunes...

And that's how Stewart ended up creating a new set within his set to add to that set.
