After getting settled at the hotel, Isabel made her way to the Perk. Finals were starting on Monday and she planned on getting some studying done while she waited for her coffee date.

Of course she'd probably get more studying done if she actually paid attention to her notes instead of watching who was coming and going in case it was someone she knew.

During the night, Fandom had been covered in a blanket of fresh snow that was just thick enough to turn everything crisp and white. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

Meg was shocked and appalled at the state of this bar. How was she supposed to show off her creativity and quirkiness in a dump like this? There wasn't enough glitter, wasn't enough half-naked men in leather pants and there certainly wasn't enough random giant dogs lounging around. This was unacceptable! She will never be a famous pop star at this rate. She'll be stuck in this crap town forever.

"My life is ruined!" Meg said dramatically. She pointed at Tino. "You, send a martini to the back. I need it to cope!"

Through some completely unbelievable convenient twist of fate, Wade was able to be outside during the day. Because filming at night was hell on the schedule.

He stood by the pond, staring at the lack of animals as he brooded on his life. He had the perfect husband and daughter, and yet...

And yet, he was still the monster he'd been since that fateful day so many years ago in Amsterdam. No one ever warned him about it! Why did no one warn him of the dangers of going to a brothel?! "I'll find a cure before they find out," He promised the audience. "And then we'll finally be able to live happily ever after. As god as my witness... i will find a cure."

Town Hall was all decked out in harvest theme with this being so close to Halloween and all. Pumpkins and squash and random corn! The corn, people! Think of the corn! But please, for the love of all that is holy, don't allow your children near it. Especially not the creepy gingers.

There was plenty of food and punch--not yet spiked--set to the side of the spacious room. Which left plenty of space for the general mulling about that kids were so fond of these days. Or dancing. And even the occasional dark bits in which to lurk. Have a fun homecoming, kiiiiids and remember to vote!

Antarctica, huh? Looked pretty. She'd have to get over there and check out the penguins and all that.

She wasn't sure why everyone was so bundled up. It was, like, 50 or something out. You didn't even need a jacket for that.

Anyway. Caritas was open, and running a special on frozen drinks.

Having handwavily let people know that they might want to wear beachy-type clothes today, Xander stood in front of several coiled-up garden hoses, and pointed to the biggest area of clear grass available.

"Since we're just about done here, I figured we could do a little lawn-care before we hit the road." Because a globe-hopping island totally didn't get enough moisture on its own, right.

And the extra-long, adult-sized Slip-n-Slides? Secret hi-tech lawn-tenderizing tool of master gardeners everywhere.

"Try to at least get some water on the grass?"

Hades was irritated. The Nightmares' food had been taken by the raiding party and he'd fallen prey to the oldest distraction in the book. But it didn't matter. That wasn't part of the main plan, it was only a fun side venture. The Nightmares would be able to get food again once they were able to come through to the surface. Fandom would be his soon enough. Enough of Andrew's personal energy and life force had been put into the barrier. It was doing the rest of the work on its own now. Just a little longer and Fandom would be officially connected to Tartarus, making it (by Olympian law) part of the Underworld and his domain.

Just a little longer. Then all he would have to do is appear on the island, grab the nearest live person, transport back here and throw them into the barrier to kill them when it was charging up to make the connection permanent.

So close. So very close.

Town Hall was still effectively the center of command as those in charge waited for the away teams to return, and continued to form contingency plans for dealing with Hades. Today, there were...flowers. In little trays. And more Pez-shaped bricks to put around the flower beds. And there was a Xander standing next to them who knew what to do with the Pez-shaped bricks, but was sort of flailing helplessly at the plants.

It was okay, though. He had a list. Which he read off very carefully to the assembled masses. While he inwardly prayed there was somebody among the graduates who knew how to take care of plants that weren't arm-eating and holographic.

And then he started making borders, because bricks, he could do. He'd never managed to kill a brick yet. Except intentionally, with a wrecking ball.

Today there were bricks. Bricks and bricks and bricks. There was also a Xander standing next to them, and a dirt-trail already laid out for paving.

"No power tools or heavy machinery, what'm I gonna safety-lecture about?" he asked, scratching his head. Then he snorted. "Oh wait, this is Fandom, and I've met you people. Don't throw them, don't eat them, don't trade them to anybody for magic beans..."

There was more. It went on for a while. At one point he paused to feed a Twinkie to the small blue deer that nudged gently at his knee. That kind of while.

[OOC: is up! Grad project, but open to anybody who wants to help beautify the park.]

It was such a nice day that Lana decided to take a blanket to the beach and get some sun. She'd thought about heading to Selkie Cove, but decided she felt more like sand than rocks today.

God help her, Robin had no idea how she'd gotten talked into opening the bar tonight, but here she was, opening the damn bar, and on the night when some kid was having a party there too. When Meg suggested to Lilly that they have ice cream for dinner, Lilly's eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning.

"But you never let me have ice cream for dinner," Lilly said.

"Well, today's a special occasion," Meg said. "Okay, not so much a special occasion. But the last time I cooked for kids in this town I ended up smelling like syrup for a week."

That was good enough reason for Lilly. When they got to Chilly Boulder, Lilly decided to get a sundae with one of every flavor of ice cream and for some reason Meg allowed it. It came in a huge glass bowl with one of those long spoons that people put in root beer floats. Lilly was in heaven. Meg was just sitting on her side of the booth, sipping a milkshake. She didn't get her own ice cream since she figured Lilly was going to ask for help with hers eventually.

Not far from where the Skeleton Tea had been held earlier in the day, there was a tent that had been erected, with thiny, gauzy material and bone-like poles. Not dirty. The lights were soft as the evening grew darker, casting a welcoming, yet vaguely spooky illumination on the proceedings.

The proceedings of PROM.

One side of the tent was open, backing against a grove of trees; there were a few lights among them, but for the most part they offered shadowy nooks for anyone who wished to be a bit apart from the main action. The rest of the tent was enclosed, save for the entrance, and the same skeletons who'd worked the Tea earlier were at the refreshments table, ready and willing to serve any students or chaperones who approached. At one end of the table was the ballot box for prom court voting.

The music was just getting started, and the dance floor was yet to fill up, but regardless, Fandom High Prom 2008 was underway!

[Wait for OCD is up! Have fun, everyone!]

Robin was feeling particularly hot tonight.

(No, she was not wearing the goddamn bradigan.)

Perhaps it was her hair. Perhaps it was how much she'd slept.

The world may never know.

The Park, all day

Somewhere around dawn, a tent mysteriously appeared in the middle of the park. There was an air of mystery about it, and it was hard not to miss, and did we mention it was mysterious? Because it was.

Inside the tend was an equally mysterious fortuneteller, and you could tell she was a fortuneteller because of all the candles and the tarot cards and the crystal ball. Not many people travel with those things for fun and set them up in a tent, you know?

She'd be here probably all day, welcoming those who may be curious to get insight into their own futures...

It was really, really warm and sunny out, at least for the moment, so Dawn decided to take advantage of it--she gathered a bag of essentials (two books, sunscreen, a blanket, a frizbee and a large bottle of water), changed into shorts and a halter top, and remembered what it was like to be from California.

Across the town, the school, and the dorms, fliers had been put up to inform everyone of a town meeting taking place tonight (with a bold, capitalized note at the bottom warning everyone to be careful getting to the town hall). Zoe waited for as many people as possible to arrive and get settled before she got up and addressed the crowd.

"Thank you all for coming on such short notice tonight," she said. "We wanted to get everyone together to share some new information that was found today. Our researchers have found some possible evidence concerning the angels, and some of the people who have gone missing." She picked up the notes she'd been given, and read what the researchers had found.

"As much as I don't want to do this, I need to ask for volunteers," she continued. "We need people to go and get this information, or to talk to these folks, so we can figure out how to stop the angels, and get everyone back. I won't turn away students who want to help, but you're going to be sent with adults to make sure all of you come back in one piece. If you want to stay here, that's perfectly fine. I want to remind all of you that there are safehouses being set up throughout town, to make sure that no one has to be alone right now. Travel in numbers, and always look around you. If you do that, you'll stay safe. I'll be here to answer any questions, and to take the names of those who want to volunteer. The floor is open for anyone who has something else they'd like to say."

[OCD is up! If you're on one of the away teams, you can handwave coming to the meeting and volunteering, if you want.]

Wyatt had orbed Isabel down to the store so she could avoid the angels. After the previous week, he wasn't going to let her take any chances and to be honest, Isabel agreed with him. Cheerful, happy and definitely looking forward to the evening, Isabel opened the store on time, ready to help with any last minute Valentine's needs.

There were pool tables, there were lanes for bowling, there were fully moddable snacks and drinks, and there was a birthday cake.

All that was needed was a birthday boy. And he was going to be there soon.

Isabel was just a little excited.

When Robin came in and found out that there was going to be some kid's birthday party here, she immediately took an inventory to make sure all the hard liquor was stocked up.

It's just past sunset, and the roof of the apartment building is set up for a party. With the intermittent storms all day, Bridge thought it best to set up tarps over the food table, even if it hadn't actually rained at all.

Said food table's got things like moon pies, and White Castle burgers, and pizza... they're all moon related, in a way.

There's also a table with slingshots and cheese, but that cheese isn't for eating. It's for throwing at the moon. As you do.

Music that's probably vaguely moon-related in some way is playing, and Hate the Moon Day? Is officially underway.

[ooc: Expecting a few people, but open to ABSOLUTELY ANYONE who'd like to investigate wtf anyone's doing on the roof. Another weekend, another bout of weirdness Anders had missed out on completely. Pity his weekends seemed to start out in this state of blissful unawareness that inevitably ended up completely dashed on Sunday nights, didn't it?

That was why Tino had taken to stashing a separate bottle of booze beneath the bar on Sunday nights. Just in case.

Not because he was being nice to Anders -- just because he wanted to be able to mock Anders for having to resort to it, see.

Sam had been thinking about Professor Stinson's offer on and off all day. After taking his final, he wasn't sure what kind of grade he would have in Love Smart, and that didn't sit well with him at all. Of course, the idea of streaking didn't sit well with him either, but it wasn't quite as bad as the thought of not getting an A.

It's possible Sam's priorities were a little skewed.

Hoping that no one but the news squirrels would see him, Sam stripped down, but held onto his shirt in case he suddenly needed to cover himself up. After a few moments of shivering in the cold air, he finally took off running. Someday, when he'd gotten accepted to college, this would hopefully seem a lot more amusing. Of course, that was assuming he lived long enough to apply, after Dawn killed him for doing this while she wasn't around.

The memorial service was held on the flat hilltop overlooking the ocean, and at its edge rested an old-fashioned wooden boat, worn and weathered. There were chairs for those still too weak to stand and four torches, burning steadily, set in the ground at the four cardinal points. The day was bright and clear, a light breeze blowing out to sea, but despite that, the torches never flickered.

Karal, dressed in formal robes of black and gold, stood in front of the boat, waiting patiently while people arrived.

Christian was upset when he found out one of the kids had died the day before and was pissed at himself for taking the day off. The island had been through a lot while he'd been here, but one of the kids dying was unacceptable. He was frustrated by his inability to reach anyone outside the island. No ordering more supplies, no consulting with contagious disease experts. The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor.  It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas.  Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom.  Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner.  The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.
