Gregorith was greatly enjoying the fish and chips he'd procured, though he was side eying the seagulls who seemed to be sizing him up, as if trying to gauge his reflexes.

He was also enjoying the temperature, though his enjoyment was tempered by the knowledge that this was not ideal for most people.

He even had a cooler with him in case anyone came by looking like they needed a cold drink.

It was finally warm enough out for Gregorith to go for a walk after dark. He suspected it was a trap, that the temperature tomorrow or the next day would plummet again, but for now it was quite pleasant.

So after enjoying a meal, a succulent Mexican meal, he sat on a bench with his leftover nachos, silently daring the seagulls to try to steal any.

He would however be willing to share with any passers by.

Gregorith had decided to test the waters a bit and was without his disguise as he sat on a bench looking out over the water. It was making him feel a bit on edge, waiting for...he didn't know what, so he was looking a bit extra scowly.

He was attempting to relieve this anxiety with his sketchbook. He was either jotting down art project ideas while doodling a rough approximation of the view, or sketching the view while idly jotting down ideas.

Bird bath, planter, scrying bowl, abstract sculpture, coffee mug.

The big one that he'd circled was a physical map of the island that could come apart to illustrate how it had grown.

He was more interruptable than he probably realized.

Lucifer had gone to bed angry, and woken up slightly less so. Still, enough so that he'd gone for a walk. At least one of his partners had proven less than receptive to his frustration, and he did not particularly want to hear any of Octavia's pithy dismissals, even if she did have, perhaps, a quarter of a point.

But he didn't go far. It had been quite warm of late, and years in LA, followed by years with boat people, had made him rather amenable to the ocean.

(He was not, on the other hand, going to cop to Duke's fashion sense inspiring him to wander out in just an unbuttoned white shirt and some black slacks.)

He found a set of steps leading down from the boardwalk to the water, no doubt a place to put a sloop or some other minor baby boat, and sat down at the very edge. He dangled his lower legs into the water, and brought his flask full of precious (currently rare) scotch to his mouth, took a sip, and sighed.

Yes. Much better.

After a fairly restless night, which was kind of to be expected after all considering he was still in a town he didn't know and sleeping in an apartment that was clearly not meant for someone of his size... (No Edge, you had just gotten soiled from all the posh hotels you got to stay at when on the road.)  Soon as it was light enough outside he was out of the apartment and back wandering the island, with his freshly charged phone, still trying to get a signal.

Eventually Edge found himself on the boardwalk so he stopped for a bit to enjoy the view as the sky slowly lit up more as the sun rose higher on the other side of the island. Though he would be hard pressed to admit it out loud to anyone, he was kind of enjoying the small break from the madness and insanity. He couldn't remember the last time he had been ale to get a spontaneous break. And maybe there would be hell to pay with Vince later, but for now, he was going to try and just enjoy the down time and appreciate the place and the people here on this peculiar little island.

So Steve was still investigating the mysterious loss of Stark's mask and Liam had mentioned going down to see the raccoons running a craft brewery.

Which, naturally, meant that now Steve had to see raccoons running a craft brewery, and drag Danny along (via siren-accessorized rickshaw) because it was gonna be hilarious.

He walked into the warehouse and was not at all surprised to see it decked out in hipster aesthetic--wine barrel tables, lots of Mason jars--and so. many. shiny. things just...everywhere.

"Well," he said aloud, "raccoons. Hey, Danny, you speak raccoon?"

For a person who spent a lot of her time nearby at the docks, Octavia didn't tend to visit the boardwalk much. Not when it wasn't just barely dawn and she was walking along it as part of her usual daily patrol before anyone else was even awake, and there was no one else there, anyway.

But this afternoon, she was there, taking in how it looked on a calm and quiet Sunday afternoon. No particular reason, and she was likely to end up at the Rouge later, but for now... There was something about the boardwalk that had called to her.

Maybe it was the snacks.

Because right this moment, she wasn't walking. She'd bought a funnel cake on a whim, and had stopped to stand by the railing overlooking the water to enjoy it. Or at least eat it. So far, she wasn't very impressed with it.

But like with so many things lately, she was glad she was here to get to try it.

Parties were always a good time!

Especially right on Wednesdays and their super fun games! Nina was, like, a little sad that she had to miss the super fun games in order to set up for the party but then, like, it was a party and people were going to be so happy so it was hard to get too sad about it as she set out the food (all plastic and completely inedible, but pretending was more fun anyway!) and got the hugging booths ready and even, with a great deal of effort, got cute little balloons set up just right to make the boardwalk super festive.

She'd, like, thought of having it in the dorms but then realized she didn't want to exclude anyone and by then it was too late to ask if they could use a building in town and, sure, there was the beach, but…

Had a party ever been done on the boardwalk before? She couldn't remember! And if, like, she couldn't remember, then most people wouldn't either! Which would mean her party would be even more new and exciting and fun and--oh, she really had to give Sabine another hug for giving her this wonderful idea!

It was just so much fun!

Kaidan felt a little betrayed by the ground, which had so far not opened a pit under his feet and swallowed him.

So far. The night was still young. He had hope.

What an embarrassing social gaffe to make, and then it went out on the radio, which meant the possibility of bribing Kanan to skip mentioning it to Peter had just flown out the window.

The C.I.C. had been mostly dead, customers pleading fatigue and signing out early, so Kaidan had closed up and headed to the Boardwalk to check out the lighthouse and maybe grab some dinner. It was a place he had not bumped into either Kanan or Peter, so far, which added to its appeal.

The sun was starting to set, turning the water shadow dark while the sky churned between orange and pink. The port area began to come to life with colorful neon signs while the lighthouse beam swept through the fading daylight.

Strains of music came from one of the businesses:
Oh when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot you wish your tired feet were fire proof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

The portal opened without fanfare, spitting out a blue, scarred woman. She flexed herself into a roll despite the awkward position she was launched out in, and came up in a defensive crouch. Her gold eyes stared wide and terrified around at her surroundings, shock holding her frozen for several long moments.

She recognized this place. She had no idea why or how. She was torn between her instinct to shift and run, and a curiosity that told her to explore.

Finally, the Raven Woman began to slowly straighten. She'd escaped the Colony, and there was no telltale chatter of exes in the distance. Maybe, just maybe -- she could be free.

The boardwalk wasn't the carnival, but it had funnel cakes and ice cream, vendors, tourists, and there were the rails. It wasn't the same, but close. So close. The sun on her skin felt good, and if she focused, she could ignore the constant tugging of the nearby ocean in the back of her brain.

Autumntime was harvesttime. Harvesttime was Carnival time, and Ada had to do something or she was going to scream in frustration at being away from her family for so long. If she couldn't go back to the carnival yet...she'd make her own.

And so it came to pass that Ada was currently balanced atop one of the rails, bare feet running lightly along the metal as executed a pirouette, much the joy of her enraptured audience. They were too busy enthralled by how effortless she stood there to notice the slightly-webbed toes. Besides, she'd body-glittered it up today even more than usual, to hide the scales. "To your left, we have the shopping," she said, sweeping a bow and kicking one leg out behind her to the applause of passing NPC people. "You could go down to the beach and get sand in uncomfortable places, of course, but we have funnel cakes and ice cream, entertainment and a lighthouse. Restaurants galore, and trinkets you've never seen before. And when the sun goes down, we're just getting started!"

"Now, who's going to be next to try and find my pretty seashell?" Of course she was running a shell game. She didn't have an actual event to barker for, so Ada might as well make some cash for herself. "A dollar a try, four tries for three!"

It was unusually hot today.

Fall, he knew, was on its way but summer was hanging on as tightly as it could. Jasper knew that it'd be hot and sticky in Lobo's Nod, humidity dripping from the buildings and trees. He could picture G. William sweating through his uniform while he ordered his deputies around.

Jasper closed his eyes. When he did, he saw the knife, saw the hand holding the knife, recognized he fingers as his own, the grip tight and sure. He opened his eyes quickly and took several breaths, calming himself down.

The water seemed to be calling his name and Jasper did have to admit that the smell of salt and the cool breeze did seem like it'd be refreshing. He didn't have much else going on today besides checking in with Melissa and maybe a phone call with Howie.

Jasper climbed up on the railing separating beach from boardwalk and sat it on gingerly. A few more moments and he planned on jumping down and going for a swim.

Bellamy whipped around, expecting to see Finn behind him, ready with a lecture on being more careful but there was nothing. He was alone. Alone and in a completely different place. There weren't any trees surrounding him, no dirt beneath his boots. He still had his gun and he raised it defensively, not sure what the hell kind of trick this was.

Bellamy knew there were parts of Earth they hadn't yet explored but this was impossible. There were buildings in the distance, well kept and bright. They looked lived in. It was hotter here than it had been just a minute ago and Bellamy felt perspiration slide into his eyes.

A noise caught his attention and Bellamy turned, eyes settling on the ocean nearby. He'd heard about these on the Ark, even seen the massive blue masses from space but to be this close to one? Impossible. There was no way.

Where the hell was he?

Amy wasn't typically a maudlin person, though she had enough dramatic friends to understand the impulse. But Karma was feeling text-happy today and Amy wasn't really in the mood to deal with it, so she found herself wandering along the boardwalk in the hopes of clearing her mind.

After a while, her gaze landed upon a woman who seemed to be boasting to her friends about something or other. She wasn't dressed all that warmly - actually Amy hadn't seen shorts that short in a long time - and she strode confidently with perfect posture, gesturing wildly with her hands as she chatted with her friends.

Something about her was just interesting, and Amy mumbled to herself, "I wish I was that confident."

It was a trivial thing to want, but oddly, Amy didn't immediately regret thinking it. Hmm.

After the talent show, Travis and Kyle had made their way out to the beach and specifically the boardwalk. Travis had wanted to show his friend this place since it was one of those things they didn't have back in KC. Beaches were a lot different then their summers at lakes and rivers before he'd died. They'd mostly been chatting about inane topics and Travis knew they were deliberately keeping away from one specific topic.

Okay, Travis finally sighed... )

And, with that, Kyle stomped away. Travis didn't follow him. He just sat down on one of the nearby benches and tried to make it evident that he wasn't sulking too hard even if he was. He thought he'd made progress, moved past some things but he hadn't. He still felt alone and lost and completely unprepared for this world.

He'd woken up and sometimes he wondered what things would be like if he hadn't.

It seemed like a good day for Travis to make sure he could still skateboard. Before he'd died, his time on a skateboard had been absolutely nil. After, with Hatton's encouragement, he'd given it a try and found that he could actually skateboard and skateboard well. Hatton had called it muscle memory, something Jeremy Pratt's body remembered and Travis was willing to go with that even if it was creepy.

He'd woken up this morning wanting to get out of his room and out of the building and soak up some fresh air so he'd grabbed the battered board he'd picked up before leaving Kansas City and had taken it out. Most places in town were full of steps and he wasn't about to break his neck trying to be tricky around those. Not a chance.

Eventually, his feet took him to the boardwalk which provided a nice, flat surface, a great view, and good weather. Travis closed his eyes and smelled the salty sea air, let the breeze move through his hair before he opened his eyes and jumped on the board.

His body immediately remembered what was going on, what it was doing and soon enough he was skating slickly down the boardwalk, standing tall and assured. Travis didn't remember having this kind of balance before but hey, amazing what a new body could do for you, right?

Jim was done with classes for the week and was celebrating that by sitting lazily on a bench on the boardwalk while he ate a lunch he'd picked up from town. The warmer weather was definitely welcome and he knew it'd be even warmer when he went to Brazil next week to spend time with Natalie. That was definitely something to look forward to.

The weekend had left him thinking about a few things, a few things that he'd been trying to repress since Pike's visit so many months ago. The fact that he was now...considering his words was a big step but it made him slightly grouchy. Not too bad though and not anything he could solve by closing his eyes and enjoying the ocean breeze but still.

The good part about being so busy lately was that he hadn't heard that stupid voice any longer.

Theo didn't head back to his room after hanging out in the gym for the sports club. He was already keyed up and he'd brought his board to the club with him so taking it down to the boardwalk wasn't much trouble. Besides, this seemed to be the only place he could shake some of his tension and twitchy energy.

Ange and Dev were getting tired of skateboarding but they weren't arguing. They were fully aware something strange was going on and no amount of trying to get Theo to choose this or that was helping. They were stuck with the pollen just as much as Theo was.

He focused on the board and kicked off, glancing over at the setting sun and letting the sea breeze hit his hair and cool him down somewhat. His skin still felt hot but he felt a little better than he had when he'd been standing in the gym, watching people spar.

But, it was nice to know it wasn't just him reacting like he was. That meant he didn't have to go to a doctor and get himself checked out.

The rain was nothing new. Sam came from the land of rain so showing up on the island for some skateboarding on a familiar boardwalk was almost comforting. It was making his hair damp and his shirt stick to his skin. His board was new, though, and he wanted to break it in somewhere quiet. He had the half pipe, sure, but it wasn't the same as this place.

And he'd gotten to the island before sharks started falling out of the sky so it was still relatively peaceful. That wouldn't last and then Sam would most likely end up freaking out but he was calm right now.

The board was skating smooth though and Sam had both feet on said board, rain in his face and eyes and he actually felt kinda good with that. He skated through a small puddle which meant water ended up on his battered shoes and Sam even laughed.

The shoes had been through worse.

It was probably too hot to be doing this but Theo didn't care. He was pretty used to hot by this point and he'd just spend a day in the shower afterward to help himself cool down. And this time, unlike last time, he wasn't going to let Dev talk him into doing any stupid tricks. He wasn't going to break his face just to try and be impressive.

The sun was already beating down on him and there was perspiration sliding towards his eyes and making his hair damp but skateboarding felt good. Dev was loudly complaining about the heat and trying to urge Theo to find some air conditioning.

"Shut up," Theo grumbled, talking to the entity in his head. He knew he looked like he was just talking to thin air but he didn't think there was anyone else around. "You're in my head, it's not like the sun is getting to you that much."

Dev grumbled again and started to pout. Theo came to a skidding halt on his skateboard and swiped an arm across his brow. It was nice when Dev listened to him. It happened so rarely.

At some point during the brunch, Sam had decided he'd had enough and he'd left. He hadn't gone far, though. The shop he used to work out so long ago was still standing and, on a whim, he'd purchased a skateboard. The craftsmanship looked good and it felt good in his hands.

Board in hand, he'd come down to boardwalk and wondered if this was a good idea. Sure, there was still a half pipe in the yard but no one had used that for awhile. But, for some reason, Sam felt an urge to skate that he couldn't ignore.

Eyes closed, he let the setting sun warm his face before he dropped the board and hopped on. He was unsteady for a minute before everything came flooding back and he kicked a foot down and got himself going.

He'd missed this.

Theo had found the boardwalk. He'd been looking for a good place to skateboard since getting to the island and finally, finally, he'd found it. It wasn't the same as the boardwalk in Santa Monica that he tended to go to but it was close.

Theo brushed his hair back with his fingers and pulled his cap on, getting his unruly hair out of his face before he dropped the board on the ground. He kicked off and started skating, feeling almost like he was right back at home.

"Jump the rail," Dev said, trying to push Theo into doing something he probably shouldn't be doing. "It'll be impressive! Everybody will be impressed!"

"There's no one around for Theo to impress, Dev," Ange said, frowning. "It's just going to get him hurt."

"It will not," Dev argued. "Theo knows what he's doing, he's an expert at this! Did you see how effortlessly he got on the skateboard?"

Ange rubbed her forehead in a very long suffering way. "This is only going to end badly. Please don't do it, Theo. Remember what happened last time. It didn't end well that time either. People laughed. Theo, don't."

"DO IT, THEO!!!"

Guess what Theo chose to do? He built up a lot of speed and jumped the board in an attempt to grind against the rail....but he didn't quite make it. The jump wasn't high enough which meant Theo went gut first into the rail and tumbled over it with a muffled shout.

...so, he was just going to lay there on the ground having had the wind completely knocked out of him. He really needed to stop listening to Dev. And yet, he knew he'd never stop listening to Dev. Oh well.

But as she walked down the boardwalk, still clad in all black thanks to Jace, she couldn't help it. It felt nice to look like a stranger, go to places she usually wouldn't, and just generally put up an act that allowed her to do things like making people judge whether she was prettier than her dear little brother.

Sam hadn't gone back to Seattle last night. He'd felt lazy and a little tired after the party so he'd just checked into a hotel and stayed overnight to avoid taking the wrong portal or something and ending up in Siberia.

With his luck lately, that would happen.

Before heading back to Seattle though, Sam had decided to get some skateboarding in. He was going to end up blaming Kate because she'd made him miss skateboarding after several weeks of not doing it. The weather was chilly but Sam had a hoodie and a cap on to block against the wind and keep him warm.

"No, you can't! I've built my life here! I've changed!"

Natalie had had to excuse herself from Sam's presence to take this call, because it was private and possibly life-altering. So what better place to take it than out in the open in a public place! Of course, it was pretty vague, and the only thing that was obvious was that Natalie's dark and mysterious Montreal past was threatening to come back to haunt her. What that dark past actually was remained shrouded in mystery, of course. Possibly because the writers were just making this up as they went along. But it was horrible, all the same. Natalie had worked so hard to move on from her past. Both the one from before she'd ever set foot on Fandom, and whatever bad things she'd done as part of the Bavarian mafia on island! She'd even cut her hair short! And now it was all about to crumble.

She took a shuddering breath and pleaded one last time, "Please don't do this.

Despite the problems Sam had been having with his ghosts disrupting people (or person) lately, he wasn't in too bad a mood today. That might have been because he'd gone out skateboarding for a long, long time and was just now sitting down to take a breather. He was hot and sweaty but it had felt good to channel some of his discontent and guilt into exercise. He swiped his sweaty hair out of his eyes and stretched his legs out, using his skateboard as a foot stool for the moment.

He was spending as much time away from the tents as he could and therefore, spending as much time not sleeping as possible. It might be unhealthy but there was no way he was gonna risk scaring people he didn't know with random ghost visits. It was hard enough that he was bothering Natalie with it.

So, he wasn't sleeping and he was barely around the campsite which meant he was either off skateboarding, walking, or just...doing something that kept him away and didn't put his tentmates at risk.

It was stupid, he knew, because most people here were used to weird things but Sam was stupid at the best of times.

Sam hadn't had a good weekend in a long while. It felt like it'd been months when it really had been just a few weeks. He didn't know what he'd done wrong and who he'd wronged to get stuck with such miserable weekends but he had.

And he was tired. It wasn't so much from lack of sleep (which was something he had been experiencing) but from being through an emotional wringer every time he turned around. He'd been trying, he knew he had, and yet...

It was warm today which meant Sam had donned sunglasses and a hat to cover his face and prevent any sunburn. He'd taken to skateboarding up and down the boardwalk for long periods of time, hopping over little cracks in the sidewalk and twisting and turning in a poor attempt to look talented.

Right now, he was sitting on a bench with the board under his feet and his eyes on the ocean in the distance. It was almost calming.

While parents and guardians alike were up at the school, visiting teachers, Sam and Ramon had grabbed their boards (if there was one thing Ramon was gonna take with him, it was his skateboard) so they could hit the boardwalk with Frank jogging behind them, whining about dangerous activities and not being able to keep up. Ramon had made a quip about Frank's chicken legs which just had Frank pulling up to a walk and pouting.

It was good to have his friends around again. Frank was leaning against one of the rails on the boardwalk, yelling things at Sam and Ramon whenever they rode past him. It was either stuff about the estate, stuff about money, asking about the Council and even asking about Brooke. Each time, Sam didn't answer and Ramon threw some other ridiculous insult Frank's way. It was a routine that was relaxing Sam even if he knew that he was gonna have to tell his friends something about his time here and what he was planning to do once he got back to Seattle.

But, that wasn't at the forefront of his mind. He was just so freaking glad that Ramon wasn't so sick Sam had been sure he was dying and that Frank was there, being his annoying but alive self. Yeah, they'd lost Brooke but she was even still around in her own way. He hoped she'd pop up and make an appearance so Frank could even go home happy.

"Race?" Ramon suggested, looking over at Sam and then down towards the end of the boardwalk. "First one down and back wins...well, a prize to be determined."

"Ramon, you know i don't -- " Before he could finish, he'd taken off on his board, trying to cheat to get a head start. He could hear Ramon protesting behind him but he didn't slow down. Hey, races were important even if the prize could be lame!

Sam's ghosts were leaving him alone (literally) which meant he had a semi clear head and was in a semi decent mood when he and his skateboard hit the boardwalk. He hadn't done this in too long (the lack of road rash on his elbows could attest to that) and it felt good to have the wind in his hair and the sun on his face.

For some reason, he felt like he had to be active today. After his duplicates had been lazier than even he'd been at his the height of slackerdom, Sam felt like getting out and doing something would save him from that fate.

Hopefully it would save him from that fate, that is. After all, the M&M's that the teachers had given him had been really good and naps were really fun. But, he didn't want to think of himself getting like that. He wove his way down the boardwalk, getting lost in his own head and his own thoughts of things past and things future.

But, he wasn't too unfocused to trip over cracks or pebbles or run into rails or even off the boardwalk completely and into the sand. Anyone wanting a laugh wasn't going to find it in Sam today.

Just don't toss anything in front of his wheels. Then, he'd probably faceplant and that would hurt. And it'd be mean. Don't be mean.

Rapunzel was skipping along with a huge grin on her face. She'd spent a good chunk of the morning brushing out her hair (she was finding it took a lot more effort to take care of it all here in Fandom; maybe because she kept dragging it through areas that were dirtier than she'd thought).

But! It had totally been worth it this morning because her roommate was taking her shopping! Which apparently would get her more clothes to wear! It sounded positively magical!

So in one fell swoop, Rapunzel was going to have more than one dress to wear and learn something new!

It was enough to make a girl skip along, and spin in gleeful circles every so often.

Though, to be fair, Rapunzel was prone to doing both of those things on a fairly regular basis anyway.

Chuck just had the one final left, so yeah, he was celebrating the survival of another semester and an upcoming visit back to Encino to see Ellie a little prematurely... But what were the chances something could go wrong between now and tomorrow afternoon?

... Actually? Don't answer that. He was going to pretend it was nil.

His Mooby Meal wasn't exactly the height of gourmet, but Chuck didn't really have the cash or the taste for posh food, and a bench on the boardwalk wasn't the place for it either. That didn't stop him from being quite happy to sit there and eat and watch people. The simple things worked for him.

[[It's a public boardwalk, so open ofc!]]

More often than not, Sam found himself out of the cabins during the evening hours. He didn't mind the small space (his previous apartment had been pretty damn small) or the people in his cabins but he missed things like hitting the streets of Seattle with just his board and his thoughts and riding until his feet ached.

He didn't miss werewolf attacks and while he couldn't rule that out here (which he would have found weird a few months ago), he didn't think anyone was going to come after him on purpose. It made riding his board up and down the boardwalk easier. Riding here, unlike Seattle, meant he could smell the salty air and hear the nearby ocean. The ambiance was pretty damn sweet, he had to admit.

And that ambiance was helping distract Sam away from the fact that Brooke had appeared as soon as he'd started riding and was currently jogging next to him, taking advantage of her ghostly form since it meant she didn't get winded.

"I'm not gonna leave you alone until you tell me about the Council meeting," she kept saying, cutting back and forth in front of him so much that Sam actually worried about hitting and hurting her which was just dumb.

"Not now," he muttered, shaking his head. "I'm kinda busy, Brooke."

"Kinda busy?" Brooke repeated, getting in front of him and running backwards. "Hey, I didn't have a body for awhile and I still made time for you!"

Sam grimaced and said, "Low blow, Brooke. Low blow."

She kept poking and Sam kept avoiding. It was a familiar push and pull.

[post is open and brooke won't be visible to anyone unless they can see ghosts or they get close enough to sam and brooke happens to stick around. if you can't see brooke, feel free to see sam jabbering to the air.]

Bod hadn't wanted to stay in his room today. There wasn't anything wrong there, he loved his room, but he was feeling the need to be outside and breathing in the fresh air that was out there. It was crisp but not cold so the light jacket and cap (it wasn't winter, his hair would be fine) would do against any potential chill.

He'd found himself on the boardwalk after a stop for something warm to drink and something sweet to eat. The benches provided a comfortable, scenic spot to sit and enjoy the view of the beach in the distance. It was starting to cloud up and Bod thought they might see some rain but that wouldn't matter.

It was nice to feel at ease and calm. Last week, he'd felt anything but so he was glad to be able to sit and think. He made sure he didn't think of anything too intense or heavy just to keep this mellow feeling around him.

He'd probably be there awhile.

The pleasing sounds of a guitar played well wafted over the boardwalk and the beach. While the guitar case was open in front of him to catch money, Oz was mostly just playing because he felt like hanging out on the boardwalk and playing his guitar.

He took requests.

Gas mask, weapons, communications, fog-buddy (Roy, who was just around the corner, scouting, within shouting-over-phone distance as well as Shouting Distance)-- Dinah was ready to run into more herds of monkey-ponies and man-lizards.

She had a bet with herself about which one it would be first.

Since the roof seemed like Grand Central Station all day and Alex had no desire to sit inside one of the common rooms, he'd brought himself into town and onto the boardwalk. He didn't think he'd been here before which was fine because he needed some air and some new surroundings to occupy his mind.

Considering his current mood was still falling on the fucking awful scale, he didn't know how well that'd work but he could sure try. At least his shoulder felt somewhat better. And he could smoke and not get looks that said his lungs were going to turn into shriveled balls of black tar and he'd die. All in all, a good spot.

Alex took a seat on one of the benches, eventually just laying down and sprawling out on it, enjoying the cooler air and the darkening sky. It was almost relaxing for him. Almost.

Finding himself more bored than usual lately meant that Chuck had been doing what he neglected to do for the last couple months and exploring the newer sections in town. Being a sucker for, well, food in general but sweet stuff especially srsly. That's how Ed got fat in season two he was naturally drawn to the boardwalk. Come on, boardwalk food was the best. Especially the ice cream. Which would be how Chuck found himself on a bench with his feet propped up against the boardwalk fence, eating ice cream.

There were worse ways to spend an afternoon, that's for sure.

[He'll have been everywhere in town by the time my boredom lets up. Ooooooopen]

The alligator stopped it's charge as the glittering crystal sword appeared in Tim's hand. Clearly it hadn't been expecting something like that.

"Ha! Weren't expecting that were youaack!"

Quickly changing strategies, the mutant reptile opened it's mouth and a giant goldfish flew out of it right at Tim's face! More by instinct than by skill, he sliced the thing right out of the air, and dodged frantically to the side. Oh, there was a railing there.

"Oh shit!" He tumbled over the side and landed his back on the sand, the gator hurrying after him. The Dread and Puissant Champion of the Fae scrambled (read: crab walked) out of the way, losing his sword in the process.

One reptilian claw stepped firmly on the blade, blocking Tim's path to retrieve it. For a moment, they stared at each other, then the thing opened it's mouth once more. Just as more Goldfish were about to launch themselves from it's maw, Tim summoned the sword back to his hand and fired a blast of magical energy from the blade frying all the fish and the inside of the beasts jaws all at once.

Jaina was not only early, but she brought her lightsaber on a date. Not the most non-threatening accessories, but that bad feeling just kept getting worse, and she doubted John would mind. It was the same reason she'd wanted to have the date here, too. For some reason, she didn't want to be cooped up somewhere that she couldn't see everything around her.

That was the thing about hunches: you trusted them, you usually lived to hunch another day. Best to err on the side of caution sometimes.

The air echoed with the steady sound of small wheels thumping along the surface of the board walk. The sound paused as Robin executed a basic jump with his skate board, then resumed as he landed. As he approached a bench, he increased his speed. He managed to kick jump his board up onto the bench, ride along it, and then jumped off the other end.

"Wheeeee!!!"

After grabbing a bite to eat, Johnny and Savannah headed down the boardwalk, his arm drapped around her to keep her from getting chilled. It was cold, but anyone close to him would hardly feel the bite in the air, and he thought they could use an evening out together, just the two of them.

"Did you get enough to eat, babe? We could stop off for a hot chocolate if you want..."

There was only so long a man could be a recluse before he drove himself insane. When you were as restless as Jason was, that time became even shorter before he finally grabbed a light jacket and swept out of the apartment. He didn't know exactly where he was going but that didn't matter.

As he walked, he memorized the color of the gravel, the sidewalks, the buildings. He memorized street signs, shapes, sizes and distinctive details. He built the entirety of the island in his head and locked it down, saved it for later. It might be good for a quick escape.

There was likely one way off an island, like most small islands. If that was taken out, Jason would have to be creative. Or he would have to die and that was not an option.

His path found him on the boardwalk. The rail was cold beneath his hands.

Death.

He hadn't been on a boardwalk in years. At that time, there had been vendors, cotton candy and people. This time, it was quiet. Jason kept his eyes on some faraway point but was not distracted. He wasn't built that way.

Houston needed a walk. That was the main reason Murdock was out here. Not because he was thinking about other things.

It was just another date on the calender, it shouldn't mean much at all.

...yet somehow, it did.

Maybe he should call the guys?

Robin had spent the week hiding. The news had been rather scary and he wasn't ready to face all that yet.

But now the badguys were gone, and he was ready for celebration. His skateboard made a rhythmic sound as he rode it along the boardwalk.

Dōjima was looking pale but determined as she set-up the presentation space.  She'd been shooed out of the clinic at some point to 'go eat', and this seemed as good a way to repress as any.  If she was not allowed to go find and kill this Tybalt, she'd settle for channeling her rage into a more, ah, 'productive' manner.  Like making sure her classmates had access to useful information, and weren't being brainwashed.

Seating?  Check?  Props?  Check.  Goodie Bags for the end?  Triple check.  This was gonna be awesome.

Barney and Tink-sensei would be so proud.

Reno had to agree. Upon learning of an abstinence-only class, he had pretty much decided without question that someone had to teach the other side of the story.

The side of the story that didn't involve blue-balls until marriage. Some people just couldn't live that way, dammit.

He crossed his arms and sauntered over to stand by the side of his intrepid teaching buddy.

LJ-Cut for bananas in baggies, and their insane excuse for teaching... )

Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of judging watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

Depending on your perspective, Charlotte had either a really rough night at the bar, or a very productive one, considering the number of drinks she'd consumed. She, of course, was an optimist, so she was going to go with the latter. Just like she was going to tell herself that it was okay, people disappeared for over a week all the freaking time and Dale would be fine, even with giants...who didn't deal with giants? And he promised he'd be back and he wouldn't lie, would h--?

Charlotte's train of thought was interrupted as she stumbled a little, the heel of her shoe getting caught a little on the cracks between the boards of the boardwalk, and she regained her balance, blinking as she looked around. "Wait a minute," she muttered, narrowing her eyes at her surroundings. "This isn't the right way home...."
