Sam hadn't gone back to Seattle last night. He'd felt lazy and a little tired after the party so he'd just checked into a hotel and stayed overnight to avoid taking the wrong portal or something and ending up in Siberia.

With his luck lately, that would happen.

Before heading back to Seattle though, Sam had decided to get some skateboarding in. He was going to end up blaming Kate because she'd made him miss skateboarding after several weeks of not doing it. The weather was chilly but Sam had a hoodie and a cap on to block against the wind and keep him warm.

Once he got back on the board, he instantly felt better than he had in awhile. He breathed in and relaxed a little. He'd missed doing this.

The Perk, Tuesday afternoon

The great thing about traveling while being Bruce Wayne was that he didn't have to worry about portals or flights or anything like that. Since he had a private jet, Bruce was able to take his time today, check out the Cave and make sure everything there was in working order, and then get a cup of coffee and catch up on the news from Gotham while enjoying the start of a new year in Fandom.

Sure there was a time difference to worry about a little. Spending a few extra hours here meant he was gone for another day in Gotham, but his schooling was more a means to an end than anything else. And his grades were ensured by both his intelligence and the fact that nobody wants to fail a guy in a building that has his last name on it, like most of the buildings on the Gotham U campus did.

Seriously, if you could ever travel like Bruce Wayne, it was highly recommended, because it was great all around. And he might even look like he was enjoying it if he weren't prodding his newspaper with a red pen to try to connect a bunch of burglaries together from press clippings. He'd have to look into that when he got back.

But for now, coffee.

Kitty didn't start 2013 with a hangover or anything like that. She did, however, get to start it by working. Good thing she liked her job.

The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Evening

Max came into the bar today with a hangover and a glass of what his friend Jane called an ancient Serbian hangover remedy. It had taken all morning to prepare in his hungover state, and featured some ingredients that he didn't even know what they were called, and which Jane had literally sent over via express portal in a bag. After one sip of it from the giant Slurpee cup he'd brought with him, he pronounced it disgusting and lay his head down on the bar to mope for five minutes.

Five minutes later, he was in the best mood of his entire life, and with a dapper plastic top hat from last night on his head, Max fashioned a sign for the door.
