It was the last day of the reunion and Jessica figured she needed to take a moment alone. Get some solitude, a place to be with her thoughts for a little bit, in a quiet place. The beach would work. Have some white noise from the water, what could possibly be more relaxing.

When she got there, food was already on the grill, the volleyball net was set up, and a pig was sitting next to a spit, eating from a trough. There had to be a story there. And wait, who started grilling food on a beach only to leave it, and a pig? If this was Fandom magic, it was really weird Fandom magic.

Anyway, alone-time apparently wasn't happening. She could settle for some BBQ as long as she avoided anything that might have come from that pig's family.

The strange spell lifted as the sun came down, and left dozens of gremlins looking confused and bewildered all over the island. They skittered home quickly to tell tales of their terrible, no-good-day. Soon, a decision was made, and lo and behold, just an hour after sundown, signs started to appear everywhere reading SORY and WE MAKE IT UP TO U, pointing helpfully towards a clearing in the wooded area.

You wouldn't be able to miss it. For one, there was loud singing and drums that were audible from quite far away, and for two, there were very large torches sticking out everywhere, casting a glow across the woods.

There were many gremlins strewn across the clearing, and they all looked Very Apologetic. And if the gremlins themselves didn't look apologetic enough, well, there were also tables with enormous amounts of food. That was how Fandom worked, yes?

[[ wait for the ocd up! gremlins party hard! ]]

Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

Lana had gotten in pretty late last night so she and Ino had agree to meet up here today. She got here a little early, settled down at a table with a pastry and a cup of tea and a good book, and made herself comfortable while she waited.

[ooc: Lana's waiting for Ino, but is more than happy to chat with anyone else who might stop by. And, of course, the store's open for all your pastry and coffee needs.]

Peyton was distracted today, worrying about Meg. She knew it had to have been something bad for the Secret Service guys to come sweep her away and she just hoped everything would be okay.

All of which meant rather dark and emo music.

Ino hummed as she opened up the store, in a good mood (for reasons that might have involved what she'd gotten up to last night) as she watered plants and took care of the dusting and sweeping that needed to be done.

Stretching, she contemplated practicing her spear work, but with a shake of her head decided on meditation instead. Maybe later she’d work with the spear. Plopping herself down in Cable-san’s chair, Ino set to meditating.

Ino was rather thoughtful today, slumped in Cable-san’s chair with a notebook after opening and tidying the store. Nibbling on the cap of a pen she idly doodled in the margins of her medical notes and contemplated... stuff. Stuff about boys, and about her studies, and about her dad.

So yes. Stuff.

After (a) waking up on freaking Galactica Point with Ronan, and (b) showering for about an hour to get the sea smell out of her hair, Parker felt... almost human. Dick woke up on a park bench. He wasn't sure how he got here, but he did know one thing definitively... "It was all just a dream," he said. But he said it quietly so that nobody might hear it. In fact, at the moment it seemed as if his entire purpose was to be in the background if anyone with an actual speaking part wandered by.

He was an extra. And he was suddenly reading a newspaper in order to guarantee that there was no eye contact made with more important people.

Already, it had been a very odd day for Hermaphroditus Sparkles, and that was saying a lot, living the life he did. He knew it would be better come this evening, when he would go out and shine in his element, but, for now, there was drifting in the park, contemplating the letter in his hand that was addressed to his birth name, that lost little girl Calliope Stephanides.

Finally, though, a bit away from the duck pond, where the careless fowl went about their careless lives, he took a seat at the bench and pulled out the letter, which he'd already read countless times:

Honey mou... )

Reading through it again, Hermaphroditus still felt a catch in his throat; he let out a gasp of a sob and held the letter tightly to his tissue-enhanced breast. Oh, yia yia! But somehow...somehow...it was like he'd known all along.

Ino was fifteen today.

Well. Officially fifteen after spending months as unofficially so. Technically, if she included her time in the past, she was fifteen and seven months or so today.

Peculiarly enough, rather than a celebratory mood, it all had her in a rather thoughtful one instead as she curled up in the largest, most comfortable chair that the Perk had with a hot chocolate (with extra whipped cream today), and just watched the street.

A lot had happened in a year.

Ino was a bit conflicted mood-wise today. Really, she should be happy enough at the fact that Ichigo hadn’t managed to get his shirt back from her, and that she was still eating properly (and that it was starting to feel a bit less like a lead weight in her stomach every time she did).

But, at the same time, between the fact that she’d called Temari almost a week ago and still hadn’t gotten a response made her stomach want to do flips. And then Cable-san yesterday, and she knew he’d been lying through his teeth no matter he said.

Lana wouldn’t be by today.

In an effort to stay cheerful, Ino was spending extra time going over each and every plant in the store. As distractions went it was an alright one.

Ino had a Tether today. Well. Specifically a Tether-pup who was adorable and friendly and liked being petted. Not any other sorts of tethers.

She wasn’t entirely sure that throwing a ball around in the store was a good idea, but hey, most of the merchandise was in cases so it would probably work out alright. It had so far and that was a good sign.

And if it didn’t, well, Cable-san wouldn’t have to know seeing as he was gone again. At least he’d taken Deadpool-san with him, and oh so handwavily called her to take care of Tether until he got back.

Jaye was actually at work, and there early for once, which shocked the hell out of Tino. But see, she got to host tonight, and she was actually excited for it. She'd even brought popcorn to watch. Maybe someone could get slapped in three minutes and the slapper would end up in the pond. When people arrived, there was even a sign on the door.

Caritas Presents
THREE MINUTE DATES

Hosted by Jaye Tyler
Reject People! Speedily!

When everyone had gotten there, Jaye took the stage, mic in hand. "Hey there, so you should all know how this goes by now, as we've had way too many for you to be clueless. Unless you're new. In which case, ha ha, suckers. So, dating sucks, so we get you through the process really really quickly. Now you can find out within three minutes that the person you're talking to is not the one you want to spend even four minutes more with.

"Here's how it goes: I call your name, and someone else's. You get together. You talk for three minutes, get to know each other, and then you'll hear this," she said, pulling an airhorn from behind her back to sound it. "Then I'll call your name with someone else's and you switch. You'll hear this sound," she said, blowing the horn again just because she could, "five times total. Any ques- good. Enjoy!"

[Three minutes = ten comments, which means each person gets five comments in a thread. You don't have to do these chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself. Slowplay is totally fine omg.

Also wait for OCD becauase if you interrupt me I WILL come over there. Ready! Set! Go kill my inbox!]

Okay, so her experiment hadn’t precisely worked because she’d wound up in the preserve anyway when she’d tried to get here, and then the gym, and then her dorm room and it had turned out that going into her closet had wound her up here.

Fandom’s travel agents needed help or something, because that made utterly no sense.

Either way, she was there, and fretting a bit while staring dubiously outside. How sad would that be if the birthday girl couldn’t get here?

Oh. And Lucas, of course. She tried not to dwell on the part though. It wasn’t his fault that she wasn’t fond of him even though she’d talked to him all of... um.

...twice. Maybe?

Okay, whatever, it was totally partly his fault ‘cause she was just going with what Lana had told her.

Right. Totally not the point today though. Tonight was going to be fun, and yet quiet, and all about making sure Lana was happy. …if she arrived, considering Fandom. Ino had even gotten a cake though, so Lana had better show up. Or... or... Ino would eat the cake. Yes. That’d show her. It was a very nice cake, if you asked Ino. But what if she didn’t?

Ino went back to staring out the windows.

Ino spent a moment staring dubiously out at the… fog. It was, she decided, turning to go and grab the broom so she could sweep, a good thing that she hadn’t planned anything for Lana later that had to be outside.

Because outside looked like it was going to be hard to find. She wondered if by opening and shutting the door to Wellspring she could get back to the dorms without having to step outside…?

It might be possible this week. Hm. She settled back in the Cable-san’s chair and tugged out one of her notebooks. At the very least, she had a lot to think about.

Meditation was not supposed to be hard. And it wasn’t, not really. The act of settling down, breathing in a steady pattern, and going on like that was something Ino had a lot of experience in.

That wasn’t the hard part. Not the breathing, not the sitting down. The hard part was that no matter how long she did it, she couldn’t find her center. Still.

And that, that was the hard part. Swallowing on that, because that meant that no matter how happy felt… things were still unbalanced. Shaking her head furiously to clear it of those thoughts, Ino settled back in the chair and closed her eyes. Starting all over again. Well. She was tenacious.

Today, though, was looking to be an exercise in frustration.

Hopefully his actors would put in a good second performances and even more hopefully, they wouldn't completely lack an audience this time.  Second performance was occasionally a letdown, depending on certain factors, and the small size of the island was definitely one of those factors.

Ino was in a rather good mood all things considered. The bears yesterday she’d avoided by just staying inside and even though she knew that she totally would have to go and see the play that Cal and Amber were in she figured that her not going opening night was forgivable.

Maybe Hinata would like to go with her? Hmmm.

She puttered around the shop, humming under her breath, and murmuring nonsense to her plants.

Ino was… rather mutinous really when she showed up to work. She’d much rather be flying, but no, she couldn’t now.

Stupid work.

As she went about tidying up the store though her mood started to improve, and by the time she flipped the sign to Open, Ino was giggling.

What was with all the fruit everywhere? Seriously.

“I’m blaming Liir,” she told the drawer full of oranges. “Because, come on, honestly.”

Ino eyed the pi-rats at were outside Wellspring Arms dubiously as she went about getting the store ready to open. They looked back at her, singing, and that just made her eye them even more.

Yeah.

She… wasn’t surprised when they rushed in the moment she opened the shop.

“I’m not selling you guys anything,” she informed them. “And you’re not stealing anything either. Tough. Try it and I’ll kill you.”

Ino had a Mission. And, no, it wasn’t one she’d given herself. As such, once she’d opened the store (dusting, and cleaning, and fussing with her plants for a good while longer than the rest of it combined) she curled up with a notebook and started writing furiously.

And plotting. And considering the logistics of it all. Hmmm.

Ino was in a pretty chipper mood, honest. She had pictures of Worf-kitty developed now, and after making sure the store was neat and tidy (and fussing over her plants and promising them that if Worf tried smashing another one of them she’d kill him) Ino settled herself behind the desk with an empty photo album and began sorting through the pictures.

She’d keep them all, really. But some were way more adorable than others. And they totally served as an excellent distraction from thinking too hard about... stuff.

Yes, stuff.

Lana had slept. Finally. All night Sunday, most of the day Monday, and all night Tuesday. Yes, she'd had nightmares, but the pills had dulled them somewhat and kept her asleep despite them.

She was feeling a little groggy this morning, but definitely better over all.

Thus she was curled up in a chair with a cup of hot chocolate to ward off the Antarctic cold, happily awaiting any customers.

Anders's last shift, and he was feeling a little bit -- okay, a lot wibbly and sentimental about the whole thing as he came in tonight. He thought he'd even miss Tino's olive-throwing.

And then a hail of olives came flying at him, thereby proving that Tino had actually gone ahead and figured out how to construct an olive trebuchet . . . and he wasn't so sure about missing that bit any more.

At least he had the consolation of making Tino clean up the mess.

Ino came into Wellspring Arms with a camera and several ribbons in bright colours.

This could not end well.

It took her a good while, and earned her many scratches (more than a few deep enough to make her frown at Worf-kitty, but he only hissed and tried to scratch her again) but she eventually got a ribbon on him.

And it was adorable.

He’d disagree.

But Ino had pictures as proof. Today rocked.

Lana opened the store only slightly late.

She didn't look in such great shape. Between the drinking and not sleeping and being stupid and fretting over being stupid and not being able to get her mind off the nightmares... Yeah, she wasn't doing so hot.

She found it hard to settle in any one place, so she cleaned a little and read a little and wandered the store - lather, rinse, repeat...

Each person brought to the catacombs found themselves trapped in a cavern with seemingly no exit. It was cold and lighting was limited and even their own breathing would echo off the walls. The Nightmares were lurking, waiting for fresh minds to taste, to inhale the scent of fear and panic.

Tonight they would feast and the catacombs would fill with screams.

Pain, Panic and a few lesser demons had their orders. They had people to grab and take to the Nightmares in the catacombs of Tartarus. Simple enough, right?

Maybe not, but they hadn't had a direct order from Hades in an unthinkably long time. They weren't going to get this one wrong.

Ino was pretty bruised from her fight yesterday with Cassandra. Ino was also, quite frankly, ridiculously pleased with this state of affairs. Either way, she showed up early, as usual, at the store and in a fit of what some might call ‘apologetic’ spent a good while cleaning the place more thoroughly than normal.

When that was accomplished, and her plants all checked up on, Ino curled up behind the counter with her purple notebook and set away to scribbling in it. She had Kabuto’s scroll tucked into one of her pockets.

That had been yet another reasonably uneventful weekend. Cable had taken up counting them, just in case there was some kind of a pattern to the disturbances.

Right now, though, he had no concern for disturbances. He had a baby on one arm, and a piece of machinery in the other, attached to his metal arm by wire. The desk was covered in equal parts plush animals and electronics, and really, as far as working days went, this really could be worse.

Ino had... a sign. Well, she'd made it last week after thinking of ways she could word it so that Cable-san wouldn't be too irritated with her.

Stupid Worf.

Anyway. The sign, tacked to the outside of the front door where everyone could see it read:

Yes, the Meditation room is available.
Worf? This means you.

It wasn't subtle, but Ino didn't think it was that rude either. Good enough, really.

Ino ignored the part of her that mentioned how disappointed her mom would be if she could see this.

She was... there. Not at the desk though, but rather spent some time flitting around and taking care of her plants before retreating to the meditation room.

Settling down on the floor Ino closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. It wasn't working so well though, and after a solid forty minutes of trying, and failing, to find her center, she wandered back out to the desk and flopped in Cable-san's chair.

What did that mean? She'd always been able to find her center before.

Ino bit her lip, and worried about that.

Lana wasn't very interested in trying to sleep in the cabins. Too many people, too hard to keep waking herself up before the nightmares caught hold of her.

Instead she was out on her favorite rock at Selkie Cove, watching the stars and the new coastline. She had a blanket and a thermos of hot chocolate to keep her warm and the moon was almost bright enough to read by. Or in this case, to reflect brilliantly off the waves. It was enough and she was feeling happily content.

She made it to the shop, not quite as early as she usually did, but still earlier than she had to open it by, so Ino figured that that was good enough.

Rubbing at her eyes and resisting, for the moment, the pull of sleep Ino made sure to go over each and everyone of her plants carefully before dusting and sweeping.

That done, she gave into temptation, curled up in Cable-san's chair, and closed her eyes.

She was sound asleep in seconds.

It was such a nice day that Lana decided to take a blanket to the beach and get some sun. She'd thought about heading to Selkie Cove, but decided she felt more like sand than rocks today.

Too soon.

She knew it the moment she walked in the shop, first thing in the morning, that it was too soon for her to be here. I'm not done thinking yet.

But she had a job to do, and so, Ino was here. After a sleepless night of training.

Pacing restlessly through the shop, not daring to stop and sit because then she'd fall asleep and she didn't want to fall asleep here, Ino checked her plants, rearranged a few of them, and tried not to think about...

Well. Think about anything she'd been thinking about all night. It was hard going when the rhythm still danced in her head and her steps were still--deceptively--light.

Lana opened the bookstore and set out coffee, tea and pastries for the customers.

[personal profile] intraspective
Ino? Was not so pleased with the whole being there today. Even if she was becoming resigned to the fact that she, you know, was. And rather quietly glad that Cable-san hadn’t, you know, fired her like he’d seemed to imply he’d been thinking of last week.

Or something.

Either way, she got in early--way early--fussed with her plants and tried not to think about things she didn’t want Cable-san to really really know. Like, say, her gun. Or the fact that Deadpool-san was still a jerk, but maybe he had a point. Or the fact that Lana and her had wound up on a severely disturbing train of thought—on involving her, and Cable-san, and sex. Because that was just wrong.

...

The moment she thought that, Ino put her head down and quietly cracked up. Just no. No.

Wellspring Arms is Open.
[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com
Lana was pretty happy about the change in location. She hadn't had an opportunity yet to go exploring on Santorini, but she planned to do so soon. In the meantime she had the door to the shop open and was enjoying the sunshine and breeze.

Tea, coffee, and pastries were all set out for customers.
intraspective: (Default)
[personal profile] intraspective
It occurred to her that acting fine--just fine thanks--during the rest of the week was severely undermined by the fact that she insisted on working here. It made Wellspring Arms more than a wee bit awkward, really, and her mood was dark as she went around the store and fussed with the plants.

And, you know, tried not to think too hard. Stupid Cable. Stupid baby.

Whatever.

Lana had a lot to think about today and the quiet music playing in the store reflected her pensive mood. She set everything out for customers, then settled down with a cup of tea and a book.
