Ino had a Mission. And, no, it wasn’t one she’d given herself. As such, once she’d opened the store (dusting, and cleaning, and fussing with her plants for a good while longer than the rest of it combined) she curled up with a notebook and started writing furiously.

And plotting. And considering the logistics of it all. Hmmm.

Someone came in with ice cream in a bowl.

It was, in fact, her brother but he also came with ice cream.

"Ino?"

"Hiiii!" she chirped brightly, but not looking up from her notebook.

He pouted. Terribly.

"I bring you ice cream, made from scratch, and not even a smile."

He sounded terribly put out.

"Will I need ribbons and bells to get your attention?"

Ino blinked. Then glanced up.

"Ice cream?"

A beat.

"Ribbons and bells are always a good thing too." Said the rolls of film she still needed to get developed.

He put the bowl in front of her.

"I put chocolate in this batch just for you," he said as he leaned on the counter.

"What're you up to, hmm?"

He'd probably be rather surprised when she reached across the counter to hug him, careful not to hit the ice cream. "Best brother ever."

"Plotting," she said impishly. "And planning. And it's for a mission."

Not surprised at all. More surprised at what she said. Surprised and pleased.

"I try." And she was hugged back.

He nodded to the paper.

"Mission? Is this something I should make sure I have no knowledge of so that when they question me, I can honestly say I don't have the faintest idea?"

Ino sat neatly on the counter so she wouldn't really have to move away from him and beamed.

"Nope!" she told him. "Because it's a good mission. Even Cable-san would approve of it."

"Aha. Then may I ask what sort of mission it is, other than good?"

"Finding a way to get food to people who need it in Reno's world," she said, leaning against him and reaching for her ice cream. "They're having transportation issues and can't carry much with them in one trip so people are... yeah, in bad shape."

A firm little nod. "I'm going to fix it."

Ino was so desperately glad for something to focus her energy on. She'd needed a mission. Badly.

He leaned over to look.

"What have you got so far?"

Lana stopped by to see Ino, looking fairly relaxed and happy.

"You," Ino waved her pen at Lana, with a brief glance up from her notebook before going back to it. "And just what do you have to say for yourself?"

"Excuse me?" Lana said curiously.

"Evil," Ino said, with a twirl of her pen. "Totally evil."

"What did I do?" Lana asked, completely confused.

Ino raised her eyebrows. "Lucas? Bar? Waking up with him?"

The radio was her friend, really.

"Ten on my list and established hanging out and having sex relationship? And I didn't go to the bar to drink, he called and asked me to join him," she explained. "And he's never asked me to go anywhere with him, so I didn't think I should bring someone else with me. And since I would have gone home with him even if I had gone and got drunk and..."

.....

"Yeah, I was so excited I totally forgot to call you."

"Evil," Ino said again. This time mildly amused though.

"I only had like two and a half drinks," she protested. "And he had stuff he needed to tell me. And he drank... a lot. God, I was worried about him."

"I'm sure you were," Ino said mildly. "This does not mean I'm not allowed to worry 'bout you when I've just got radio to go on."
