Turtle & Canary -- Thursday

Maron stifled a yawn, rubbing at her eyes.

So tired. Hopefully the coffee she’d picked up from the Perk would kick in soon.

Yes, Maron had bought coffee for herself. Maron was probably the last person (with the exceptions of, in her opinion, quite possibly, Zack) who needed coffee. Oh well.

Just... give it time to kick in.

Turtle was making a point to get some social business taken care of, so of course she was swinging by the store today, too. "Morning, Maron! How's things?"

"Good morning, Turtle!" Maron chirped, the coffee having hit her system a while ago. "It's been pretty fine, nothing crazy, but the sales are steady and it's lovely out!"

But sales are steady. Turtle grinned, glad to see that Maron knew to include the important parts. "Good to hear!" she said. "Quick question for you, though. With the new semester coming up, I wanted to just check in and make sure that Thursdays are still good for you, or if you want to switch at all based on your schedule, before I try hiring in anyone new."

Turtle realized she probably could have asked Maron that at any time, considering they shared a room, but it was so much more professional doing it at work.

"I think I am," Maron said, tilting her head as she considered it. "I've signed up for a class on Monday, and one on Wednesday, but I don't know if I got into them both so they might have me pick another. Right now I think Thursday's are good unless you needed me to pick another day?"

"Nope!" Turtle said. "Thursdays are good! I just wanted to make sure. Which classes did you sign up for?"

Maron laughed. "Survival for Non-Powereds, and Art Appreciation and Protection. It's a bit of a leap between the two of them, but they appealed to me the most! Which ones did you sign up for?"

"I signed up for the survival one, too," Turtle said with a smile. "So we might have that together! Also, Mythbusting and Practical Weaponry. Useful classes, but different from the useful classes I took last time."

"Is Mythbusting really likely to be useful?" Maron asked curiously. "I mean, I suppose that being here it might be."

Certainly, Survival for Non-Powereds was only super useful here.

"Well," Turtle said, thoughtfully, "it might be. I mean, if anything, even though I plan on going into business law, it'll give a perspective on cracking down on weird things that might sometimes show up in a courtroom. A stretch, but, hey, I'm allowed something mostly fun. Survival and weaponry, though, those are super important."

Maron had to smile at that. "Are you any good with weapons?" she asked, resting her chin in her hand. "Did you say? I can't remember."

"I'm a decent shot with a gun," Turtle said, "but that's about it. All the more reason to take it; a gun's not always going to be on hand, and I've encountered way too many things with shins to rely on kicking."

Maron made a face at her, and laughed. "You'll have to defend me should there's anything that tries attacking our room!"

Not really, no. Maron wasn't useless--not that she was telling.

"I'll do the offensive," Turtle said with a nod. "You can do some crazy gymnast flips or something to keep up the defensive."

Maron laughed. "That much I can do," she assured her. "I can even throw things."

With Apu, who is looking horrified at her coffee consumption.

Too bad I don't like coffee! I could use some right now!
