MHA - 5/17 - Mid Afternoon

With Sunday being her only day off, Haley wanted to make sure she spent her time wisely. So, she decided to sleep late, waking up to begin with a three hour workout. She ran for an hour and a half before coming back to the apartment building and grabbing her iPod player to stretch and practice her flips on the grass.

She did a full routine's worth of round off bandspring backtucks, cartwheels, rolls, and walkovers. Once or twice, she fell on her ass, but for the majority of moves, she stuck her landings. It made her feel good; it made her feel right on track despite having to be her own coach.

As she finished, she just laid back on the grass for a moment. With Iron Maiden loudly coming over her iPod boombox thing, the sun began to beam down directly on her and she started to consider a jump into the pool.

Vince had watched Haley for a little bit, from his apartment window. And then, well, he felt like he had to go out there and have some of that fun himself.

He went out to where Haley was and waved at her, not trying to shout over the music.

Haley sat up a bit more as the man approached, turning down the music. "Music too loud?" She asked with a partially confused and partially curious expression on her face.

"Oh, no," Vince said. "I like a bit of Maiden. Not my normal thing, but it's real genius. You're really spry, by the way."

"Well, I...don't like just laying around unless I'm sick, and my day isn't complete without a little bit of training. Even when I fall on my ass and hurt myself, I keep going." Haley said with a smirk and a shrug.

"What floor you on?" Because he obviously lived there.

"Three!" Vince said. "It's a great floor. I love this place."

"I've only been on the fourth floor a couple days, but the building is quickly growing on me." Haley agreed. "Have you been here long?" She asked, still curious and inquisitive.

"Oh, just over a week," Vince said. "But it's been mega, mega excellent. Almost as great as the time Gary Numan flew me and my best mate to the arctic tundra to find a giant ruby."

"Gary Numan?" That sounded familiar for some strange reason. "Wait, do you mean the 'Cars' guy? The 'Cars' guy flew you to find a ruby?"

"Yeah, he's a pop star and has a pilot's license," Vince said. "That's great, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it actually is pretty cool, but how do you know him? Are you related or something?" Haley asked as she sat up more and wrapped her arms around her legs comfortably.

"Oh, no," Vince said. "I was president of his fan club for a bit. Then we just became really good friends. We keep him around the shop I used to work at, when he's not touring."

"I love classic rock, but I sort of have a big hidden crush on 80's pop too. And 'Cars' is definitely one of the finest of 80's pop." Haley admitted.

"Excellent," Vince said. "Me, I take Gary's collected works on every road trip. Really helps the time fly by."

"On the road, I usually stick to Zeppelin and the Stones. Occasionally, I'll add a little Iggy Pop to the mix too though." Iggy kept her up when she was stuck driving late.

"Iggy!" Vince said. "He's brill. You've got really great taste in music."

"Thanks." A beat. "You know, you're not the first person to say that. Gives me hope for the future that so many people are into the 'old' stuff. I like Iggy because he keeps me up. Every single word out of his mouth hits me even if I'm sleep deprived and hurting."

"Are you sleep deprived and hurting a lot?" Vince said. "Because that doesn't sound healthy."

"Well, I'm always hurting in one way or another; that's just gymnastics. I'm only really sleep deprived if I'm driving though. In fact, I think I probably sleep too much normally."

"No such thing," Vince said. "Sleep is nice. I like sleep. Sleep, bright colors, and soft fabrics."

Haley laughed a bit before responding. "The comfyness of Egyptian cotton is insane if we're talking soft fabrics. And as far as bright colors go, I'm not afraid to wear them and I don't believe in black and white tags." And by this point, she had tagged most of the walls in her apartment.

"Brilliant," Vince said. "You know, I don't think I've told you my name, yet. I'm Vince. Vince Noir."

"Haley Graham. Nice to meet to meet you, Vince." Haley extended a hand. "You know, you're the first of my neighbors that I've met. I met Loki, but that's different 'cause he's the landlord." Even if he did seem pretty chill.

Vince shook her hand with a grin. "You're the second I've met. If all my neighbors are beautiful women, I might have found the best flat complex ever."

"Thanks?" Haley said with a raised brow.

"That was a compliment," Vince said. "Unless you don't like being called beautiful?"

It was possible she was mad.

"Oh, no, I appreciate it; I'm just not used to it. I'm usually either considered one of the guys or I get really bad pickup lines thrown at me. I've never had anyone just plainly call me beautiful." A beat. "Thanks."

"Hey, I'm gorgeous," Vince said. "So I know beauty when I see it. No sense in not saying anything. I mean, look at me. I have to admire beauty, or I'd hate myself."

"True. Very true." Haley said with a smile, trying not to laugh because she was fairly certain that he was serious. It wasn't that he was unattractive, because he wasn't. It was just the way he said it all.
