Combat Training For Adults - Atlas Gym [Thursday evening]

Max had arrived (gasp!) early to make sure that everything was ready. Since he wasn't planning anything too strenuous for the first meeting, he didn't really have much to prepare for. Now he just had to hope that some people actually showed up. Because it'd be pretty dang embarrassing if they didn't.

As the first people trickled in assuming they did Max just let them mingle. Nothing too formal. He wanted everyone to be comfortable.

Once he felt enough people had arrived (and that there wouldn't be too many more coming), he figured it was time to get started.

"Hey. Glad all of you could make it. Most of us have been on the island long enough to know that things go bad every so often. Not everyone has the training to defend themselves if that happens, and even those that do can generally use some practice and a chance to improve. That's what we're here for."

"For those of you worried about my qualifications," aside from the fact that Max was huge, "back home I'm combat instructor with the military." No need to get into too many details there. "I'll try not to yell too much since you're all here on your own time, but if I slip, hopefully you'll forgive me."

"I know that some of you are new to this while some of you have a lot of experience fighting. Help each other out. You don't have to have me for every little thing."

"And with all that out of the way. Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Antillar Maximus. Max. I'm a combat veteran. Served in multiple campaigns with the legions. Most of my experience is with swords," and bar fights, "but I'm proficient with most hand-to-hand weapons." No guns though. He should remedy that at some point.

So Ash was trying to get out more. Plus this was going on at her job. So even though she didn't really need any instruction, she decided to stop by and see what was going on.

Max looked Ashley up and down consideringly. To his credit, and because of the nature of the class, it was only half appreciative of her figure. The other half was a careful examination of the way she stood, her build, and what those said about her fighting abilities.

Summer was all for getting out more, so she decided to show up and check things out. Plus, she wanted to learn more about defending herself.

Cindy...wasn't sure if this was a great idea or not. For her cover? Probably no. For her raging sense of boredom and possible wall against insanity? Definitely.

So she was going with a firm 'maybe.'

Angua wasn't actually here to take the class. Angua was very satisfied in her own level of combat training and had no desire to embark in any more fighting than necessary, lest she get a little excited and do something silly like ripping out someone's jugular with her teeth.

Oh, no. She was just here for the entertainment. There was destined to be at least some here.

Dimitri had agreed to stop in, seeing as he would need to close up the gym after anyway. It was an interesting assemblage so far and he wondered just how many of them needed real training.

He had his phone set to vibrate should there be a vampire in need of his services, but with luck, Dimitri would be able to hang around for a while and see how this went.

Mary was dressed fairly casually tonight. She wasn't really sure about the idea of learning how to fight, but considering some of the things she'd dealt with in Fandom and Las Vegas, Mary realized that it couldn't hurt.

Captain Price had shown up, but mainly just to see what was going on. He... was in uniform, again because it was more comfortable than casual clothes.

"Ashley Magnus," she said. "I started fight training pretty much as soon as I could walk. I was a professional monster hunter at home. So I have a lot of fighting experience."

She also had this nifty ability to heal now which kind of came in handy.

"I'm Summer Pitt," she began. "I can handle my way around a firearm and I have a bit of self defense training but I'd like to learn more."

In case she ever got kidnapped again.

"Cindy Perrault," Cindy answered. "I've taken some self-defense courses and I can shoot if I have to."

...Which were both true, in the loosest sense.

"Captain Johns Price. Military trained, twenty seven years of experience. Hand-to-hand isn't my specialty. I prefer to put a bullet in the brain before it comes to that," Price said. He wasn't smiling, it wasn't a joke.

"I'm Tim Desmond." And I feel like I'm in some kinda group therapy with the introductions. "I'm from New York, the mid 90's version. And uh, I've got I guess just past beginner's training/experience with a sword."

Sparring

Max wants to see everyone in action. You can spar with a partner, or ping in here and wait for him to swing by for a little one-on-one time.

Max planned to get at least a little sparring time with everyone who showed up. Just to see where they were so far. In his experience people tended to be pretty bad at judging their own skills, after all.

Cindy looked around for a partner. She didn't want to spar with Max immediately--not until she'd reminded her body just how not-good she was supposed to be at all of this.
