Today Jane was back at carefully cleaning her handguns; she was going to need to take these ladies out some day, surely. With all inventoried and squeaky clean, visiting the shooting range -because there was one of those, right?- was a must to relieve her from the boredom. Or, you know, more colorful customers. Those were always interesting.

The guns are unleaded, by the way.

Cally might not describe herself as colourful, but she certainly qualified as interested. Her primary reason for the trip into town was putting up more posters, but she'd been scanning the shop-windows for just such a sign as she walked. If she didn't find the dog's owner, she was going to have to feed it something besides leftovers nabbed from the common room refrigerator. Also the small matter of having three pairs of trousers to her name at the moment.

"Hello?" she called, pushing the door open. Noting the guns on the counter, she was doubly glad she had chosen not to startle anyone by doing so telepathically instead of aloud.

Jane's world was one with regular people, living regular life, if you didn't count the highly trained assassin organizations, of course. While she had been in Fandom, Jane had seen already to take lightly the fact someone was talking in her head, really. And the guns were unloaded. Still, it was probably for the best Cally hadn't poked Jane's mind.

"Yes?", asked as she looked up, shiny smile on as if she were doing totally different than polishing her guns. "Can I help you with something?"

"I hope so. I came in about the sign in your window; you're looking for employees?"

It would be a lie not to say that Jane's eyes gleamed as her smile widened. "Indeed I am; my two employees have left the island, so I am the only one working here at the moment." She didn't even stop to ask her is she knew of art of anything; there would be a moment to do that...after she had her hooked.

"Is there any day you would prefer?"

"Thursday is the day when I have no classes," Cally answered, taking more of a look around the shop now. "Would that suit you?"

"Thursdays are perfect. Actually, any day would be perfect, but if Thursdays suit you, then even better." She first watched her look around. "So, do you have any interest on art? It's not a requirement, and I certain didn't have much of one when I took charge, but I think I have managed to learn one of two things."

"I sketch a bit." Especially when she was supposed to be taking notes in Auronar Civics, version 2.0. "Mostly landscapes. I wouldn't call myself an artist, but I find it entertaining. My name is Cally, by the way."

That she was - even if still trying to wrap her mind around it - a student at the school, she felt had been covered already, but she added, "I'm new to the island -- and the planet, I suppose I should tell you up front.

"I'm a sketcher, too. Not terribly good, though." Katchoo had the been the more artistic one. "I'm Jane, Jane Smith. I'm not particularly good myself, so I would say you are pretty safe."

That took her by surprise, actually, but Jane got over it pretty soon. "I see. Well, I suppose it was better to know right away." Which didn't mean she was about to tell Cally the guns weren't just for show, of course.

"I'm unfamiliar with the currency." Which was the only reason she'd brought up just how out of place she was, in this case. "But I understand it's decimal-based, so it shouldn't be difficult to figure out."

"It's not that hard; next time I come around I'll give you a hand." She was good with numbers, anyway.

Because omg, guns.

Today is the day when I get to know what I'll be doing for the next 3-4 years of my life, among other things.

I am not nervous.
