The Second Annual Fandom Music Festival, The Park, Friday afternoon

There was a stage set up in the park by the duck pond. A bit farther away were merchandise and food booths. The food was free and the merchandise was overpriced, but the music cost nothing.

As the signs proclaimed, it was the Second Annual Fandom Music Festival.

Drax stepped up onto the stage and poked at the microphone. He hated this part of the job. "Welcome to the Music Festival. Enjoy the music and behave yourselves. We're not on school property so I can injure you if I deem it necessary." That wasn't true, but he felt it was a worthwhile thing to say to keep people in line. "Welcome our guests and enjoy yourselves."

[OOC: Artists, feel free to interact backstage and if you'd really like to wander out, hit up the audience. You should post links or lyrics for a song or two or three in your thread. Audience, feel free to participate in the various audience type threads or react to performances as a reply to the artist when they ping in.

Some of these artists will be around town this weekend in other locations. Hopefully I'll get a flyer up for that Friday night.

That should be it. If I missed anything, it's because I'm tired. Hey, I missed something because I was careless, not tired! One more pair of artists was added to the program because I missed them while I was organizing things. All's well that ends well!]

Backstage, Mr. White was prepping the guys for the show. Lenny, of course, wasn't paying any attention. There were were some pretty hot ladies back here.

"...you guys look great in black, have I told you that?" Mr. White said to them.

Lenny, Jimmy, Shades and the bass player would love to talk to anyone who came up to them.

Jimmy, Shades, Lenny and the bass player ran onto the stage. Lenny got to the microphone first. You might be able to hear their manager groaning from backstage.

"Hello Fandom! We're The Wonders, not to be confused with Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters." said Lenny. You could hear someone hissing "LENNY!" from backstage. "And much to the disappointment of that that crazy looking green dude we are indeed performing our hit song, 'That Thing You Do (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzllVlzzeuo)'! 1, 2, 3, hit it!"

A large mural of nine women appeared on the stage. A purple glow surrounded one of the women, and she suddenly stepped from the painting, dancing in joy. The others followed, including a pretty young blonde in a white dress. And rollerskates.

Poor Michael Bolton had no idea what he was doing. Kind of awkwardly, he walked up to the microphone and said, "Um. You've got the wrong guy. I'm not him."

Of course, once he'd said that, it meant he was standing onstage even more awkwardly. After a very, very long moment of this, he walked offstage, started rummaging through the briefcase he'd left back there, and put a CD in the conveniently placed player before taking his place onstage.

What came across the speakers was what could only be described as hardcore gangsta rap, and it's a good thing he hadn't been soundchecked first, as that feedback came in handy.

That was of course when Fosse the troll picked him up by the back of his short-sleeved button-down shirt and started carrying him offstage.

"You can't do this!" cried Michael as he was escorted out. "I was performing!"

The lead singer, Trent, grabbed the microphone with one hand and in a gravelly voice announced, "We're Mystik Spiral."

A pink ball of energy jumped up on stage and grabbed the microphone, the ears of his bunny costume bouncing as he spoke in a slightly Japanese-accented voice. "Hi, I'm Ryuichi Sakuma! This is so exciting and thank you for having me here to sing!"

Suddenly he ripped off the bunny suit, leaving him in a slightly less ridiculous outfit and still holding the microphone. "Now I'll be singing for you!"

Ryuichi paused a moment, closing his eyes as he focused--

When he opened them again, it was like a whole other person, smirking faintly as he launched into his song.
