Fandom Pride Parade, Sunday Noon (6/25)

Actual, literal rainbow? Still in the sky, check.

Weather, still surprisingly cooperative? Also check.

Like last year, the parade was starting up near the lighthouse and passing all the businesses on that end of the island before making its way across, past Serenity Cove and the Arms Hotel. In a slight change from last year's route, it would then take a left up Griffin Way, a right onto Black Swan Drive, then down Minotaur Lane and onto Apocalypse Avenue to loop around the park and pass Galactica Point before doubling back to the park by way of Sphinx Street and Mallard Way.

The parade even seemed to have a grand marshal's float of sorts this year: Little Bot the souped-up Roomba from the Magpie Emporium, all painted in Pride flag colors with a shoebox full of the store's resident gamer gremlins on his back, each of them waving various flags. The glittery varieties, even. (Should anyone have concerns about the gremlins biting anyone, Little Bot was carrying a dented Cypher System core rulebook in two of his servo claws just in case they got ideas, but none of them seemed remotely interested in getting off of their float anyway.)

A low-key picnic was set up in the park at the end of it all -- nothing like yesterday's festival, though the decorations over the picnic tables remained -- with some rainbow pastries courtesy of JGoB, beverages, and fruit skewers. Yes, also in rainbow colors thanks to a variety of different fruits.

You know, just so everybody had a little recovery treat after all that hiking.

The Magpie Emporium's restroom and game lounge are available for any last-minute needs. Parade needs, that is. Not gaming ones. That can wait until after the parade, thank you.

Vi was doing the last few touch ups on Little Bot's paint scheme and making sure his shoebox wasn't going to fall off mid-parade.

The only problem with the start point and prep space being the Emporium was that when Triumph was here, he usually got all sorts of treats and time playing games, so Graham was really struggling to keep his still-rainbow-oscillating mighty steed focused on the task at hand.

He’d worked the Seattle parade a number of times, yes.

Because the number of people she'd heard of passing out over the years she'd gone to Portland and Seattle Pride...

Connor was heading out on his vacation in the morning and he still needed to pack and get Rex settled in over at Cutter's flat. But there was still time... time enough to join the parade for a bit. And besides, Rex had so much fun yesterday showing off his cute rainbow bowtie that Connor couldn't resist bringing him out again for one last fun activity before he went away.

That suit jacket was fabulous enough that Duke had even managed to drag himself into public to join him.

In his own eye-searing fantastic purple, pink, and blue plaid.

For those of you who decide to take part in the parade -- and Steph's made it clear that with all these stairs, no one should feel obligated to stick out the whole parade route if they don't think they're up for it. She's even roped a few of the rickshaws in if anyone wants to take a (yes, thematically decorated) ride along the route instead of walking.

Graham was absolutely delighted to find out that Charlie's charm that made Triumph's fur change colors throughout the rainbow was still going strong on Sunday, meaning they were looking extra celebratory as he and his mighty steed rode along on the parade route, giving waves and smiles and tossing little bags of jelly beans into the spectators for them to enjoy.

March? Pffft. Travis had decked out the tiny Fandom aid car in progress flags and was driving that. And handing out water bottles. And sun screen.

And was also available for rides as needed.

He was there and wearing a new shirt and still had on the rainbow gloves he had been wearing the day before. Connor wasn't sure if he would make it the entire route but he was there for however long his legs lasted. Rexy however would have no problem making it as he was spending most of the time soaring around overhead or riding on Connor's shoulder chirping happily at everyone gathered to watch the parade procession.

Well, of course Steph was here, draped in a huge lesbian flag and wearing a Protect Trans Kids shirt. She was up front with Little Bot and the gremlins, yelling things like "We're here, we're queer, and we're not fucking going anywhere!"

Along the Route

There are rainbow streamers lining the route, and ice buckets of bottled water available for both spectators and parade participants. Hang out and watch, or join in mid-route if the mood strikes you!

Stark had found a spot, somewhere with a little shade if necessary, to sit. He was not wearing yesterday's rainbow shirt, having given it over to Summer partway through the day. Today he had on the white and blue shirt he'd bought in Indonesia. It still had all its buttons.

He'd enjoyed watching the parade last year. He'd enjoyed yesterday very much. He was hoping to enjoy today as well.

"Hey, dude," she said as she futilely tried to brush a few bits of rainbow glitter off her nose.

Steven and Llewellyn had arrived together, and Steven was keeping a close eye on his beau in case the parade proved too much for him as it had last year. But when possible he would cheer for his friends in the parade and he took loads of photos of everything.

The festival yesterday had been fun, but it had been fun last year as well, while the parade had ended up- somewhat more difficult. But Watts was doing his best not to dwell on that too much, and just try and enjoy himself.
