Parents Weekend Brunch - Sunday morning in the park

Harvey didn't have too much trouble arranging the brunch in the park. Between the help of the rest of the StuCo members and oddly enough, Marshall (apparently he had a thing for brunch), Harvey hardly had to do a thing. And isn't that what being president is really about?

There was a harvest theme in the tent, with the tablecloths and napkins all in reds, yellows and oranges. Marshall even hand-made the autumn-themed centerpieces on the tables. There was also, of course, every kind of brunch food imaginable set up at the buffet table. There was probably even foods there that didn't even qualify as brunch. Harvey had a hankering for pizza earlier.

A sign was posted outside the tent:

After his early visit to Karal and the beach, Ender had made his way to the brunch area ahead of time to lend a hand. By now, he was hanging back peacefully, observing the crowd and their mannerisms while he dwelled in his own mind.

Oh, if there was food, Jack was there. But first, of course, was social-ness-ability. Which meant meeting people.

Willy Singer and Tully Mars were both there. This weekend was actually the most social Tully had been since he'd gotten here. He and Willy were experiencing the full brunt of the island together.

Lily had had a fairly quiet day on the island the day before, catching up with her son; today, though, she felt she should make an effort to get out and about, and see some more of the island and its inhabitants.

Marie had helped herself to a plate of food from the buffet and was now humming cheerfully as she wandered about, checking out the crowd.

If any of the more . . . unconventional-looking presence had been in her field of view at any point, she hadn't noticed. She was good at that.

The President wanted a chance to meet Meg's friends, so she was out at the brunch. Her agents stood behind her, keeping a close eye on the crowds.

Gonzo had made a beeline for the food tables. He had been going for some waffles, when he spotted a horrible travesty. Chicken legs!

Who knew where he'd found the supplies to make a small picket sign, but he was there, standing in front of the table where the chicken legs were, with a sign that read, Say No To Chicken!. It even had a crude drawing of a chicken (or something that was supposed to look like it) and a big red, slashed circle.

An artist, Gonzo was not.

For all that she avoided most of this sort of thing, Mac did make her way down for the buffet and picked at some of the food. That was definitely worth making the most of.

Phyla wasn't about to bypass a hearty meal; it wasn't in her make up. So she sat at one of the tables, scoffing in quantities of food while a part of her kept carefully aware of everything that was going on.

Somehow, the first plate of Jack's food ...dissapeared. He was working on the second one now, as soon as he could make another beeline to the hashbrowns.

Lion-o was done with pouting over his dad not coming and was trying to enjoy what was left of the weekend. Brunch helped.

Derian didn't feel bad about leaving Firekeeper at work while he went and had brunch, because he was well aware of her opinion of crowds: namely if there wasn't music and dancing, she didn't want to be there. Food, however, was definitely worth it for him, so here he was, piling all sorts of strange foods to sample on his plate.

Liz was amazed by the spread of food, and was taking a little bit of everything as she looked around to make sure Jess hadn't deserted her.

Oh, pancakes. Definitely a weakness there. Butter and syrup? Red hoped that they had a cook working just on pancakes back there somewhere because he's taking all that are done at the moment (except for three, because he's not greedy like that).

Also I was determined to have ugly centerpieces, hence Marshall's appearance. Harvey would just make beautiful centerpieces because I bet he's all Mr. Arts and Crafts and all "Oh, look at me, I made a perfect replica of the White House with popsicle sticks!" and then I'd sit and be all upset because I could only make replicas of Stick Stickly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stick_Stickly) and accidentally glue my fingers together....

*coughs* Anyway. Have fun brunching it up.
