Parents Weekend Brunch - Sunday morning in the park

Harvey didn't have too much trouble arranging the brunch in the park. Between the help of the rest of the StuCo members and oddly enough, Marshall (apparently he had a thing for brunch), Harvey hardly had to do a thing. And isn't that what being president is really about?

There was a harvest theme in the tent, with the tablecloths and napkins all in reds, yellows and oranges. Marshall even hand-made the autumn-themed centerpieces on the tables. There was also, of course, every kind of brunch food imaginable set up at the buffet table. There was probably even foods there that didn't even qualify as brunch. Harvey had a hankering for pizza earlier.

A sign was posted outside the tent:

"She'll figure it out," Inoichi said, pleased. "She's just impatient."

"Really?" Ichigo asked, pretending to be surprised. "I hadn't noticed. She always seems so patient."

He snorted.

"I've been lied to by those better at it than you, boy."

"I wasn't trying," Ichigo grinned. "She's a handful."

"Don't forget that," and here he gave Ichigo a long look, "be nice to her."

Ichigo blinked, but he nodded slowly. "When she's not trying to kick me."

"Oh," he wasn't flushing, really. "Yes."

And here was to hoping Inoichi didn't run into his father, because somehow Ichigo didn't think that talk about grandkids was going to go down well. "I try," he paused. "Did she say anything?"

"She talks a lot," he noted. "You'll have to be more specific than that."

Inoichi was cruel sometimes.

Oh man, he had to spell it out too. "Um... About me?"

"A bit," he said, eating a strip of bacon.

"That I'm annoying?" he guessed. Yes, he was curious now.

"Among other things," Inoichi told him. "She had a fair bit to say."

No blushing or looking worried. He blinked, trying not to flail. "Well, you haven't tried to hit me so it can't be too bad," he concluded.

"My daughter can handle her own boy issues," he said, easily. "Unless you hurt her."

"She'd hurt me back," Ichigo pointed out.

"There's different kinds of hurts," he said. "And some I'd let her handle. Others..."

No flailing. "I wouldn't. We're friends." Yep, totally the right thing to say. He thought so anyway.

"Mm." Inoichi ate more bacon. "Ino thinks that's a small word for it."

He swallowed and tried to ignore whatever that feeling in the pit of his stomach was. "She said that?"

"I told you, boy," he said. "She said a lot."

That didn't exactly answer the question, no.

"But..." he was not going to flail. "Right." And now he was stuck, because it was obvious Inoichi wasn't going to say anything and Ichigo couldn't quite think anymore.

"There you go," he said, grinning a bit. "That's enough help there, I think."
