Parents Weekend Brunch - Sunday morning in the park

Harvey didn't have too much trouble arranging the brunch in the park. Between the help of the rest of the StuCo members and oddly enough, Marshall (apparently he had a thing for brunch), Harvey hardly had to do a thing. And isn't that what being president is really about?

There was a harvest theme in the tent, with the tablecloths and napkins all in reds, yellows and oranges. Marshall even hand-made the autumn-themed centerpieces on the tables. There was also, of course, every kind of brunch food imaginable set up at the buffet table. There was probably even foods there that didn't even qualify as brunch. Harvey had a hankering for pizza earlier.

A sign was posted outside the tent:

Yeah, Tyler picked up on the eyebrow-wiggle. "He talked to Ino a lot," he said carefully. "I'm not sure if they just liked picking at each other or what."

"Mm-yes," Isshin muttered, sitting back again. "Picking at each other seems about all they do like to do."

He sounded very troubled by this indeed.

"They are just kids," Tyler said, almost defensive. ""Give them time?"

"Time," Isshin muttered, eyes focused more toward the table than Tyler and, at first, that was all he said.

And then he heaved a big breath, his large arms going up behind his head as he leaned, casually, back in his chair and sighed. "Well," he said, "there's always next year."

A perceptive man might have thought that perhaps Isshin didn't exactly believe that.

Tyler wasn't quite sure what to say to that. "In a hurry to get to grandkids?" he suggested.

"I'm just saying," Isshin remarked, with a smile that was far more grim and ominous than it was amused, "we sometimes wake up one day to find all the pleasures of youth that we could have had too far behind us and out of our grasp."
