Parents Weekend Brunch - Sunday morning in the park

Harvey didn't have too much trouble arranging the brunch in the park. Between the help of the rest of the StuCo members and oddly enough, Marshall (apparently he had a thing for brunch), Harvey hardly had to do a thing. And isn't that what being president is really about?

There was a harvest theme in the tent, with the tablecloths and napkins all in reds, yellows and oranges. Marshall even hand-made the autumn-themed centerpieces on the tables. There was also, of course, every kind of brunch food imaginable set up at the buffet table. There was probably even foods there that didn't even qualify as brunch. Harvey had a hankering for pizza earlier.

A sign was posted outside the tent:

"Amnesia? Mer, don't make things up," Jeannie rolled her eyes.

"I'm not," he huffed. "It was a thing."

"So why didn't I get an email about it?" Jeannie huffed back. She hated not being in the loop.

"I couldn't exactly email you when I didn't remember you, now could I?" Rodney pointed out logically. "And afterward... well."

"And afterward you didn't want me finding out what stupid stuff you'd done when you didn't remember who you were?"

"You would have been just as embarrassed if it was you," he justified.

"You think so?" Jeannie was so curious about all the weirdness the radio talked about. "Next year, when I start high school, what are the chances of getting mum to let me transfer here?"

"Hmm, let me think," Rodney pretended to consider. "I'd say... slim to none."

"Come on, Mer! Talking to Sam really got me thinking about how great it would be!" Give her a few years to get over that.

"Yeah, well, unless you get in trouble with the CIA, which I do not advise," he quickly qualified, "I doubt they'll agree to send you so far away."

"Does that mean you're coming home after graduation?" Jeannie asked hopefully.

"Er, well," he hesitated. "Maybe for a little while, but I'll probably take classes over most of the summer."

"Most meaning all?" Jeannie asked, knowing she was right.

"I... might have a free week or two," he hedged. "But, hey, you could probably go to Space Camp this year."

Jeannie frowned. "Don't try to appease me with Space Camp. Maybe I'll try out for Canada's Next Top Model." She was kidding.

Rodney stared in horror. "If you become a vegan model, I will never speak to you again."

Jeannie grinned up at him. "Maybe that's a risk I'm willing to take, Mer."

"I might cry," Rodney tried.

She reached out to pat his arm. "And that would be different from another day...how?"

"And you wonder why I don't come home," he snarked.

She really missed him. "Come on, Mer, let's get this food in your stomach before your hypoglycemia makes you cranky."

Because he wasn't cranky already. Right. "Good idea," he nodded.
