A good first week of classes had only been made better by his spur of the moment visit to Kate, Bod decided. That made him a lot less moody and a lot more outgoing when he arrived at work today. He chatted with the cooking staff and asked how their weekends were panning out before heading to the front of the diner to get everything ready to open.

It was bad enough that it had taken twice as long for Ben to get dressed today because all of his dresser drawers had been weirdly locked.

And the closet door. And the regular door. And the door to the shop. And all of the sharp objects were up on the highest parts of shelves and occasionally wrapped entirely in bubble wrap.

It had taken Ben a while to get the shop set back up to his satisfaction, which was why Ender's message went to his voicemail. His roommate's tone had been entirely normal, but Ben had a bad feeling about this anyway and not just because he'd have to scrouge up his own lunch this afternoon.

He began poking at some new ideas for upgrading Warren's minivan's engine, but was willing--eager, even--to help anyone who walked in today.

Stark's was open! And extremely child-friendly for whatever reason.

Okay. So Tara knew stuff at the shop would have changed while she took four months off. She just wasn't prepared for every single spell ingredient to be locked behind some kind of safety latch. The crystal display had changed too -- it was moved higher and with the crystals swaddled in bubble wrap. And while the candles were still where they always were, the lighters and matches sold with them were locked up and the few ceremonial weapons the shop carried were missing entirely.

Had there been an influx of evil sorcerers nobody had told her about? If there had been, it seemed as likely the sorcerers had put in the protective measures to flummox every witch on the island as it was that another employee had done this stuff to make the shop safer.

Tara went to find a stepladder in hopes of getting the Magic Box back into Wiccan-friendly conditions. Well, at least it wouldn't be a dull first day back...

Seifer was taking it easy today. He was reading another history book and making notes of places to visit. The music was mellow and calm today, with a slight reggae/funk beat to it.

And in the window:

It was a nice normal day, which meant Hope was sitting behind the counter reading a magazine.

And she was even leaving Apu alone, too, something that'd probably thrown him for a loop judging by the way he kept giving her weird looks.

That she kept ignoring because she was in a good mood.

Today's Squishy flavors: Happy, Productivity, Orange.

Sean was still feeling migraine-y from the phone call home a couple days earlier, which would explain the vaguely pinched expression on his face as he moved through the store, tidying and rearranging and just getting his hands into things. There were days he liked the paperwork and days he liked doing the hands-on stuff.

Today was a hands-on day.

The first hands-on thing he'd done had been to toss a sign up in the window.

She was a vampire, she wasn't supposed to get sick. But Jessica felt awfully listless that night as she opened up Caritas and had to wonder if she wasn't getting enough blood. Real blood, of course, not that True Blood crap.

She said as much to Tino. Not that she had any intention of biting him, but it did make her feel a little better to watch him flail and back away.

There was something minorly weird going on on the island. Jeremy could tell by how much trouble he'd had getting into his closet earlier today, when he'd wanted to pick out a nice suit and shirt and a good tie that went with both. He'd eventually wrestled the closet door into submission, but the experience (along with the random little gates in the stairs back at the dorms) came back to him as he was escorting George into Il Pollo, through a door the staff were currently trying to get propped open because they kept having to come and open it individually for everyone who came in.

But he cared not, because he was on a date, and he gave George a winning smile as they were being shown to their table. "Did I mention yet that you look great, George?"

He had.

[ooc: Jerms is here with the slightly modded giiirl, but post is open for your other Il Pollo needs, sure sure.]
