Ye old space shuttle parking

Anakin was tinkering under the shuttle while he waited for Rose to come up for their weekly lesson that was always supposed to be on Sunday omg rly.

He had a smudge of grease on his nose and was whistling tunelessly to himself.

[OOC: Because timezones are the suck, please to be reporting that Anakin and Rose went off-planet together even if we haven't gotten there yet omg. Thanks!]

As if out of nowhere, a water balloon flew toward Anakin.

...and now Anakin's shirt was all clingy.

He cursed fluently in Huttese to himself.

Rose stepped behind Anakin, snapping a smart salute, "Cap'n, reporting for duty, sir!"

Anakin pulled himself out from under the shuttle, still damp from the water ballooning. "Master Skywalker's fine," he said, grinning.

"Master? Uh, mind if I don't 'cause that just brings a lot of bad-naughty associations with me." Rose said with a wrinkle of her nose, "Plus, there was this race of mutant aliens who wanted to referred to themselves as humanity's 'Lord and Masters'."

Anakin winced. "I'm no lord," he said a little vehemently, "and it's better to stay away from bad-naughty anything. Anakin'll work fine."

"How 'bout Capitan Blood? The scourgiest pirate of the seven seas?" Rose said, changing her tone and imitating a pirate's burr. "Arrr."

Anakin wrinkled his nose up. "I don't want to be like Han Solo, thanks. In anything." He waved Rose towards the ship. "My daughter's useless boyfriend."

"Heh, I forgot about him, yeah I can see why you've no love for them." Rose entered the ship then said, off her shoulder, "Met your girl Rory by the way."

Anakin's ears turned red. "She's not my girl," he muttered, strapping himself into his seat with entirely more care than the task required.

"There's a saying here: Doth protest too much."

"I'm not protesting," Anakin argued, going through the preflight sequence quickly, "I'm correcting. She's going to prom with my son."

Rose paused in the pre-flight checking. "Wait, Rory and Luke? Isn't that a bit incestuous?"

Anakin's face left no doubt about his feelings on the matter. "Like I'm in a position to think clearly on this," he muttered, flipping the engines to life.

He clearly didn't want to talk about it, then a thought struck her, "Will you be going to the prom? You know, as guide or something?"

"I was thinking about it," Anakin admitted.

He had a thing about kind of hating himself.

"Are you?" he asked.

"I haven't really thought about it," she said with a shrug, "Hey, how about we go together?"

Most of the color drained out of Anakin's cheeks.

"As friends?" he asked weakly.

Rose nodded, "As mates, you can go stalk your son and ex-girlfriend and I can watch you wallow in misery. It's a win-win situation if you ask me. 'Sides, I've never been to a prom before."

Anakin took the shuttle into the atmosphere at an incredibly fast rate of ascent. "If you bring popcorn, I'm going to be cranky," he warned.

"How about chips instead?" She asked, holding on to her seat.

"As long as you don't share with Jaye," Anakin decided, zipping out past the moon. "Where to today?" he asked.

"I doubt she'd be focused on anything other than her date anyway," she said, "How about Neptune?"

That didn't make him feel any better.

"Neptune doesn't sound far enough," he said, speeding up and heading towards the planet.
