The Perk, Sunday mid-afternoon

Parker bought a cocoa and a muffin and grabbed a window booth while she waited for Chris to show up. She had a notepad with her, and was trying to come up with a topic for her Spy Tech paper while she waited.

Chris waved to Parker and went up to the counter to order a cup of coffee and a brownie before he joined her.

"I hope I'm not late," he said.

"No, I'm a little early," she said, looking up with a small smile. "Just working on an assignment. Did Wyatt give you a hard time about Jo?" she asked, looking sardonic.

"He said he's going to ask her out, too," Chris said with a shrug. "I told him its her decision who she wants to date."

"Good for you. And true enough." Parker toasted him. "I'll be rooting for you, for what it's worth. Your brother's amusing in small doses, but in large-- grrr." She closed her notebook. "You mentioned a few of your classes. Artifacts, and Folklore? How are those going?"

"Mystical Artifacts looks like it will be a good class," Chris said, switching into dork mode easily. "And Hunting is awesome. I really like Mr. Winchester."

"He's very cool. I dunked him at the Homecoming carnival, he didn't hold a grudge. His sons are pretty cool too, although I don't know them real well. Stand-up guys." She widened her eyes. "And anything that gives you an advantage on this island is a good idea. Who's teaching Mystical Artifacts?"

"Sakura Nishi....something," Chris replied. "I've talked to Dean a few times, haven't met Sam yet. What are you taking?"

"She must be new. Does she seem sane?" Parker's only slightly joking. "Hunting, Spy Tech, Revolutions, and Forensics. Which I'm hoping will be less weird as we go on-- the 'victim' last week was one of my best friends. That was weird." She shrugged. "All of which look like fun, and with a tiny bit of tweaking, translate to Science, History, Sociology, and Technology credits in college. Always important."

Chris chuckled. "Yeah, she seems a lot more sane than my D.A.M.M. teacher. And I really didn't think about the transcript thing. I have a few years though. Where are you going for college?"

"Oxford. St. John's college. Early decision, just came through last week. Business/economics, and languages. Double major, if it doesn't kill me." She grinned into her cup. "And D.A.M.M.-- Malicious Magic? How nuts are we talking? Attitude and weirdness, or 'oh my god we're gonna die'?"

"That's in England, right?" Chris asked. "That's pretty impressive."

He rolled his eyes. "Attitude and weirdness. He told us that chocolate is necessary when fighting evil."

"Mmm. Thanks. Some of it's money, some of it's connections, some of it-- insane amounts of studying," Parker said wryly. "I'm just hoping I can keep up. This place prepares you for the company of geniuses--" As did growing up with Jarod. "-- but I'll be surrounded by them there." She grinned at the eye-rolling. "He might be nuts, but I can't help but like the approach. What did he say chocolate was good for?"

"I'm not sure exactly," Chris admitted. "But congrats on school. That sounds awesome."

Rose entered the Perk and ordered muffins and coffee. Sometimes tea isn't enough.

Parker looked up from her notepad, and smiled at Rose. "Hey, Rose. How's it going?"

Rose turned and smiled. "Hallo, Parker. I'm brilliant, I think I'm finally settling in with the quirks of this island."

"Yes?" Parker took a sip of her cocoa, looking interested. "Encountered gremlins yet? Or just had something incredibly weird happen?"

"Saw two old friends I never thought I'd see again." Rose said, her smile turning rueful. "I think that was more shocking than anything I'll ever see, heck throw me in a closet of man eating unicorns and I think I'd still be less than surprised than that moment."

Parker grinned. "I have a friend here whose own daughter is teaching-- and she's now three years older and at least six inches taller than her 'mom.' Freaky, isn't it?" She shook her head. "For me it was the zombie invasion. Talk about traumatizing trial by fire."

"That certainly is strange! I take it the daughter is from your friend's future?" Rose grinned, "I think I'd be more at home with a zombie invasion."

"Yup. And she refuses to name her daddy, which my friend finds annoying." Parker grinned. "And me too. How was your class? My friend Anders liked it."

"Oh, I'd certainly find that annoying if a Rose jr. suddenly appeared out of nowhere and be all obnoxious about her parentage." Rose said and felt a thrill of delight at Anders' comment. "That's certainly wonderful to hear! I didn't expect the class to go well as it did."

"How did you get into teaching? And who did you run into here?" Parker asked idly. "Maybe I know them."

"I was starting my sabbatical when I got an invitation to teach from Fandom High, wasn't a place I knew nor heard off and I thought it was the best place to be in." Rose explained the hesitated, "Yes, I think you'd know them. One is the Doctor, he's a teacher too, I think."

"I've met him, haven't had a class with him, though." Parker looked thoughtful. "Which... probably makes things even more complicated, from what I know about him. Which isn't a lot." She studied Rose. "Can I guess on the other person?"
