Luke's Diner, January 15

Grumbling (silently) a little bit at the handwavey phone call he'd received from Cameron who was apparently still having himself a grand old time in California, Yitzhak opened the diner himself this morning.

At least he had a ridiculous number of new dresses (with shoes to match) to take some of the edge off the annoyance.

He'd have to make sure he showed up in one of the racier numbers next time Cameron showed up for his shift.

Luke's is open.

Okay they were heading to Pizza Planet, but Marie had to have a burger and fries.

And Jamie is a sucker for a girl who pouts.

Which is how they ended up here for lunch.

Marie grinned at Jamie as she perused the menu, which was really a waste of time since she knew exactly what she wanted.

"Thanks for changing your mind," she said.

"That's okay. I really don't like making decisions anyway," Jamie replied. "Besides I probably have a dupe eating pizza right now."

"Do you have a bunch of dupes wandering around?" Marie asked curiously.

"At least one," Jamie said looking at the menu. "I couldn't decide whether to get up or go do something. So I did both. What are you getting?"

"A burger, fries, onion rings and a chocolate shake," Marie said. "You?"

"I'm going to have the same," Jamie replied lacking any kind of originality. "So are you doing anything fun for class this week?"

"Not really," Marie said. "I have some homework for my fairy tales class and a group project for Conflict Resolution."

"Well I don't have any homework though I'm hoping that revolutions class gets to overthrow something this week," Jamie said hopefully.

Marie grinned. "What do you think we should overthrow?"

"I think we should overthrow our teacher," Jamie said thoughtfully. "Because isn't that the best way to show we learned something?"

"Hmmm, you might be on to something," Marie said. "Maybe we should wait a couple more classes before we try though."

"You think? I can be a one man team of revolution and I'll make you queen of the classroom," Jamie said confidently.

Marie giggled. "Do I get a crown?"

"No. You get a baseball cap. We don't want to rub the commoners' noses it it."

Marie pouted a little. "But I'd look much prettier in a crown," she pointed out.

"You'd look great in anything," Jamie said rolling his eyes.

"You're just saying that because you love me," Marie accused lightly.

"Duh," Jamie said not even bothering to argue. "Though I'm sure I can get others to agree with me."

"Creating duplicates to agree with you doesn't count."

Jamie just blinked.

"You're on to me, aren't you?"

Marie giggled. "Little bit."

"What else are you picking up in my head?" Jamie said suspiciously.

"Just random things here and there," Marie said. Yes, she was blushing.

"You didn't pick up on my dream last night did you?" Jamie said suddenly looking worried.

Marie's blush deepened and she nodded. "Not much," she added quickly. "But some random thoughts."

Jamie literally meeped.

"How random?"

"It doesn't matter," Marie said, fanning herself a little. "It's awfully warm in here."

She was grateful that the server brought her milkshake then. "I really try not to intrude on your thoughts when I pick them up," she said.

Jamie didn't really seem to thing it was that warm in here.

"It's okay. It's not like you can control that," Jamie replied. "With a... talent like yours we just have to make certain considerations."

Marie nodded. "I think we've done okay with that so far."

"Right so now that we've finished talking about your singing and piano playing..."

Yes. Jamie is a dork.

Good thing for Jamie that Marie thought he was a cute dork.

"I haven't played in a while," she admitted. "I got lazy. It's hard to play with gloves on."

"Are you worried about absorbing the talents and memories of the piano?" Jamie asked. "Maybe you should schedule time with one of the music teachers to reserve a room to play."

"That's not a bad idea," Marie said. "I bet Lorne would let me use his classroom sometime."

"Sure. I wonder if they are going to do another talent show this semester," Jamie wondered. "I'd like to hear you perform again. Or anytime really."

Yes, there might be a catch in his voice.

Marie smiled. "I'll play for you anytime you want," she said.

"Will you sing too?" Jamie asked.

"If you want me too," Marie agreed.

"I love your voice," Jamie said quietly. Almost embarrassed.

"Just didn't want to push you. Y'know?" Jamie said trying to not sound like a total dork.

"Well, if you want to hear me sing, we can always go to Caritas," Marie pointed out.

Jamie gives Marie his best charming smile. "Maybe I don't want you to sing for anyone else?"

"Selfish," Marie teased, reaching across the table for his hand.

"Damn straight," Jamie said squeezing her hand. "And I have no problems admitting that too."
