The Devil's Nest, Saturday Night

In spite of the sudden changes in town, or perhaps because of them, the Nest was opened.

Mazikeen, for one, was certainly unaware of any odd things happening. If she had been, she'd be quite glad to have not been turned into anything silly. Like Saddam Hussain.

Weetiny umbrellas were lined up and waiting for customers.

Tess walked in, wondering if this could be the dining hall. It didn't look quite right, but there were tables. And chairs. She sat down on a chair next to a bar, hoping someone would serve her.

Mazikeen wandered over to the strange girl, waiting for her to place an order.

The hospital staff looked very strange in here. "I'm hungry," Tess said.

The look Mazikeen gave her could be translated as: 'And how do you expect me to solve that?'

Tess didn't like that look. "Run out of food?" That could happen if you arrived too late.

More like they never had food to begin with. She looked around behind the bar for something edible. Cocktail olives and cherries. Just what a growing teenager needs.

Mazikeen put a bottle of cocktail olives in front of the girl.

Tess actually smiled. This was a nice dinner lady. She quickly devoured the olives and that made her feel a lot better.
