All and Sundries -- Thursday 1/25

Somehow, Turtle didn't actually thinking putting the excessive amount of pie on sale would help push them off the shelves any easier, especially when they used to be baseball bats or air fresheners, so she was...experimenting. With flavors for the shaved ice.

It turned out surprisingly well. She seemed to think so, anyway. It was really up to whichever brave soul decided to chance it.

Today's Not-Quite-Yet Squishy flavors: Pie, Red, Pi.

Apu's in a good mood. New register and new Squishy machine on the way? Come on.

Turtle has abandoned the pursuit of the Polish language for what looked like poorly translated Japanese, pouring over the instruction manual for the computer system she'd have to fiddle around with for the new register.

Liz is busy keeping all the stuffed animals from the toy section corralled where they belong. There was this really unfortunate accident in hardware, y'see....

I threw in a third one for the heck of it. I feel...rebellious.

Tori really hoped that this place had a surfboard for sale (and some stuffed fish for Flipper) as she walked into the store.

All and Sundries had everything. Except duct tape.

"Hey, need any help?"

"Hey." Tori smiled as she recognized Turtle. "Yeah, I was wondering if you had any surfboards for sale? I know it's winter and all, but I was hoping to get one." That so wasn't Tori crossing her fingers behind her back in hope.

Turtle looked thoughtful for a moment. "Um, I'm not really sure if we have any out right now, it being the off-season, but, if we do, it's going to be over there with skateboards, sleds, and other such board-like apparatus. I can peek my head into the backroom real quick for you, too, just in case. if there aren't any over there, I'm sure there's gotta be some in the back."

Tori nodded, smiling. "Okay, thanks. I'll check over there and see if I can't find one." She paused. "Do you have any stuffed animals as in fish? Small ones?" Yeah, she couldn't forget about Flipper. "I know that may sound odd."

Just a bit. Turtle nodded her head toward where the sounds of metallic barks were coming. "Toys section. If we've got any, though, good luck catching them."

"Thanks for the help." Tori grinned and decided to head for the toy section first, hoping to find some fish for Flipper.

Pippi stops by the store on her way to see Phale and Wilson.

She picks out a nice little basil plant and a cute little pot to go with it and brings them both up to the counter.

If Pippi had any store credit when Blackadder left, he probably just took it with him because he's a greedy bastard like that... Or the record of her store credit might have been lost... Or maybe it's there.

It's been a while since she's messed with anybody by trying to buy anything with gold coins. So if you feel up to dealing with that, then just tell her she has no more store credit.

*snerk*

Hmm, now this was an interesting purchase. Turtle observed it carefully, trying to see where she could take this. "Insterested in wee gardening?" she asked, scribbling out the totals on the receipt pad, with a small cheer of OMG, I won't have to do this anymore soooooon! in her head.

"House warming gift." Pippi explained putting the things down on the counter.

"I should have store credit." she added. "... Actually, it's been a while... I don't know how much I got left."

"If it's a gift," Turtle offered, "maybe you should get a pretty bow, or a card to go with it?"

She frowned slightly after that, though. "Store credit? I'm not really sure I remember coming across anything like that in the records, but...I can go check if you'd like?"

"Oh yes, a bow I think would be a good idea." Pippi nodded. "... Checking is probably good... It has been quite some time, so I might not have any more credit."

Turtle nodded. "Well, you can go pick out some nice ribbon while I go check?"

She was pretty sure she hadn't come across anything like that, though her mind was kind of turning on the idea of setting up an account system to correspond with the new register system...

"Sure thing!"

Pippi flounced over and picked out a nice thick red silk ribbon to make a bow around the pot.

Turtle returned a few minutes later, shaking her head, but with a yellow legal pad. "It's Pippi, right?" she asked. "Didn't find anything back there, but if you're interested in setting up another account, I'm sure that can be arranged. But the thing with credit is that I'm definately not going to start one with any small amount of money. I'm thinking at least a seventy-five dollar minimum for the establishment of store credit."

"Um..." Pippi dug through her pockets.

Turtle picked up the coin and held it up, observing it with skepticism. She speculated on it, holding it close to her eye, drawing it away, bringing it close again. She closed one eye, closed the other, tapped her fingernail on its surface. Finally, she bit into it, probably aggrivating another toothache to come. Satisfied with her examination, she shifted her head toward Pippi. "Is this gold?"

"It ain't chocolate."

"Well, yah, I figured that one out." Turtle's tongue shifted in her mouth in distaste. Sure, it was what they did in all the movies but gold? Left a really gross aftertaste. "Anyway, I, uh, I suppose this will do. A little unconventional and I'll have to get it appraised to know exactly how much you'll have to your name, but, for now, definately enough to cover your purchases for today, I think."

"You sure? I think I got another one in my shoe."

Turtle looked at Pippi for a moment.

"Well, maybe that's a good idea. Just to be sure...."

Pippi took off a boot and shook it upside down over the counter.

A safety pin, a movie ticket, a charm bracelet, book of matches and two coins (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/39/83966508_eda88307f5_o.jpg) fell out.

Turtle carefully divided the coins from the safety pin, movie ticket, charm bracelet and the matches, sliding them across the counter to join the other one, and then scribbling "Pippi.......3 gold coins, minus ~~handwavey amount~~ for basil, pot, bow" on the legal pad after also heading it with "Credit Accounts."

"And you're all set, Pippi. Thank you very much for your business."

"Hey, I've been looking for that." she said pocketing the safty pin.

"You're very welcome. Thank you very much for being here."

She put on the bracelet, gathered up her items and started to flounce out.

"See ya!"
