Luke's Diner, Saturday

Jude was in a breakfasty kind of mood today. Thus, the specials read:

Pancakes on a stick
Bacon on a stick
Sausage on a stick
Stampede pancakes on a stick (with bacon)
Pancake and sausage on a stick
(it was totally my idea first)
Omelette on a stick

Luke's is open and going to run out of kebab sticks very, very soon.

He's working hard. Really.

"What in the world are you going to do if you ever run out of sticks?" Setsuna asked as she came in, small smile on her face, to visit Jude at work. There may have been a box in her mittened hands.

"Dunno. Start whittling down the furniture," he said with a smile. "Hey, bra."

"Hey," Setsuna greeted back, maintainin the small smile as she set the box on the counter. "I brought something (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1198849.html?thread=69533697#t69533697) for you."

"Presents? Awwwesome, bra." He opened the box and pulled out the scarf, chuckling. "This is totally awesome!" he declared, draping it around his neck and bruises that had almost faded. "Thanks, 'Suna-bra."

"Well," Setsuna chuckled a little, glad to see that he liked it, and shrugged. "We had to knit scarves in home ec, and, since I already have a great scarf, I figured...."

"Still awesome," he said firmly, scooting around the counter to give her a big hug.

Hugs were always really nice. Setsuna tightly hugged him back "How's things?" she asked upon release, sliding onto a stool at the counter.

He shrugged a bit, leaning on the counter on the other side. "Eh, can't complain. Pretty laidback week."

Setsuna nodded a little. "Yeah. The list of apologies I need to give out has gotten thankfully smaller. Just Henry and the twins to go..." She sighed a little. "Think I can grab a milkshake? I still have that awful Chupacabra taste in my mouth from yesterday."

"Totally can do," he drawled. "What kind - chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, cherry? Or those ones mixed together. And what does a Chupacabra taste like?"

"It tastes primarily of goats," Setsuna responded, with a wrinkling of her nose and a sneer of distaste on her lips. Her tongue shifted a little in her mouth as the taste tried to come back. "A mix of cherry and vanilla sounds really good right now."

"Ew." Jude made a face as he started making the milkshake, overscooping just a wee bit.

"Precisely," Setsuna said. "Not in the least bit pleasant, but, for some reason, I couldn't resist. It's eerie, but I for some reason feel like cursing Asuna Kagurazaka for the entire experience, although I can't fathom how she could possibly have anything to do with it."

"Hmm," Jude considered, then shrugged. "Hey, at least you got someone to blame?" His tongue poked out of his mouth in concentration as he tried to finish the milkshake without exploding it all over the place.

"Perhaps," Setsuna said, with a small shrug, but then grinned at the concentration put into the creation of the shake while she waited patiently, watching him, mind idly starting to drift a little...

Jude set down the shake in front of her with a grin when it was finally ready. No explosions or drips or anything. He was proud of himself.

Setsuna shook her head, faint blush rising up because of where exactly it was that her mind had drifted, and gave Jude a nervous smile. "Thanks, Jude," she said. "Looks amazing."

"Thanks." He frowned a little, concerned. "Hey, you okay?"

"Hm?" Setsuna looked up and blinked at Jude, and then realized that, yeah, she probably had that slight flush to her face that usually went along with this feeling in her chest that she had, and that's probably what he was asking about. Which didn't help quell the feeling at all, either. She shook her head. "Yeah, I'm fine. Really. Just a bit...distracted, I suppose. It's been a rough week for me and..an' all..."

Oh, hey, look, shake. Setsuna quickly went to the task of enjoying it. Hum hum hum.

"Yeah, I guess so," he said sympathetically, leaning on the counter again. "I mean, I was just a jerk to most people, but I haven't even tried to talked to Pheebs yet." He looked sheepish over this.

"Something....bad happened between you and Phoebe?" she asked, quietly.

Jude went pink and scuffed the toe of one oversized sneaker on the floor. "Uh, yeah. Well, no, not bad, but . . . we kinda . . . made out in the park. Like, big time."

"...Oh." Setsuna's blush came back and she focused on the milkshake again. Not like she was anyone to say anything. "I..I see."

"Yeah," Jude said awkwardly. "But, like, it was just you and her, so I guess I'm not that bad . . . I mean, like, you're both my friends."

Just her and Phoebe so he wasn't 'that bad?' Where did that put Setsuna, then? Frowning deeply, she just refrained from saying anything, focused on the milkshake.

Jude winced. "Aw, geez bra, I'm sorry. I didn't mean . . . I'm sorry."

Setsuna shook her head. "No, it...it's okay. I know you didn't mean it like that..."
