The Park, Tuesday Afternoon

After finishing up office hours, Aziraphale and Wilson had walked back from the school, so that the angel could strengthen the wards on their half of the house, allowing the young doctor the security he needed to catch a nap. Then it was off to the park for the angel, where he sat quietly on his favorite bench, wearing the ski jacket Wilson had bought him for Sunday's trip, and staring with a dark expression at the pond.

Occasionally, he broke off a bit of scone for the ducks who milled around his feet. But mostly, he didn't really notice them. He had a lot of thinking to do.

[ooc: Aziraphale is here to meet [livejournal.com profile] slr_mercury, but the park is open for all your parky needs.]

Ami wanted to go for a walk. She wanted to feed the ducks. She wanted to get away form the dorm actually. So regardless the cold, she headed to the park, with a pop tart in her pocket, and her mini-computer in her hand.

Making a bee-line for the bench with the most access to the ducks, she was startled to note someone already there. Oh. Well, maybe he would share.

"Hi, i am sorry to disturb you, but would you horribly mind if i shared your bench? It is just that i wanted to give this pop tart to the ducks, and this is the best bench for that." She looked at the man and smiled sweetly as she showed him the duck-destined pop tart.

Ami sat down, putting her computer next to her and crumbling up some sugary goodness for the ducks.

"I was yes, were you one of the organizers?" She vaguely remembered Billy mentioning a similar sounding name.

"I did! It was a fantastic trip. I have not skied in a long time so it was a wonderful opportunity to practice one of my hobbies. Thank you so much for organizing, and please thank Dr. Wilson for me as well." More pop-tarts went to the ducks.

//Your move// came a voice from the computer, in Japanese.

"Oh i am terribly sorry, i forgot to turn the sound off."

Ami opened her computer to show him the chess board (http://www.download-free-games.com/images/grandmaster_chess.jpg).

"Chess. I haven't found anyone at this school who plays so i play against the machine."

[identity profile] slr-mercury.livejournal.com 2007-01-30 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, students do that to advertise clubs i think." She turned the screen to let him see better. "Do you play?"

[identity profile] slr-mercury.livejournal.com 2007-01-30 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Ami was not about to ask him how old he was, no matter how curious she was at the remark about havign plenty of time.
"My old school had one, yes, but i have not seen one here. It is a pity. If you ever wanted to learn though, i could teach you, the basics are easy, mastery takes a lifetime."

[identity profile] slr-mercury.livejournal.com 2007-01-30 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"A club? Me?" This was an entirely foreign concept to Ami. she simply hadn't thought of it. "I.. how?"

[identity profile] slr-mercury.livejournal.com 2007-01-30 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you think they will? Approve it that is." Ami was warming up to this idea that she could start something. "Do you think people will come?"

Briefly she contemplated posters. "Oh. Do you know any teachers who might be interested? Wait are you a teacher? Do you think you could... maybe..." she looked up at him hopefully.

[identity profile] slr-mercury.livejournal.com 2007-01-30 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ami was totally running with an idea that just occurred to her. "Well, we could advertise that we have an adviser who does not know how to play and that may attract others who may want to learn?"

[identity profile] slr-mercury.livejournal.com 2007-01-30 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really?!? That is so wonderful" She clapped her hands together and grinned. "I am not sure when to meet though. Maybe Thursdays?" That was the one day a week Ami had no classes at all and could prepare.

"Oh thank you so much Professor Aziraphale! You have no idea how much this means to me. I love Chess." She tossed the rest of the crumbled pop tart to the ducks.

Ami didn't think that she had given him her last name but as a professor he probably saw rosters of students or something like that. She smiled at him. "Thank you. I will go away, i seem to be out of pop tart for the duck anyway. Thank you thank you very much." She grinned and got up to leave.

"I will" She smiled and waved, hurrying back to the dorms, to work on posters.

Saigo, wing still in a bandage and sling, but out of the Animal Hospital returned to the park. It would have taken a long time to get there, but Ernest had been kind enough to carry him.

He saw the ducks and the kind human feeding them, and waddled over.

//Thank you.// Saigo quacked, taking the scone. He ate it with pleasure. Animal Hospital food might be nourishing but it was rather bland.

//All in the line of duty.// Saigo quacked proudly. //A monster was threatening the flock, and I distracted it in hopes it would give them time to get to safety.//

//That was you?// one of the ducks asked.

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
//I too am glad.// Saigo quacked good naturedly, and accepted the new bit of scone. //I had never seen the like before, it was similar to the cats that I have seen here, but it was huge.//

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
//A Lion?// Saigo repeated. He'd never heard of such a- Wait! No, there had been something on the teevee about that. //Good heavens I believe you're right! Was it caught?//

//Ah, yes the glasses human was, himself and yet not himself.//
