Sparky Repairs, Thursday

Ugh... what a weird morning...

Hikaru and Kaoru opened the shop right on time, science textbook and guitar at hand. As usual, each sat boredly behind the counter, waiting for customers as they did their homework and took turns fleeing to class.

Sparky's is open~

In a moment between costumers, the store went quiet. Almost too quiet as if something was cushioning all sound. The shadows seemed to have an edge to it and the temperature dropped a couple of degrees as if someone had just left the front door to the store open.

Kaoru had just plucked a note out on his guitar, and even it seemed to go dead way faster than it should have.

//"Kaoruu~ did you leave a window in here open or something? It's cold."// Hikaur looked up from some of the homework he was doing and called to the back of the shop where Kaoru was practicing.

//"No, I think they're all locked."// Kaoru had plucked out a few more suddenly unsuccessful notes before leaving the guitar on the couch and coming up front to join him.

Despite the lighting in the store, it suddenly seemed to grow darker around as the shadows grew and the silence was broken by a sighing noise coming from the corners of the room.

A little wide-eyed, the twins looked around the store for the source of this noise. What was going on? Wasn't the weekend when weird stuff happened?!

The weirdness apparently didn't seem to care about what day it was. There was a rush as the shadows in the store seemed to gather together and for a brief moment there was an almost human like shape before the darkness tried to engolf the twins.

"Ack!" Both backed up into each other, sheilding themselves with their arms to fend off whatever seemed to be surrounding them.

The shielding didn't seem to work as the blackness moved right through their arms as if it was consuming them both.

"Get off! Get off!" Both waved their arms around wildly, trying to swat this consuming darkness away from themselves.

Maybe the waving and shouting did work because all of a suddenly the shadow pushed them away from each other. With a whoosh, it disappeared as if it just got reassorbed again in the shadows that it had come from. The light and sound returned and it seemed like everything was back to normal, except for the chill it might have left inside its prey.

Hikaru and Kaoru staggered forward from the push, both suddenly feeling quite and cold and strangely weak...

//"Hikaru..? What just happened..?"// Kaoru went to grab onto the counter as his hand went straight through. And hands weren't supposed to do that..

Haruhi arrived at Sparky's and walked inside, looking around before calling out, "Oi, Kaoru?"

Yes, she was only calling one of them, because he was the only one she needed.

Familiar voice! "Haruuhiii!" They both cheered from somewhere in the shop, Kaoru popping through the open door to the back. They'd been walking through walls and doors back there, checking out the places they'd never thought to look through.

"I only called Kaoru," Haruhi replied flatly, shaking her head. Oh well, she should have expected this.

//"Here!"// Kaoru grinned brightly, Hikaru staying near the door frame so that he could watch~

//"This,"// Haruhi lifted a textbook she brought in, handing it towards Kaoru. //"would be your textbook I think you need for class that you left behind."//

Kaoru reaches out to get it, the book falling through his hands as soon as she lets go of it. //"Oops."//

Haruhi felt her eyebrows raise as she witnessed the book fall. //"You're supposed to hold on to that, not drop it,"// she chided.

//"I tried~"// He grinned and went to pick it up, his fingers moving through the book as he tried to grab hold of it.

Her mouth dropped slightly open, giving Kaoru the best skeptical look she could muster. //"The hell?"//

//"I can't seem to pick it up! Something must be wrong~"// He looked up at her with a very amused smirk on his face. Oh, this was fun.

Haruhi frowned, quickly scanning the ceiling and the walls. //"Holographic projector. Where is it?"//

//"Nonsense. We don't have any projectors."// Hikaru walked over, coming up to pat her on the head but it just went through. //"See?"//

That shouldn't have felt as chilling as it did; Haruhi shuddered slightly before stepping back. //"But..."// She looked around one more time, for good measure. While they were in a shop that had loads of electronic-looking things, she didn't see anything that looked like a projector. //"How?"//

//"This creepy shadow thing attacked us. When it went away we were like this."// They shrugged. It didn't seem all that damaging...just a little disabling in the long run.

//"What?"// Haruhi replied in disbelief. //"Something attacked you? And you're okay with that?"//

//"It's kinda cool!"// Hikaru nodded.

//"Although... it'll kinda suck if we could never pick stuff up again.."// Kaoru started to think about it more. How were they going to eat?!

//"I can't believe you,"// Haruhi resisted the urge to facepalm. //"A 'creepy shadow' simply 'came in' and did this?"//

//"Yes."// Deadpan. //"It's not like you can stop a shadow from attacking. It's not solid."//

//"It's not like shadows usually attack,"// Haruhi countered. //"There has to be someway to get you two back to normal."//

They shake their heads. //"If it's happening to other people.. which we wouldn't really know since we've been here most of the day, then someone should be looking into it..."// Kaoru suggested with a hint of uncertainty.

//"Then I'll go look and see,"// Haruhi said firmly. //"As much fun as you seem to be having, you can't stay like that forever."//

//"Guess not.."// It had been fun not thinking of the bad parts. Of course Haruhi would be the one to inject the 'sensible' into their fun.
