The Perk, Thursday afternoon

River was absentmindedly chewing on a muffin, while stirring her coffee. She didn't like waiting, especially not now when she knew where to go. Her mind had locked on to the task at hand, not questioning or worrying.

None of the people she had asked had said no. If she'd thought about that more it might have surprised her.

Jane sauntered into the perk for some black coffee and something sweet.

As she looked around deciding if she wanted to have it there or take it away with her she noticed River and went to sit down with the girl.

"Hey there River Girl."

River's face brightened and she quickly returned to this reality. "Jane! Wanted to talk to you about the trip."

"I kinda hoped there'd be more information forthcoming."

"There is," River said. "What do you want to know?"

"Who is it that I'm supposed to be shooting for you and how many of them are there?"

"Can't tell you that," River said, looking a little sorry. "There might be alliance troops, random space criminals or reavers, all in unknown quantities.

"Okay, so this is more of a 'I want security' rather then 'cocksucking boy done me wrong' kinda thing."

River nodded. "Yes. I need to find a place called Miranda. Might be some corpses there."

"No, I believe they don't."

"Well alright then."

River pushed what remained of her muffin across the table to Jane. "Thank you."
