Chrono still couldn't fix the watch (how the heck could a little girl do that much damage to it, anyhow?) and Rosette was still gone for her cupcake party with all the other spastic little freaks (forget Lucifer. Human children were the source of all evil), which left for a very disgruntled full demon Chrono by himself in the church today trying to put the seal back on without using any powers, because the power it would take would use more of Rosette's life than just leaving it open. Ugh. Where was an alchemist when you needed one?

Monday:
No confessions today.

He wasn't an alchemist, but he was quite capable of sealing a demon.

"Good morning," Came a calm voice from directly behind Chrono.

Calm or not, a voice from behind suddenly breaking through a nearly silent church was definately enough to make Chrono jump slightly, wings tensing, nearly dropping the watch in his hand. He turned around sharply, and, in retrospect, will have realized he should have known what to expect, but, in the moment, it escaped him. "Oh." He straightened. "You're...back as you were."

Chrono wanted to say more. But, at the same time, Chrono didn't exactly have a death wish, either.

He was sleeping with the devil and he didn't have a death wish?

"I am," Lucifer replied, eyes moving up and down Chrono's new form. "And yet you are still this way."

One must pick and chose his death wishes carefully.

Chrono held out the slightly glowing watch. "Rosette broke the seal while she was little, to a point where I can't fix it, and she was too small to be able to do it herself."

Lucifer glanced at the watch before taking a step forward into Chrono's space. "Perhaps I like you better in this form."

Maybe it was his current from that kept Chrono from reacting to a step closer like he normal would. Perhaps it was his concern about the watch. Or it could have very well just have been the all-too-fresh memories of the angel before him as a cute, cuddling cherub that kept Chrono on track.

Although it did take an effort not to smirk.

"You think I don't like me better in this form? I'd keep it, if I could, but the longer that watch stays unsealed, the more life is slowly draining from Rosette's already too short existence. Just having it open isn't doing much harm, but it is still doing harm..."

Lucifer dared him to make a comment about the cherub. And the, ugh, hugging. Like Chrono, he also remembered that morning and how much he hated Rosette at that moment.

He gave Chrono a flat look. "And?"

"And, not that I expect you to understand, but I actually do care for her. She's more than just a vessel for my power or a way to keep the Order from just killing me where I stand."

Or a tool for revenge, Chrono? A replacement for what can't be replaced?

His teeth clenched a little; despite his best efforts, the glow from the watch increased slightly.

Lucifer watched the watch glow as the demon got riled over something. It was intriguing. "I was under the impression that the nun was precious to you?" He asked, smirking slightly.

Can't spell 'demon' without...

Feeling the pull of power so quickly going into Lucifer's hands, Chrono forced himself to calm down. He forced himself to think of little clingy cherubs.

...Suprisingly effective, that.

"That's a way to put it, yes."

Lucifer took a step forward, forcing Chrono back against the confessional booths. "And why exactly should I assist you with your little problem?"

Chrono's back brushed against the confessional, slightly awkward with his wings, and he lifted his chin. "No one ever suggested that you should."

"Then why did you tell me about the watch? I only observed that you were still in this form, I never asked why."

"Conversation?" Fueled by a strange sense of excitement for the reach for the upper hand, a battle he knew he was destined to lose, Chrono just may have grinned, just a little, his eyes steady on Lucifer.

Lucifer tilted his head and leaned forward, resting his hands on the door of the confessional next to the demon's head, pinning him in place. "Because you and I have such stirring discussions."

Chrono's neck stretched and his chin lifted to bring his face, his eyes, his mouth closer. He would kiss Lucifer right then if he knew he didn't dare impose that sort of action on him without permission. Instead, his tongue ran over a dry lip before settling on a word to forstall the inevitable. "riveting," he agreed.

The door to the other confessional opened suddenly. And what do you know, it was the same on that Rosette sat in on normally every Monday.

Lucifer trailed his hand over Chrono's chest, grabbing his arm and pulling him along as he enter the booth.

Rosette eventually bounced back into the church later, in some handwavily borrowed clothes because she'd woken up from the cupcake party in just her nightshift, and it was a long walk over from 25 Unicorn to be in just a nightshift. She smirked a little at what Chrono had done with the sign as she came in. "What? Didn't feel up to running confession today, Chrono?"

Huh. Imagine that, demons could blush. But it wasn't there for long because, in addition to thinking that he could probably do a better job with it, Chrono was also really glad to see Rosette was back to normal.

All he could say, though was, "Gets too cramped in there with wings."

Which got a strange look from Rosette. "Well, I guess we'll solve that problem then, won't we? Where's that watch? I'm absolutely exhausted and I know for a fact it's not from cupcake crash..."

Chrono handed it over idly and watched in amazement as, tongue stuck slightly out of the corner of her mouth, Rosette fiddled with it for a minute or so, there was a firm clicking sound, and the glow disappeared. Chrono found himself once again renewed (trapped?) to his restrained form.

There was a little bit of a sigh. He felt so short.

"There we go! All fixed." Rosette grinned at his surprised look. "What? You think jus' because I could get it when I was eight means I can't get it now? You think they make an item like that and give it to me without specific instructions on how to redo the seal?" She ruffled his hair. "I'm gonna take a nap. You running around like that all weekend has me beat!"
