The Park, Wednsday Evening

It was warmer than it had been for a long time, so Clark was out for a walk, enjoying it.

The Doctor just so happened to be out for a stroll as well.

"Well, fancy seeing you here," he said in greeting.

"Doing fairly well," the Doctor said. "I've been meaning to talk to you, I have."

"Understand we have a few things in common, us," the Doctor said.

The Doctor gestured towards a bench, and sat down on it himself. "Would love a cup," he said. "Always nice, cocoa. Well, unless you're allergic, but thankfully I'm not."

"Your mother, eh?" the Doctor asked.

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
"How old were you?" the Doctor asked. "When you came to Earth, I mean."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers, eh?" the Doctor said.

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Good for all of you, then," the Doctor said with a smile. "So how did you learn the name of your people and all that? Genetic knowledge?"

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, that's clever, that," the Doctor admitted. "Still, harsh, being all alone in the universe."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, no how that goes, meeslf," the Doctor said. "Never is the nice ones that survive with you, is it?"

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, been the last of my species for not too long, really," the Doctor said. "Planet ceasing to exist is a relatively new thing, in the cosmic scheme. I've had plenty of time with it around, really. It's a refreshing change. Not having it, I mean. Not a tragedy or anything."

Yeah. Which is why he was getting teary-eyed.

"War between two time travelling races," the Doctor said. "It becomes a sort of 'who can eliminate who first', in a much scarier, literal sense," the Doctor said.

"Oh, we won, though," the Doctor said. "Sort of lost, too, all things considered."

"Everything that lives must die," the Doctor said. "Time does that."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Not everyone," the Doctor said. "Just a sadly very vocal and active few."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," the Doctor said. "That's the important thing, that."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Your biological father, perhaps," the Doctor said. "Those people who raised you, possibly even more your parents. And you've still got them."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I've got me," the Doctor said. "All I've ever really needed."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Wouldn't know what to do if I lost myself, really," the Doctor said.

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The Doctor chuckled. "Something like that," he said.

"There were more than a few of them running about, not too long ago," the Doctor said. "Which one was it?"
