Wednesday afternoon, Galactica Point

Parker was stretching out her legs and loosening her shoulders before picking up the sword to run through some basic drills before Alanna got there to practice. The sand was going to make things trickier, she could already tell.

The wind was picking up, and the surf kind of made it look like the set of Buccaneers of a Place Like the Carribbean.

"Three - two - one...oh, look, a fish." Faithful purred.

"I-- what?" Parker raised her sword, and didn't look at Faithful, but yes, that was enough to throw her off.

Alanna grinned and tried to tap Parker lightly on the shoulder with Lightning.

Parker brought her sword up in time to block, but very sloppily, then re-set her feet to try and compensate, resolving to ignore the feline menace. And not give him shrimp again soon.

Alanna gave Parker a moment to adjust before aiming for her other shoulder and then quickly her midsection.

Parker had been practicing enough to block the first strike with an upper block, but not enough to block the second. "Gah!" She jumped back, and swung out in a feint at Alanna's legs, hoping to drive her back far enough to give Parker time to think.

Alanna calmly blocked it and brough the sword up tap Parker on the shoulder again.

"Frak, frak, frak." Parker managed to correct her stance, and shook off the tap, making a much cleaner strike upward, then striking across as quickly as she could.

Alanna wasn't smiling, really. She blocked Parker's strike, took a tiny step back, and aimed for her knee.

Don't look at her face, don't look at her face.....Parker managed to block the knee strike, but left herself wide open, knew it, and tried to spin away.

Alanna aimed for Parker's midsection and was really failing at not grinning.

Okay, that? Was enough to make Parker focus even harder, even with the tap to her ribs she couldn't avoid. She brought her sword up under hand, knocking Alanna's upward, then went on the attack: slash, parry, strike.
