Town Hall - Monday

After the mail debacle of last week and the subsequent unpleasant visits with people from the town, all Braca wants is a quiet day.

Of course, today is the day he hits his head in the bathroom, his desk breaks, he last pen runs out of ink and his pants tear in a very precarious area.

Frell.

Moist took in the office, the Mayor, and the Mayor's shorts without batting an eyelid. He'd seen much stranger things, and he'd had a lifetime's experience not reacting to them.

"Mayor Braca?" he asked, best honest smile on his face, beaming and earnest, suit shining, and magazine tucked under one arm.

Moist's eyes did widen slightly at that. "Umm, no. Traditionally they tend to be female." Curious, he glanced around the office. "Were you expecting a," he cleared his throat, "seamstress? Because I can come back later."

"Well, if one does visit, you're certainly dressed appropriately." Moist smiled wider and carefully set the magazine on he desk. "I'm Moist von Lipwig," present it fait accompli, never hesitate, "new Postmaster of the Fandom Post Office."

This was almost too easy. Moist suddenly missed Vetinari. Except for the part where he didn't.

"Already done," he assured him. "Delivered on Friday, in fact. And today's is on the way, or will be when I get back. I take it you don't have any objections to me solving your little postal problem?"

Moist filed that bit of information away for later use, amused that so far no one had actually said his name. "Given your current sartorial situation, I'll be just as happy if you don't," he said lightly. "And no thanks are necessary. The post calls; the Postmaster must answer." Which was truer than he would have liked. "Feel free to direct any complaints about the mail my way. No reason you should have to listen to them."

A little bow, and Moist spread his hands. "It's my job." He repressed the reflexive shudder. "I'll see that yours continues to be personally delivered," he said, nodding at the magazine. "Now, we're both busy men, so I'll leave you to your job and go back to mine."

"Certainly. If I see one, I'll tell her the Mayor needs her." Moist bid him farewell and left, walking slowly back to the post office, wondering exactly where in town the House of Negotiable Affection was located.

With his seamstress obsession, at least the Mayor would be easy to bribe.
