Around town, Sunday afternoon

This is Jaye, floating around on an inflatable plastic raft, trying not to tip over as she paddles with her hand around the water. Yeah, it's a flood. It's also Fandom, and there's a school of fishies under her somewhere. That's why she's armed with a camera.

This is actually kind of relaxing.

Dipper and Zipper did a classic leap and turn, waving to Jaye as they went by.

Skipper just squee'd as she broke the surface right in front of Jaye to whistle in her face.

And that would be Jaye clicking a picture really quickly. "You're going into National Geographic, yes you are!" she tells her.

Squeeeee!

Skipper splashes downward and then comes up to do a forward somersault in celebration of being fayyyyyymusss!

Kipper, not to be outdone, soared upward and did one of those spinny things that would make a human dizzy before diving back in again.

A couple mermaids surfaced to applaud.

Jaye's clicking the camera madly now, because seriously, mermaids. This is like a Lisa Frank folder come to life.

"So are you naturally talented, or did you escape from Sea World?"

Shrill whistles and cheeps, then Zipper does that backwards-dancing thing while clapping his fins. Kipper and Dipper pop up and just look dolphinly confused.

"They're practicing!" A green-haired mermaid splashed a bit, then waved a fish at Skipper, who sat up and begged for it. "They want to audition for Orlando this spring!"

"Good luck, fishy dudes!" Jaye says, giving them a thumbs up. And she's talking to fish. Thanks, Fandom.

"Ooo! Watch this!" A blue-haired mermaid preened a little, then made showy Vanna-White movements at the dolphins.

Zipper, Kipper, Dipper, Skipper, Nipper, and Tipper (who looked fairly matronly) had decided to *really* show off, and did a quick jumping-over-the-raft, one after another, above Jaye. They they all burst from the same point in six different directions, with Dipper finishing off with three somersaults and "Hail to the Chief".

And then they all sat up and applauded at Jaye.

Jaye actually applauds back when she puts her camera down. What? It was impressive as hell. "Okay, that kinda ruled."

Rose decided to go out boating today, she's stopped resenting the water. For now. For now she liked it, merpeople and Poseidon aside.

Rose waves back, "Having fun?"

"There was a dolphin show and a bat ray was totally having road rage with my raft," she says, kind of happily

Rose looks around some what a wee too wistfully, "Wish had that happen to me."

Yes, she is strange.

"I got pictures," she says helpfully.

"Ooh, can I have a look see?" She paddled close to Jaye.

Jaye paddles back, half looking like she's going to fall in any second. "Yeah, sure," she says, pulling up the picture and handing it over to Rose.

Rose takes the photos, "They're sort of cute, in a totally slimy, creature of the sea way." She grins at Jaye, "Never a dull moment here, is there?"

"If there is, it's probably only until aliens land or trolls invade," she says. "Lulls are really rare."

"This place is lot like home then, especially with the rains thing... though I don't think Thames would ever cause this." She paused, "Least I hope not."

"Well, it's Fandom," she says. "Even if it did, you probably wouldn't get mermaids promoting dolphin shows."

Rose laughed, "That's certain. How were the dolphins? Did you see them perform?"

"Impressive! I think I have to go see them in Sea World next year after their audition," she smiles.

"Maybe we could arrange a field trip to Sea World, for... say, educational purposes."

"Maybe I can come back and chaperone and not pay for it?" she says hopefully.
