10 Minotaur Ave: Saturday PM: Moving In [3-17-07]
Millie found the bookstore without much problem and took a moment to stand outside and look at her new home. "I like it," she said to Proudfoot. "But that name has to go."
Proudfoot looked up briefly at the sign reading "Aereopagitica" and sniffed in agreement.
Millie let herself in, noting that whoever had been keeping the bookstore running had done a good job of keeping it tidy. She moved on into the back of the store, then up the stairs to the apartment above. It didn't take long, with a little magical help, to have it spotless and looking freshly painted. Boxes unpacked themselves and furniture moved where she pointed and before long all the important things were in place.
Millie set out Proudfoot's special bed and dishes herself. She carefully lined the bed with the scarf that Proudfoot had been wrapped in after they'd first escaped from the temple, the kitten only a few days old at the time. Then she went into the kitchen to brew herself a pot of tea and find a couple of biscuits - Miss Rosalie had sent an entire package of her special homemade ones along.
In a very short time, she was ensconced in a comfortable chair; tea steaming on the side table beside her, biscuits on a beautiful china plate, warm light illuminating her and the book she was reading while Proudfoot purred contentedly in her lap. Oh yes, she could get used to this place quite easily.
