The Perk, Wednesday Lunchtime

Xander was sitting at a table in the Perk with a huge cup of oversweetened coffee and a slice of pie from J,GoB. Well, technically four slices of pie if you counted the ones still in the box next to him.

He also had his laptop open (despite the risk of keyboardcrumbs), and was replaying footage of Buffy and some of the newest Slayers in action, to see what might work well for throwing at Mel in holographic form.

[OOC: Open for all your Perky needs, Xandery or otherwise. I disappear briefly for a meeting in about an hour now, but will pick up pings after I return.]

Mel had wandered down to the perk to big up a large coffee and gave a little wave in her watcher's direction. "Hey Harris, what you got on the grid?"

"Buffy and three newbie Slayers vs. the Giant Snotmonster." Xander spun his laptop around to show her. There ere tentacles. And a very big nose. "That may not be what the file's labeled, but that's what I'm calling it. Want pie?"

"Always," Mel said taking a slice. "I don't see any snot on that Snotmonster."

Xander flicked it off pause and let the action commence. Soon, there was snot. Only not on the monster.

"Ew," Mel said pushing away the pie uneaten. "Okay. Sticking with the coffee."

"Lesson One: if you let Slayer Grossness^TM stop you from eating, you will starve to death." Xander took another bite of his pie. Mmmm, blackberry.

Mel sipped her coffee and shook her head. "Yeah well I don't eat while I'm on patrol. Snacking while slaying can be dangerous."

"Hey," Bridge says, flopping down uninvited in one of the other seats at the table.

Xander smiles. "Hey." He points to the box next to him. "Pie?"

"Do you even need to ask?" Bridge says with a raised eyebrow, taking a piece of pie. "What's up?"

"I'm looking through some footage Andrew sent of Buffy and some of the girls fighting stuff, to see what we can use for training Mel."

"No mud runs," Bridge says instantly.

"What about snot-runs?" Xander asks, playing Buffy and the Newbies Vs. the Snot-Monster for him.

"Have we met? I'm Mel."

"Hey Bridge, how's it going?"

"I don't think so. The name's Bridge."

"I've got pie, classes are done for the week... things are definitely good." Bridge doesn't add "and I'm sitting here with Xander" out loud to his list of things that are definitely good, but it might be obvious.

Mel grinned. "I've got class on Friday but yeah I know the feeling. Except Xander showed me a picture of a snotmonster so I'm not to keen on the pie."

"Yeah, I can't decide if the snotmonster is better or worse than the time the Bradley brothers got shrunk and stuck in a tub of popcorn."

"Bradley brothers?" Mel asked. "Who are they?"

Natalie paused just inside the door. An idiotic grin flashed across her features before she regained control. The Perk really did look a little different in daylight. Oh, it was still cozy, and very coffeehouse-like, but everything seemed, well, brighter.

Stepping up to the counter, she ordered a latte and two blueberry scones. She then settled in at one of the tables near the window to enjoy the bright but overcast day.

Xander looked up from his laptop and gave her a wave and a smile from his table*. "Morning! Or....nooning, I guess, now."

*and tried to remember if he'd ever been in the clinic when she was there, deeply suspecting the answer was no, because wow have I inadvertantly stayed in-character with the boy's non-fannishness of hospitals.

Nat gave a smile. "Hi there," she replied. She recognized him as the "new" manager at the apartment building, but hadn't officially met him. "I don't think we've ever been properly introduced. I'm Nat Lambert -- the basement dweller at the Mauvaise Chance." She leaned a bit, extending her hand.

"Hey." Xander stood up and walked over to shake it. "Xander Harris. You work at the clinic, right?"

"Night shift -- just like the last fifteen years of my life," she said, shaking her head. "Not a bad job, though. I get a lot of research done on the slow nights, and I'm glad to be there on the busy ones."

Xander twitched an eyebrow and filed away the night shift part from years of habit, but she was clearly sitting right out here in the sunlight, so... "Not usually a morning person?"
