Fandom Post Office - Thursday 3/22

Katara got to the post office bright and early.

Which actually meant that she had gotten distracted by taking the long way that included going to the beach to town and had to run to make it to the post office before nine.

Still she was happy to see that the place hadn't burned down over the past week and waved to Gladys happily.  After she opened the doors and made sure the stamps and letters and writing supplies were in the right spot, she started an inspection to make sure all the mail had stayed dry.  Because she took her duties as Assistant Postmaster In Charge of Dryness seriously.

Annette walked in, a huge vase of flowers in her hand, and a wrapped box in the other.

"Hey! Anyone around?"

Annette giggled and winced immediately. Her stupid nose was hurting worse today. How is that possible even? And when she looked in the mirror? Wow. It was uglier too. Dangit.

"Take your time!" She called out, not wanting to be a pain and demand attention right away. Cause she's nice like that.

"Hi, Katara!" Annette smiled and waved and thought Katara was talking about something else. Cause Annette looked tired, felt tired, and was slightly pale. Dumb beer.

"Uhh, late night at Caritas?"

Annette raised her brows, "Oh, you heard about that?" She was snoozing by the time the radio broadcast aired last night.

"I didn't get hit, but this stupid idiot thought he could manhandle me. Dick punched him in the nose and bloodied it up." She smiled. "Dick is my boyfriend." Cause it was important to point that out.

She watched Katara with the water. "What are you doing, Katara, cause that looks really pretty."

The light went on. "Oooh, my nose!" Annette frowned and reached her hand up to tentatively touch at the bridge. "I accidentally got hit in the nose with a baseball." She grinned a little and watched the water play over Katara's hand. "That is so neat, and so pretty. And I forgot you can heal. Cally reminded me but then I forgot again. I would love that, Katara. Will the ugly colors go away too?"

Annette closed her eyes when Katara brought her hand to her face, but she could see the glowing behind her closed lids. And it was strange...the deep hurt of her bruised nose started to lighten and go away.

When Katara spoke to her, she opened her eyes and reached up to touch her nose. The look on her face was one of wonderment. "It doesn't hurt anymore."

True to his word, Chad stopped in to visit the best roommate ever at her new awesome job to mail a letter to Orihime despite being on SP-of-DOOOM mode. "How's it goin', Katara?" he asked.

"Want I should cause something untoward?" he offered.

Chad nodded. No putting out Gladys' fire. Got it.

But then Chad realized that he didn't know what sort of untoward events he could cause. It had been a while since he did things like that. He looked around a little.

He found a stack of paper.

He pushed it off the counter.

...Such a rebel.

Chad rolled up the sleeves of his shirt a little bit to emphasise his complete bad-ass-ness. "Untoward enough?" he asked. "Should I kick them around a little?"

Chad leaned in toward Katara for a moment, whispering, "What exactly would be improper disposal of them?"

Because he didn't know.

Chad nodded gravely and then bent over to pick up the papers. He clutched them messily in his hand as he strided over to the mailboxes with dire intent, and shoved them all into one of the mailslots.

"Ha."

Chad grunted, nodding as he inspected his dastardly deed. "You don't mess," he said, "with the Chad."

...Okay, even he couldn't stay stoic after that. Another grunt, this one a laughing one, and he grinned at Katara a little.

Which, of course, garnered the good ol' Thumbs-Up

"Yeah?" Chad's head tilted a little and he went back over to Katara at the counter, leaning on it a little (carefully). "You liked it?"

Re: Katara

"Another fan in the making," Chad grinned a little, a satisfied, proud sort. "Awesome. Y'sure it's not jus' 'cause you're biased?"

Re: Katara

"Good," Chad nodded. "M'glad."

Re: Katara

Chad nodded. "Wouldn't want to think it was just a fluke."

Sokka came in and hung out by the mailboxes for a while. He smiled a huge, stupid grin at Katara any time she looked at him, and in general was unobtrusive in as annoying a way as he knew how.

And he completely abused his free postage by mailing several blank sheets of paper to himself.

"In my room," Sokka answered, and waved. "How's work?" he asked.

"We never had to clerk a counter at home," Sokka pointed out with a smirk. "I'll bet shopkeepers and things in cities back home are just as bored."

"Except cabbage vendors," Sokka mused to himself. "Those never seem bored when we go by."
