The Causeway, Friday Evening

There he was, standing in all his glory, a tall, white haired fellow with a glowing eye and metal-looking arm. He was there for a reason.

That reason was Wade Wilson. 'Professor' Wade Wilson, and that concept boggled him.

And there was also the fact that Wade, as far as Nate knew, might have assassinated a certain Mr. Rogers. No, not the one who wishes you to be his neighbor and wears sweaters.

Not to say Nate didn't think Wade would kill that Mr. Rogers. But that Mr. Rogers is already dead. Not that that really meant much, given Nate came from a universe where people inexplicably ressurect all the time. So if Mr. Rogers ever did have a second coming, he could very well be killed by Deadpool.

But that wasn't anywhere near on Nate's mind. Not now.

Boggle at the large man. Gawk at his arm. Ask him questions about what it's like to be a time-traveling Jesus figure. Go wild.

Miho paused in her roller-skating rounds to boggle at Nate. Metal arm. Why hadn't she thought of that?

Oh, that was right, she liked the arm she had.

The whole grayscale thing wasn't that odd to Nate. He gave the girl a respectful nod. "You wouldn't happen to know Wade Wilson, do you?"

Miho thought about that for a moment. The name didn't sound familiar. She shrugged and pointed vaguely toward the school. Maybe they knew him?

Nate shook his head, not that he didn't believe her, but the concept was still hard to believe. Of course, he could have just grabbed what he needed to know off the Infonet. But this was the fun way. "So you've not seen a guy who likes to run around in a red and black bodysuit with swords?"

That did sound vaguely familiar, but Miho just shrugged again.

Nate nodded again. "Thanks for the help," he joked.

Miho offered him a business card for the Sin.

Nate took it, and chuckled. "Dom would shoot me. In the not fun way."

Miho suspected she would like this 'Dom' but she just shrugged again and skated off. His decision.

A grumpy bearded balding man in a 'speed suit' was on his way towards heading off the island, a robot hauling a few large suitcases behind him.

"Come on, H.E.L.P.eR," Dr. Venture grumbled. "Faster you move, the faster we put this whole mistake behind us."

"Memememmeememe?" H.E.L.PeR replied.

Through the amazing coincidences that Wade lived his life with, he managed to miss a certain ex's arrival and appear just in time to see his kinda employer and radio buddy leave.

"I don't care what they say, you're a very pretty woman." Pause. "If you enjoy that ugly OH MY GOD DON'T TOUCH ME kind of thing."

"Woman, what the hell are you talking about?" Dr. Venture said.

"Your sex change operation," Wade explained like that should have been obvious. "Not my cup of tea, mostly because I'm not British, but if that's the way you want to live your life, it's a-okay by me."

"Why the hell would I have a sex change operation?" Dr. Venture said. "I have enough problems. I wouldn't need to add 'scarred freak' and 'inferior gender' to my life."

Wade patted him on the shoulder. "You just keep working on that self esteem, Rusty, I mean Rustina."

"I'm really not going to miss you," Dr. Venture said. "And for the record? Brock could kick your ass to hell and back."

"No he couldn't," Deadpool replied calmly. "Mullets are minus 20 in fighting ability."

"Was that a roleplaying reference?" Dr. Venture sneered. "Geek."

"What was that Rustina? I couldn't hear you over all that estrogen in your body."

"Whatever," Dr. Venture said. "Your check isn't in the mail. Enjoy being crazy." He started to walk off.

"Love you toooo!" Wade crooned.

As much as he'd never admit it...

Dr. Venture was gonna miss that crazy bastard.

But in a totally platonic, man love sort of way that doesn't involve red-flag touching.

Because.

I ask again, HOW'S YOUR DAD?

...I would have a better idea if I'd actually read X-Men comics in the past year... which I haven't

Oh, fear not. He's still got that stick up his duodenum. Unless we're talking 'Astonishing,' in which case he's a crazy, wisecracking, visorless motherf-er. You know, all Jossified.
