The Junkyard [Sunday, March 25, Afternoon]

Rose arrived in the Junkyard, picnic basket in hand and following River's directions to her squirrel built ship. River was going to show-off her ship and Rose promised to bring the snacks to the showing. There were a lot of ships here, more than she's seen in the last four years, just walking through this felt like old times.

She paused at the end, where the map had an 'X' sign and studied River's squirrel built ship.

(For River, but open for Junkyard purposes)

No flying today. A little disappointing perhaps, but she could see the sense in that, especially since she needed to have the possible leak checked. River arrived finding Rose standing in front of the Acorn ans sneaked up quietly behind her.

"Good ship," she commented.

"I was sneaky," River grinned. "You brought food?"

She waved for Rose to follow her inside the ship.

River gestured around the cargo hold. "Some redecoration needed. And the furniture got ruined in the flood." She took a blanked out of her bag and spread it out on the floor. "Need to have the leak checked too."

"Rainy?" River asked without thinking in response to her thought. "And Pippi and I took it out flying on Thursday and ran out of fuel." She giggled. "But we now know it can do barrel rolls."

River's eyes glittered. "Oh! And he's nice?"

She took a seat on the blanket and reached for the picnic basket.

That made River giggle. "That's fun too. Used to make Blair blush a lot."

"Oh, much better than when we last spoke," River said, reaching for a can. "Am seeing someone else no, in a way. Less problematic."

River nodded with her mouth full of soda, looking quite happy. "Jack. Although I'm sharing him with Sam and Cedric. Not sure how he has the time for all of us."

River blinked, a little surprised by the reaction. "Yes." She looked questioningly at Rose.

River blinked again. Somehow that wasn't the reaction she had hoped for. Still, she just shrugged. "Am happy. But he wasn't pleased that I almost crashed the Acorn, so he got me to promise to ask Sam to teach me. Which I did." She decided to change the subject. "What have you been doing?"

"Possibly," River said. "I do need to learn. What food did you bring?"

River's face lit up and she reached out for a banana. "Fresh fruit was so rare on Serenity. You never told me what you'd been doing."

River nodded. "Have not been able to solve that puzzle either."
