Magic Box - Monday

A phone call to Sunnydale on Saturday to wish his Willow a happy birthday had led to, if not exactly a lost weekend, at least a misplaced weekend. He would have been fine if the Buffybot hadn't answered the phone. As it was, that brought back all the feelings he'd fleed Sunnydale to try and outrun and Giles had spent the rest of the weekend indulging in a funk. With alcohol.

But Monday morning found him opening up the Magic Box with a determination to get on with it instead of pickling his liver. If he was slightly melancholy, at least he was here.

Alanna came in - Faithful in her arms - and began to look around.

"Could I help you?" Giles asked politely.

"Just browsing." Alanna replied politely and shifted Faithful so she had one arm free. "Possibly something in defense? I usually prefer spells, but stones and thread magic would be okay too, I suppose."

Leo had a plate of brownies covered in plastic wrap for the new merchant in town.

The squirrel tucked up next to the eyes of newt took careful notes: "Alanna 'n Leo stoppin' by t' see the new Giles. No news of either giving the attractive squirrel there any treats. V. rude."

Giles was tidying up when he caught movement out of the corner of his eye and turned to look.

There was a squirrel on the traditional spell components shelf wearing a hat. With a teeny tiny notepad.

"And to think, back in Sunnydale I just had to worry about rats and vampires."

The squirrel gave Giles a cheerful wave.
