Chilly Boulder Ice Creamery - Monday Afternoon

After Ethics, Katara and Molly headed down to town to get ice cream.  As the door opened jingling, Katara remarked "so, I'm going to say right now that it's completely unfair that I grew up surrounded by ice and snow and only got to learn about ice cream once I came here.  You'd think it would be a delicacy or something at the South Pole."

Molly giggled as she followed Katara inside. "It's made from milk. So, unless you had cows at the South Pole, it wouldn't have been the same anyway."

"We have turtleseals?" Katara suggested. "Maybe their milk could be used."

Molly gave Katara a confused look. "Turtleseals? Do those give milk?"

"Definitely," Katara said. "They have to feed their babies."

"Then I guess you could always try it," Molly said, but it didn't sound like it would be the same at all.

"It would probably not be very good," Katara replied. "Guess we'll stick with stewed sea prunes there." She looked up at the board of flavours. "Do they have chocolate?"

"Of course they do!" Molly said. "You just have to decide if you want anything in your chocolate ice cream."

"Like marshmellows?"

Molly nodded enthusiastically. "Or caramel or nuts or more chocolate or all of them!"

"All of them!" Katara said gleefully. "And strawberries." She nodded and gave her order to the boy at the counter.

The boy behind the counter just shook his head and went to mix her ice cream. When he came back, Molly ordered strawberry ice cream which didn't take as long to get.

After she paid and thanked the nice boy, Molly went over to sit at a table by the window. "How is it?" she asked, indicating Katara's ice cream.

Katara sat down happily and tried it. "It's very nutty and chocolatey and strawberry-y." She offered some to Molly to try.

Molly took a bite. "That is a lot of flavors! Very yummy."

"Yes!" Katara took another bite of her ice cream. "Is it good to be back?" she asked, looking a bit more serious.

Molly sighed. "Yeah. I slept alllll weekend. Seeing other planets is fun, but the next time I really hope it is a planned trip. Two emergency trips in one month is just too much."

"Two, really?" Katara asked, looking worried. "What was the other one?" She paused. "Unless I'm being all nosy and it's not my business."

"The first one was something very similar actually," Molly explained. "D'anna got hurt after the cheer competition and some of us ended up taking her home to get help for her. This was kind of the same thing. Something happened to John, the one in Ethics class, and we took him to Aeryn's home... space to get help for him."

That was all true. There were just a bunch of details left out.

Katara frowned. "It's probably way beyond what I can do, but I could try to heal someone next time. If they got hurt."

Molly grinned. "These were both special cases," she said. "But, I will remember that."

"Good," Katara said with a grin and a nod back. "Did you get to see any of the people go cuckoo last week? You were in music, right? Where that masked Valentine guy thought he was a movie director?"

Molly nodded. "I was wondering what was up with him. Was everybody cuckoo last week?"

"Just a few people. Don't know why. But Tannim thought he was someone called Santa Claus. And in Ethics last week, Jaye couldn't stop talking."

Molly giggled. "I wish I could have seen it. Did they get bit by gremlins?"

"I think it was something with the food in the cafeteria," Katara said, snickering. "I'm so, so, so glad I didn't eat there at all last week."

The squirrel outside the ice cream shop scrawled out, "Katara 'n Molly get ice cream. None for sharing w/ adorable squirrel. Woe."
