Setsuna bowed to Ami a bit as she held the door open, with a quiet little "arigato" and followed her over to the table she'd chosen. She decided to return the politeness by offering, //"Would you like me to get something for you while I'm up?"//

//"Oh... do you think they have bubble tea?"//

//"Oh! Bubble tea!"// Setsuna chuckled a little. //"I'm not sure, but I shall check."//

And check she did, returning to the table with two bubble teas. //"I do love,"// she said as she sat down, //"how you can find almost anything on this island. It's so used to catering to such a wide variety of people."//

//"Either that or they just conjure up whatever people want."// Ami said, taking the tea. //"Thank you."//

She sipped quietly, then asked. //"Setsuna-chan, why did you ask so many times if i had done the sword-fighting before?"//

//"Because you responded like someone who has, Ami-chan,"// Setsuna said, her tone stiff and serious, looking at her closely across the table for reactions. //"The way you held yourself, your sword. Definately not in the form of a complete novice..."//

Setsuna drew in a breath over her cup of tea, and fought back the urge to shiver a bit. She'd seen things like this before. Ojou-sama, with her magic. Asuna-san, with her fighting. Neither of them were aware of any talent, any previous experience, but, when put the task...It was the same with Ami-chan, and it had the wheels in Setsuna's head spinning erratically.

"But" she said, switching to English out of the politeness for the public space "How can that be?"

Setsuna would have perfered to have kept their Japanese, but accented to the switch out of politeness for Ami. "I...I'm not sure. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Ami-chan, do you...remember that battle I showed you? From the tournament at my old school, with the kitty ears and the maid costumes?"

Ami blushed a giggled. "Of course."

"Well, Asuna, that's the girl I was fighting...I am...er, well, was her sensei in sword work, and the same thing has happened with her. She'd claimed to never have any experience in fighting before, but the saw she worked her sword, the way she responded to things...was incredibly natural. You'd never guess by watching that fight how little she had been trained, but I know, because I trained her." SHe shook her head a little, struggling to make sense of it. "It was the same thing with you..."

"Was she.. just good, or did she study but not tell you?"

"...I can't believe I just heard the word 'study' in a sentence associated with Asuna-san," Setsuna said with a soft grin. "She trained hard, but I highly doubt she did anything extranous from my teachings. I don't know where she would, considering I spent most of that time not far from her at all."

"So... did she just used to train and didn't tell you?" Ami was really trying to understand.

"Have you?" Setsuna asked back in response, almost slightly challenging. "If it weren't for the fact that I would highly doubt that you would lie to me about something like this, Ami-chan, I wouldn't believe for a second that you haven't had any prior experience with fighting after what I saw in the gym."

Ami shrunk back from the challenge in Setsuna's voice as if from a slap.

"I would never lie to you about anything"

Setsuna winced at the reaction, realizing that she'd slipped into her brash, serious sort of mode. "I...I know," she put in quickly, hoping to salvage herself from it. "I know that. I was just...making a comparrison, between you and Asuna-san....Just as I don't believe you lied, I don't think she did, either."

Ami tried to be smaller then she was, as she talked. "Then... what is it? Maybe it is Fandom magic or something?"

"I think," Setsuna said, with a significant sip of tea, "that it is untapped Mizuno Ami magic. Or, fighting skill, really, but you know what I mean."

She hoped anyway.

"I hope you are right" Ami sipped her own tea "Because i am no magical girl, and the other alternative is things like gremlin bites..."

"You...haven't been bitten....have you?" Setsuna asked, with a great deal of worry.

"I do not believe so..."

Setsuna relaxed. A bit. "....Good."

Of course, that only left the second option which, although rather ridiculous and terribly cute, picturing Ami as one of those Magic Biblion girls that Haruna drew, Setsuna knew would probably have some merit. Especially around this place...

Ami nodded, drinking more of her tea.

"I do not know what it was Setsuna-chan... Holding that sword... it was like holding a brush, you just know that there is a good way and a wrong way. Did that make sense?"

Setsuna quirked an eyebrow at Ami. "...Are we talking, like, hairbrush or more paintbrush?"

Huge difference. For Setsuna.

"I was thinking a writing brush, actually."
