It was Ami's first day at her new job. This was going to be exciting, she could tell. Also nerve wrecking. She came in and turned the lights on. Flipping the sign in the door to say 'OPEN' she went behind the counter and decided that today was the day to figure out both the inventory system and the register. And hopefully, she would not break anything.

Now if she could just keep her mind on the shop and not let it wander into the realm of figuring out if Setsuna hated her, if Billy hated her and if in general she should have stayed in bed...

//"The Devil's Nest? That nightclub in town?"// Setsuna's head tilted a little. //"I'm actually starting tomorrow. It will certainly be much different from the post office. I'm...kind of nervous, actually."//

Setsuna certainly wasn't going to mention the reason why she was nervous. She was mostly just talking for the sake of being conversational to show that nothing was wrong, just as she said. So far, she felt she was doing pretty well.

//"Oh how exciting. What are you going to do there?"// Ami had never been to a night club. Because Caritas to see Teal Deer did not count.

//"Bartending, and probably keeping the place tidy as well. Nothing much. Just something...different."//

Different indeed, as Setsuna's entire bar experience included one awkward night at Caritas when Chad and Ranma had just stopped dating and then that one night when she broke up with Jude with all the sake and the twins...

//"...Educational?"// Setsuna couldn't help smirking a little at the word choice. It was cute, and, for some reason, she felt it was definately an Ami sort of word to have chosen.

There was a small smirk on Setsuna's face. Ami was pretty smart sometimes, although Setsuna was pretty sure it was mostly coincidence and not that Ami realized she had taken the job to watch one person in particular. //"Yes. That especially will be especially interesting..."// And, if things went well, helpful...

//"Do a lot of students go there, or is it mostly town residents? I would imagine the students one can watch any old time..."// Ami was smart all the time. Oblivious, yes. But smart.

//"We're actually supposed to enforce the age restriction on drinking alcohol there,"// Setsuna said, //"unlike Caritas, so I imagine the crowd tends to be older, teachers and residents..."//

Ami nodded. //"Good for them. I never really understood why Caritas allowed underage drinking. But then, my one experience with alcohol was... odd."//

Setsuna quirked an eyebrow and figured this would be a very good path to go down, because her own experience with alcohol involved boys, and, even though it was entirely platonic, that made her feel like she was proving something about her sexuality for merely that fact.

//"Odd how?"//

//"Well... Remember how we had a dance in February? Well... the punch was alcoholic, and i didn't know, so i drank three cups. I think. And then the room was spinning. Billy was really nice and walked me home, and didn't let me jump into the pond, even though i thought the ducks were lonely."// Ami was blushing fairly deeply by now. This was sort of embarrassing.

Setsuna was blushing too, not because she found it embarrassing at all, but just because that was absolutely freaking adorable. //"I was able to avoid the punch, if I recall. By the time I got to it, there were strange things swimming inside and I suddenly lost my taste for it..."//

There was another reason Setsuna was blushing, as well, because she remembered that dance, and what had gone on before it.

And if that wasn't proving something about her sexuality, then she didn't know what would.

//"Yes i believe so. They were adorable, i must say. But in any event, this experience pretty much convinced me that alcohol is not good for me. Besides... it made me have no filters."//

Setsuna nodded. //"Loss of inhibitions,"// she said, clinically. //"One of the more rampant side effects of alcohol. Did you suffer from any hangovers?"//

Ami shook her head. //"No... Except wanting to die of embarrassment the next day."//

//"Wanting to jump in the lake because you felt the ducks were lonely isn't all that bad, as far as embarrasing things go...."//

Yes, it could be much worse. It could be waking up in another gir-- Blushing, Setsuna shook her head a little bit. She wasn't going to let herself start thinking and dwelling on that now. This was going too well to start recalling it.

//"I suppose. Telling my boyfriend how much i like him over thirty times in a row, a bit more so."// Ami was blushing rather profusely.

Setsuna told herself that that sudden feeling in her stomach wasn't jealousy, at all. It had to have been indigestion. That was it.

//"That..."// Setsuna started a bit awkwardly, not quite knowing how to respond to that, //"...doesn't sound too bad. Could...could have been worse, right? Could have been a hundred times..."// A nervous chuckle offset the poor attempt at humour and imagining how incredibly cute that must have been. But, of course, as it ran in Setsuna's head, Ami certainly wasn't saying it to Billy.

Ami chuckled as well. //"True, true. At least it was guaranteed to be sincere."//
