Yes, the discountaged postage for packages to Japan was definately looking to be very helpful to Setsuna as she sent off her new gifts for Konoka-Ojou-sama that morning and then used all the rest of time at her oh-so-exciting postal position to try to commit to memory all the different weight and packaging prices and trying to make sense out of different kinds of shipping and looking at all the different stamps...

...and ultimately deciding that magicking things and magic hologram letters made so much more sense. Bah.

She'd be excited for the chance to recite of the litany of probably useless information she'd just filled her brain with.

Ami had to mail a letter to her Father. No other reason she was here on a Monday morning. None at all.

"Ami-chan!" Setsuna smiled when she saw her ~~girlcrush~~ friend come into the post office. "Hello! //Have another letter to send?//"

Ami nodded, blushing. //"Y-yes. To my Father. He is currently in Japan, and so it will take a while, and i need to know if i am staying here this summer or not..."// She held the letter out, to show that yes, she did come here for a reason. ~~can we retcon this to be monday afternoon, not morning? i messed up with timing~~

Setsuna's head ducked a little and she fidgeted a little at those words. Wasn't this just what she was talking to Alphonse about last night? Was Ami unsure about wanting to stay, too? //"Do...do you think you will?"// she asked. //"Um, if, that is, you don't mind me asking...~~And, yes, Ami-chan, it is a simply wonderful afternoon; I'm so glad you came to see me this Monday afternoon!~~\\"

//"I... well, first i need to find out if it is my choice at all, right?"// Ami looked down. She.. wasn't sure really. //"There is this Mathematics program in Oxford that is for High School students... but i have not given it too much thought."//

//"Do...you think you have a preference?"// Setsuna asked, frowning with slight worry as she leaned forward on the counter. //"Where's Oxford?"//

//"Oxford is in England. It is one of the most prestigious Universities in the world."// Ami said, wondering about that frown. //"It would be a wonderful educational opportunity..."// her tone suggested that this wasn't as wonderful an idea as she was trying to make it sound.

//"With that tone,"// Setsuna said quietly, //"it doesn't sound that wonderful..."// And Setsuna actually thought it sounded terrible, but she wasn't exactly the academic type, and she knew Ami was. And she couldn't ignore the fact that, yeah, definately a good opprotunity...

//"Sorry... it is just that... well, i have made friends here... and i... never had before..."//

Well, Ami certainly did seem to be singing a familiar tune, wasn't she? Although perhaps that wasn't necissarily true...with Asuna and Negi-sensei, but...Setsuna drew in a small breath.

//"I...'ve been kind of thinking of going back, too,"// she admitted, as if to let Ami know that she wasn't the only one feeling this sort of conflict approaching with the end of the semester.

Ami looked up suddenly, eyes wide. Setsuna was thinking of leaving? But with her gone... well Billy would still be here... but... //"You have?"// She sounded a little scared, as if not wanting to be left alone.

//"A...A bit, yes,"// Setsuna lowered her head a little. //"But...I'm really not sure. You remember what I told you about Pactios the other day, right?"//

Ami nodded //"Yes..."//

//"Well, I've been feeling that I have an obligation to fulfill that duty..."//

//"Do... do you get called when you are needed, or do you go when you feel ready?"// Ami frowned slightly. //"It would not be the same here without you..."//

//"When...when we're ready,"// Setsuna said. //"That...last time I went home, Ojou-sama and I almost made our Pactio but...something ~~die Asuna die~~...came up. So we're ready, definately..."// Something in her voice, however, suggested that maybe she wasn't, not really.

//"Are... are you sure? You have to be really really sure right?"// Ami was mentally ignoring the part of her brain that was saying how she was being selfish and trying to talk poor Setsuna out of it...

//"I...I guess one should be really, really sure, yes,"// Setsuna said after a moment. //"And...I suppose I'm not really, really sure. I just...I don't know. Something like the Pactio is what my whole life has been about; I feel like I'm...distracting myself from my main objectives by remaining here. I like it here, though. So I'm very conflicted."//

//"Well... you want to be prepared and ready and... being here is educational right?"// Ami was trying really. //"You could make a list, like of pros and cons..."//

A slightly disapproving sound slipped out of Setsuna. When was the last time she was told to make a pro/con list? Back when she felt she couldn't choose between Jude and Ranma, and she didn't actually make one because, before that she was making a...wow, a pro/con list about Ranma marrying Konoka, and then she lost it, and he found it and just...that was bad.

//"Yeah, I'm, uh, not big on pros and cons lists..."// Setsuna concluded, still marveling at how long ago that seemed....It really had been an...interesting year. She drew in a breath, and sighed slightly. //"When do you suppose, Ami-chan, you'll know about whether or not you'll be staying?"// In retrospect of the whole year she'd had so far, so little of that time included Ami-chan, and, really, getting to spend more time with her was definately a big, huge pro...

//"Well, once my father gets this lettr i am sure he will call... How long does a letter from here to Japan take? I have only sent him emails before, but this seemed... in need of more formality..."// Ami blushed at her own weirdness, it was weird after all to send a formal letter to her own Father.

//"And once i hear back... i should know."//

//"It shouldn't take too long, especially for just a letter."// Setsuna decided to use her employee status to send Ami's letter off with super-speedy shipping, but she wouldn't say anything about it, because she had a feeling Ami might try to refuse special treatment like that. //"So...I guess we'll wait and see what your father has to say. If you are staying, I...well, I'll admit,"// but not without blushing, //"that certainly adds to the incentive for staying over the summer."//

//"It does?"// Ami blushed furiously, sounding incredulous. Could it be that Setsuna-chan thought of her as a good friend, as she thought of Setsuna-chan?

Ami's reaction certainly didn't help much in the field of Setsuna's confidence, and she winced a little, shoulders lifting in embarrassment. //"W..well, of course. I mean, I met Ranma and Alphonse and Jude all last summer, but I've only had a fraction of that time to be friends with you..."//

Ami nodded, a happy grin appearing on her still-blushing face. //"Oh Setsuna-chan! You are such a good friend!"// And if there wasn't a counter between them, Ami would totally be hugging Setsuna right now. It was SO very good to have friends!

And, at that moment, it was so very good to have counters. //"I..um...thank you, Ami-chan. I...try..."// Awkwardly, shyly, Setsuna smiled back.

Counters were clearly evil. But such was life.

//"I think.. If it is my choice i will stay here."// Clearly Ami had just now reached this conclusion. //"Oxford will be there next summer. Still not sure about next year of course, but that is up to Mama."//

//"Besides,"// Setsuna grinned a little, //"it might not have the same credentials on paper, but I'd be surprised if Oxford could offer you the sort of experience Fandom can..."//

//"Very true. For example, there are no sword-fighting teachers at Oxford, just fencing."// Ami grinned.

//"Precisely,"// Setsuna nodded, with a soft smile.

//"Um... speaking of that..."// Ami was unsure as to how to actually bring up the fact that while completely terrified she wanted to both figure out what was going on and learn more.

//"Oh! That's right! I owe you another lesson coming up here soon, don't I?"// Setsuna realized, ~~despite later mentioning that she hadn't planned anything with Ami, hum, hum, continuity is for suckas~~.

//"Well, not if you are busy... or don't want to... or..."// Ami sounded a bit deflated. She didn't want Setsuna to feel like she HAD to do it...

//"Of course I want to, Ami-chan,"// Setsuna said, trying to sound encouraging at that tone in Ami's voice. //"I'll take a look at how my schedual is shaping up this week and maybe give you a call when something turns up?"//

//"O-ok..."// Ami was most definitely getting the idea that Setsuna really did not want to do this...

Setsuna nodded a little. //"By the end of the week, promise."//

Ami nodded once. //"I should... go. Thank you for getting the letter in the mail for me."// She smiled and fled. She did that a lot apparently, the fleeing.

//"It's no probl--"// Setsuna started, and then stopped, blinking, realizing that Ami had already gone. Huh. That was...abrupt. Her head tilted a little. Had she said something wrong? Or was it just that, well, they did stand and chat for a bit, so maybe she had other things to do?

Setsuna made a few simple paper golems to keep her company today.

The look pretty docile right now. But don't let that fool you. They might be thirsty for blood.
