The Sewers: Wednesday Evening

There are plenty of places to patrol in Fandom. For some reason Mel decided it was time to dig deep and check out the sewers.

The sad part was that it reminded her a little bit of Versi.

"So," she said to her traveling companion. "Come here often?"

"Never, actually," Aeryn answers, wrinkling her nose at their surroundings. "Even in reconnaissance I always had some reason to avoid the sewers." Because sewers.

"Yeah well I've been all over the island," Mel replied. "This is the only place I haven't looked.

"What are you looking for, exactly?" Aeryn asks. Not that she isn't prepared, but still.

"Vampires. Demons. Psychotic killers who were reborn by supernatural means," Mel said with a shrug as she peered down a tunnel. "That kind of thing."

"You don't find enough of those walking the halls?"

"Yes. But I can't kill them," Mel grumbled. "Most of them are either good, were bad but went good or teach music class."

"Well, you could, but it would more likely only get you expelled or arrested," she points out.

"Already been arrested," Mel grumbled. "And getting expelled means I'm stuck here without a way back home."

"You sound like me," Aeryn says. "All right, I see your point about coming down here then."

"Yeah," Mel said tilting her head slightly as though listening for something. "Sorry about the smell."

Aeryn shakes her head as a nonverbal okay, waiting to see if Mel's hearing something she's not.

Mel nods toward a certain tunnel. "You hear anything?"

"Could be worth checking out," she says, dropping her voice a little.

Mel reached behind her back and pulled out her axe as she moved slowly into the tunnel. "Ever do this kind of thing before?" she whispered.

"Once or twice," she murmurs. Of course then she could usually kill something by shooting it. Now, pulse pistol or not, she knows it might actually die if she sticks to a knife or stake.

The tunnel opened up into a chamber of sorts and there was a crunching sound as Mel began to walk across the floor.

When she shined the light on the ground she tried not to gasp.

"Well. Something has been hungry."

The floor was littered with animal skeletons.

Aeryn looks down the tunnel and says quietly, "Or maybe I should have brought the pulse rifle."

Mel took out her ray gun from her holster and tossed it to Aeryn. "Here. Double your fire power."

Aeryn catches the gun, looking it over for just a second and nodding her approval, and nods that she's ready.

Mel moves forward. "I can trust you not to shoot me right?"

She's just kidding. Really.

"I think you're safe," Aeryn says dryly, keeping an eye out as she moves on slowly.
