The Devil's Nest - Thursday 4/12

Neil was in a fairly good mood as he came in out of the rain and he even called out a cheeful hello to Mazikeen as he headed for the bar.

Setting down his schoolbag, he noted the addition of the piano with a bright exclaimation and walked over to the piano to check it out.

He didn't play -much to his mother's distress- but he did love classical piano music.

And guess where the master of the club was?

Lucifer sat at the piano, playing (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6S7UONNI) idly. Other things clearly on his mind.

Millie came in, deciding it was time to check this place out. She smiled at the young man behind the bar. "Hello," she said brightly. "Some sort of ale, please?"

After getting her ale, Millie wandered over to sit and listen to the piano playing.

"Good evening," Lucifer said, not looking up from the piano.

Millie smiled at him. "Beautiful piano playing," she said. "I'll just sit here and enjoy if you don't mind."

He looked up and greeted her with a polite half smile. "I would not be playing here if I minded."

"Of course," she said, brightly. "Sorry. I clearly spent too much time in that last finishing school. Not that most of it took, I'm afraid."

The polite smile grew into genuine amusement. "Are you new in town?" He asked, never pausing in his playing.

"Mostly," she said with a smile. "I've been here a few weeks. Took over the book store. Gave it a pronounceable name. I haven't been too sociable as yet, though. I'm afraid I got all caught up with this incredible new technology."

She leaned in a little closer. "Have you ever heard of the Internet? It is the most amazing thing!"

If asked why he was in a good enough mood to laugh like that, he would blame Wilson. It was all the doctor's fault, really. "Yes, but I can't say that I have actually used it."

"Oh my goodness! You certainly should try it. It's, why you can find anything on it!" Millie beamed happily. "All of the technology is amazing. Phones, answering machines, televisions! I'm afraid I quite abandoned my books for a bit."

Ninjas were, by nature, a sneaky lot. Kabuto was no exception. He didn't draw attention to himself, merely content to hang back in a mostly out-of-sight way and just watch and listen.

Aly was right, he'd been hiding and now he needed to get out. Arashi smiled as he came in and saw Neil at the bar and sat down. "Good Evening Neil, can I get my usual sake please?"

"I find this modern technology to be a bit too impersonal for my liking."

Lucifer might not have given any impression that he was aware of his latest employee's presence, but it did not mean he was oblivious to anything in his place.

"Hmmm..." Millie thought about that for a moment. "I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps because I don't know many people here as yet. I shall have to consider that when I'm using it."

But she couldn't quite contain her cheerful nature. "It is quite amazing, though," she said smiling. "Although I haven't yet found a way to make it let me talk to people back home."

Lucifer would find it more than a bit disturbing if either above or below began to communicate via computers.

"And just where is home for you?" He asked.

Naturally, Kabuto wouldn't assume he didn't know. Assuming something like that could lead to dangerous situations. But the music was good, and he could annoy Yondaime later.

Because that would be bad!

"Well, most recently in Series Twelve -" she stopped herself. "I don't suppose that means anything to you, though. I'm from England in another alternate world, much like your early Industrial Revolution period, except with magic. Before that, well... a far different world from this."

It really didn't mean anything to him, but he was always fascinated by other versions of reality. "Are you enjoying the differences?"
