Even though Alphonse had one of those nights where you spent more time tossing and turning rather than actually sleeping, he managed to arrive and open the store on time (if barely, by then). He got everything set up and ready as fast as he could, since really, all he wanted to do was plop down behind the counter.

Which, he did, eventually, and began to use reading as a distraction method.
